Considering they're all new stores? Yup. Fake.
I hope you don't get your money back. There needs to be some form of punishment for being that naive.

You're right, it just means they perform worse at gaming.
And no, you don't need 32 threads to do "science homework" so it is a waste of money.

If you're shopping for a low-end AIO...you must as well consider high end air cooling as they perform better than single 120 radiator.
Low-end AIO are usually...not worth it IMO.

I'll probably say my Motorola Cliq 2.
Had a decently large developer community, got the phone running Froyo, Gingerbread, ICS and even Jelly Bean.
Did most of my high school essay the morning it was due and usually got a very high grade for it. This was only possible due to the QWERTY keyboard it had....loved that thing.

itsmyjobtoknow got a reaction from needlessly_weekday in Are unbranded graphics cards any good?
Those are completely fake graphics card. They are most likely biosed hacked to show up as a 750 Ti in software, but in reality it's probably some low end GPU they got for cheap.

Dead giveaway: The Nvidia logo on the card is yellow-ish, and not the green Nvidia uses for all of their products.
Another dead giveaway: Nvidia themself don't even put sticks of their name on the fans itself...so why would anyone else?
Another dead giveaway: The 750 Ti is a 128-bit bus, and not a 192-bit as the sticker says on the back.

itsmyjobtoknow got a reaction from CrustyTissue in Surface pro 4 or nah?
As a Computer Science student in Uni, I've gotten by with an i3 laptop with 8GB of ram for over two years of programming (C, C++, Java) and running VM to program in assembly.
The laptop itself cost me 350USD brand new...(wasn't even on sale)(closer to 500USD after buying an SSD and ram upgrade)

So I don't think you need to buy a Surface Pro, it isn't necessary for Uni, you should probably get a cheaper laptop that performs just as well and re-allocate that money elsewhere.

itsmyjobtoknow reacted to 79wjd in Surface pro 4 or nah?
The only concern isn't necessarily cost. I prefer taking notes on my Surface rather than dealing with multiple notebooks. Plus, there are some classes where it's far easier to take notes if you can just annotate the slides.

I'm a CS major myself, and I have no issues taking notes on my SP3. I bought it specifically for taking notes in Math and CS courses (and that's why I got the cheapest used model I could -- $500 including a pen and a type cover, and I could probably still sell it for about $450 even now), and I have no complaints with it for that purpose.

itsmyjobtoknow got a reaction from 79wjd in Surface pro 4 or nah?
While yes, some classes it would be easier to annotate slides, there are some professors that don't provide the slides, and some that don't even let you use a laptop in the class. (Not talking about CS classes, but rather speaking about the "non-important" courses the University makes you take)

And for me personally, it doesn't feel natural to hand-write something and have no feedback. (But that is my personal opinion)

But if we were talking about a brand new SP4 at 1000USD, I can't bring myself to buy something like that where I can get a laptop (for the same performance) and notebooks for cheaper. And textbook cost aren't cheap..so I rather put the money I saved on a SP4 into the cost of textbooks.

A tip about textbooks, most you don't actually need, and the ones that you do need you can occasionally find a For-India published edition for a fraction of the cost (and almost always they're identical).

Anyway, to each their own (I wouldn't spend $1000 either, that's why I got myself the cheapest I could find -- for $500).

itsmyjobtoknow reacted to 007agentHP in Is it Possible to Unlock a gtx 970 to a 980?
    IIRC

ever since the days of the 600s nvidia physically disabled (basically broke) the cores from poor yields of the 680 to cut it down to a 670
so you couldn't enable the cores on a 670 to a 680 like you could with a 570 to 580 (not 100% sure)

but the issue with amd was that the R9 290 got caught in the insane bitcoin mining craze, and to keep stock up, it had to take working 290X cores and cut them down to 290s to meet demand. thats why some can unlock 290s to 290xs

Have you tried using Window's generic wireless driver?

I've noticed that the generic driver worked before I install Intel's driver.

If that doesn't work, it might sound to me that your OS is at fault.

Most Z77 motherboard doesn't support NVMe drives.

The only manufacturer that did release a bios update for NVMe support on Z77 is AsRock.

So you have two options now, either find a way to get NVMe support onto your motherboard which involves modifying BIOSes, or return the NVMe drive and get something like an HyperX Predator PCI-e based SSD.

    A. You have a B150 board with a K SKU CPU....so either get a 6700 or get a Z170 board.
    B.  I don't think the 1080 is worth buying at the moment, especially the FE since it's so bloody expensive.
    C. Since this is such a high end build, I would probably recommend something that is 80 Plus Gold At least, something from EVGA, Seasonic would do.
    D. 8GB of RAM....is not remotely future proof....
