It shouldn't matter but since it's a first boot in a new build it would be better to have the ram in the correct channels.

I had the 34 Duo on my Ryzen 3600 first, kept the temps down nicely around 65c on a stress test. It's on my 9400f now which maxes out at 59c in stress test.

I can't compare it to the Noctua as I've never had one but it certainly does the job!

So why would you recommend expensive storage to someone trying to build a gaming rig?

He's not editing video or audio or we would be telling him to buy Ryzen so any money he can save on unnecessary costs can go towards a better GPU.

When are you actually going to explain why he needs this faster expensive storage?

I use a hdd to house movies I stream via plex and lesser played games I don't mind waiting a few more seconds to load. They're dirt cheap and work well enough for those purposes.

I put most of my games on hdd.  There are a few exceptions,  total war, warhammer comes to mind.  I couldn't take the loading times so i moved it to my ssd.

I currently have a 500Gb ssd as the only storage in my system. It fits my programs and I have games in a separate partition. The only modern games I play are OW and GTA V, so I have about 50GB left for older games which are the types of games I mainly play. I am thinking of getting another 500Gb ssd exclusively for games tho.

I put all my media on HDDs.  Internal and external.  Everything else is SSD.  The only time it sucks is moving a bunch of music.

Personally I use HDD's as game drives and ssd for important programs and boot since for me the loading times doesn't matter and it's cheaper with bulk HDD storage

There are quite a few at different settings if you google "witcher 3 6700k gtx 1080". The overclocked 6700k @4.6 ghz seems to be bottlenecked even by a 1080 ti!

Why wouldn't you use a mechanical drive as extra media storage when there's a 500gb nvme for the OS and games if he wants faster loading?

The 1tb you linked to is $120 and he can get 4tb mech storage for that price.

I would back up your data, and then just reinstall with a fresh Windows 10 USB. You can use that same tool to make a bootable Windows 10 setup drive.

Built this system last year. Wanted to build a balling setup but took a few shortcuts with things like soft tubing. Eventually I want to do a Lian LIO11 build but this system needed to be small to fit in my apartment while I am in college. But we couldn’t forget about that sweet RGB! Cable management both in the case and the desk need some major work, Ill eventually get around to it.

It's better to mount it securely as when the fan spins it can cause vibration in your case.

Not a great time to upgrade atm, B550 am 4 motherboards are coming in June, 4000 series Ryzen in September, intel 10th gen release next week and the new RTX 3**** series from Nvidia are here in September so it might be worth considering waiting a few months to see all the options coming soon - more powerful hardware for the same price!

Rancidpunk got a reaction from FeIIex in GSYNC
It's really all down to your hardware, if your rig can output for example 120-160fps then Gsync will smooth it out at 144hz but no amount of Gsyn/Freesync will really help if your cpu and gpu aren't powerful enough.

You need to turn off vsync if you are running gsync.

Depends, I believe this PC is being built in Brazil judging by the link shared earlier, so I'm aiming for a more conservative budget. If the 3600 fits in the budget then it would be a solid choice, but saving money with the 3300X is definitely also worth it.

I know everybody says the stock coolers on Ryzen are good, but I've bought 3 Ryzens in the past few months and have ultimately upgraded the cooling on all of them.  If you do anything that involves a sustained load, your temps are likely to hit 80 degrees, which is just too much for me even if it's technically acceptable.  If you don't plan on doing anything CPU intensive, the cooler is definitely fine, but never having to worry about it is, to me, worth an extra 50-100 dollars (particularly at the cost of the build you're planning)

Rancidpunk got a reaction from Demonking in AMD not supporting Zen3 on older motherboards :(
To be fair AMD must have watched at least some of the many, many reviewers telling people that X570 boards weren't worth the expense unless you need PCIe 4 as a good B450 board had you covered for the upgrade path to Zen 3.

If AMD had felt the need to continue building their corporate reputation as the plucky underdog fighting for the consumer they could have easily cleared up this confusion and even gone as far as releasing the B550 boards much earlier.

They chose to ride the wave of Ryzen upgrade-ability hype instead, no  big surprise from a corporate entity really and perhaps we consumers should remember that whatever we choose to believe of AMD, apple, intel, etc. is only the public face presented to us very carefully by their marketing startegists.
