  1. I have been tasked with redesigning our training database at work. I'm having a hard time trying to decide if I make a separate table for those who can add, update, and remove entries. Everyone at work will have a training entry in the system, so If I have a separate table with just those with permission to do the entry work, I will be doubling some data as I am seeing it in my head. I am wondering how others out there would go about this? One table with all employees and one users? Or just one table with a permissions field(s)? Just looking for suggestions, I know there are most likely many ways to tackle this.
  2. @TofuHaroto You're right! Thanks guys! Its a gift and why not!
  3. @WereCatf !!!ROLF!!! Yes value is correct. My next build plan is Zen3 when it comes out. Been saving for the new GPUs this fall. @TofuHaroto I just don't know if its worth the small gain and the thermal paste at this point! Tried to see if my brother in law wanted to use the 8700k, but he just went and bought a Ryzen 3700 system.
  4. I got home from work this morning to see a box on my desk. Opening it up I find a i9-9900k. Reading the card, I find that my kids along with my parents have bought me an upgrade! Im happy with my 8700k, but I don't want to disappoint them and not make use of the CPU... What is a proud dad to do? Return it and get them their money back for something I really could use? Put it in my system and use the 8700 for another build? My kids can't use it, they all have Ryzen based systems that I just built them this past Christmas. I know my system can handle the 9900k, but argh... What would you do?

    Help

Did you uninstall and reinstall the drivers? Before spending anymore money, it would be a good idea to make sure you don't have a driver or software issue.
  6. I have not. I came here to ask about options because I’ve seen where others have had issues with the ML310e and other non MS operating systems. Kinda jumped at a $150 server before I did the research. It’s new in the box and I had the drives already looking at an Asustor NAS. I would like to learn both Linux and Windows server options, I a starting classes for networking in a couple months. Figured I’d get a head start and get my personal network sorted out also.
  7. Yep, skill level outside of Windows Destop - 0! I am taking class in Networking here soon. I have signed up for the classes but have not started. I want to learn, but I also need to deploy something in the mean time with the file storage. 6 PCs independly syncing to the cloud is killing my bandwidth!
  8. Seems like when reading in the NAS Os forums they are "Do it all" power houses! NAS OSs - nope WSE 19 - nope WSS 19 - Yes??? Does it come with any CAL or do I have to buy them from the start? I figure I'm going to need 6 just for the family in the house. From what I read I may even need some for running services. Even with my student discount, just to get the 25 users/ 50 machines would be like $250USD.
  9. I just bought a HP Proliant ML310e v2 new in the box for cheap... Trouble is that I don't have a clue what OS to use on it!!! I was going to get a NAS like Synology, but I couldn't beat the price of this ML310e with 4 HS Bays. My goals are to: centralize the file storage on my family home network use a cloud backup for files from the server PlexMedia Server (Docker?) Modded Minecraft Server (Docker?) Windows10 VM (DVD Encoding) Website hosting for a project I'm working on (PHP/SQL) Backup game installs with Steam's built in backup Learn something new I have 4x 4TB WD Red drives that I want to RAID5(?) to get 12TB of storage. Questions/problems I cant find anything on installing anything like OMV or FreeNas onto the ML310e. I have seen where other HPE products have problems using non paid OSs. Will the Integrated Smart Array B120i SATA RAID Controller be a problem with something like OMV or FreeNas? As a student I can get Windows Server Essentials 2019 for cheap, but I am reading that it has limitations and complex setup for what I what to do. Can I get OMV or FreeNas to boot from a USB Flash (2x Redundant) on this hardware? If using WSE2019, can I get another SATA drive for the OS in the machine to boot from? (from what I have seen it wants to boot from the SATA HDD Array disk 1 only) I'm sorry if I am not clear on what I am trying to do here. This whole server hardware and bios thing is new to me! I want to learn and may have jumped in too deep for a first timer! lol! Thanks for any help I get!
  10. Need help deciding which I should use on my new case. I have an Intel Core i7-8700K in an In-Win 101 case with a Corsair H100i Pro now. I get idle temps now around 31c with a room temp of 28c. When i game I see average temps kick up to around 80c. My GPU (Gigabyte RTX 2080 Xtreme) gets rather hot at about 75c. I sure that's not helping the CPU temps at the H100i pulls air from the case. Pulling air into the case, on the bottom, is 3 Corsair ML120 fans. These blow directly on the GPU helping to keep it a little cooler. The new case is a NZXT H700. I plan to put the AIO in the front pulling fresh air into it, hoping this will help with CPU temps. I will have the 3 Corsair ML120 fans mounted to the top of the case to exhaust the hot air. So, I guess the question is, will upgrading to a H150i Pro keep temps down a little and not bake my GPU since it will not have the bottom fans to help cooling? i also plan to use the Phanteks vertical GPU mount on the GPU. I plan to use the old case on a i5-6400 setup for my little on. If I upgrade to the bigger AIO, I will use the current one on this system. Most likely overkill for that CPU, but I'm sure its better than the stock heatsink.
