JT8101997 got a reaction from BiG StroOnZ in The Cake is a Lie - Water Cooled Portal PC
Got a good update for you all. I started putting things together and I'm pretty happy with how this looks so far.
First off I had to put these little silicone pads on the corners of every fan. Which took longer than you'd think.
Next up was mounting the fans on the two 360 EK radiators
Cool thing about the 780t is the extra space in front and up top for mounting fans, so I went for a push pull setup
One thing that really bothered me though was the fact that corsair claims you can fit a 360 rad in the front. And while I got it to work, it was a real pain. There's these annoying bumps underneath the bay that don't seem to serve any real purpose yet stick out just enough to block a radiator from lining up properly. So I ended up having to cut part of that off. It's covered by the radiator now so you can't see it, but it was still disappointing that they designed it this way. They clearly didn't test their claims or just didn't care.
I thought this was kind of funny. I installed a dual lcd temp display on the front bay so I could monitor the loop temps and it made a face with the cd drive. So idk if I'll leave it like that or just remove the cd drive since I shouldn't need it too often anyways. Just like to have the option since I already had one. Entertaining none the less.
And I guess there's an upload limit so I'll have to split this post up to add more pictures.

Hello!
As you probably guessed, this is going to be a portal themed build. I can't even tell you how excited i am for this. A few years ago i was building a similar PC and ran into nothing but bad luck. The paint shop i brought my case to didn't bother to spell check before airbrushing ?, as well as some parts being stolen and I ended up not having the money to fix/replace things. BUT THE DREAM IS STILL ALIVE! Fear not my fellow portal fans, it's time for me to upgrade and oh boy is this going to be fun. So if you're as big of a portal dork as i am feel free to follow my build and I'll do my best to keep you all updated along the way.
I have all my parts ordered already and they should be arriving soon.
Case: Corsair 780t
CPU: i9-9900K
RAM: 32gb DDR4 (4x8gb)
Mobo: Asus Prime Z390-A
GPU: 2X EVGA 2080 XC
Storage: 2x Samsung 1tb SSD (raid 0)
2x 6tb WD Black (raid 1)

RAM came in last night and I got it installed this morning. I really like the look of it. Trying to cram as much white as possible inside this build lol. Since these are RGB I'm going to set the color to blue to match the cpu water loop.

JT8101997 reacted to Opencircuit74 in PS2 High performance PC Build
Oh no. I just saw this, and remembered that I have 2 broken PS2 phats that I was going to modify, and after seeing this I just have to. After you finish this, please hit me up with how it went. I might actually start working on this right now, hmm...

JT8101997 reacted to Mnky313 in PS2 High performance PC Build
Short story, Me and a few friends are working together to make a PC inside a PS2 chassis (fat), we have been planning it out for a while now and just ordered an old PS2 to get accurate measurements because we can't find accurate measurements online, we are working off of one image from a forum 7 years ago and some guy's sketchup model, but so far we might have it theoretically working with an optical drive and internal FlexATX PSU, I attached some images and here is a PC parts list (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KH2cmq), there might be enough room if we lightly modify the heatsink for the GPU to have some of those controller port to USB adapters, as well as a rear 3d-printed or acrylic backplate with custom holes for the I/O and airflow cut into it. questions and ideas/flaws you might see would be appreciated, thanks!

that's awesome, and you guys are awesome for doing this!
the first thing that springs to my mind tough is temperatures. how are you going to keep this thing cool enough to function when under some load? if i recall correctly the PS2 wasn;t that big on airflow options ?

JT8101997 reacted to xc0rz in My first rigid loop
As the title says this was my first go at it. Let me know if you have any feedback for me .
I had some feedback saying the first tube going into the GPU was ugly, how would of you guys done it. Also I know that i messed up and the 2nd fan on the 240 couldn't fit because of the release valve. It's on the other side of the rad, I just couldn't be bothered fixing it at the time hehe.

JT8101997 reacted to Lathlaer in x299 to z390 back to x299 back to z390 - First Custom Loop
Yeah, this is for the best. Whenever I feel like conversation between me and my uninitiated relatives/friends would touch the subject of the cost of a high end liquid cooled PC rig, I either try to steer away the conversation or flat out underestimate it by at least 50%
I was wondering, since the latest picture is from different angle - did that S fitting allow you for a more parallel routing of the vertical tube? In the picture before it was more crooked in relation to the radiator.
Anyway, looking good man! ?

Somewhat off topic, but in the third image the woman is framed in the Motherboard cut-out and it amused me
Sick build though, I'll be watching!

JT8101997 reacted to ccRicers in [Scratch build] 3D printed 4.2L case build, mini ITX GPU
I'm building another small form factor PC, this time in a 4.2 liter case that can fit a short GPU.
This case was 3D printed by a third party supplier, using Markforged One printer and Onyx filament. This filament is more expensive than most FDM filament, but it's also a bit tougher than ABS plastic with some more flex to the material. The motherboard tray is in two parts due to print area limits of the printer. Not sure yet whether to stick with that or use acrylic for the tray. Top and side vented panels will be made of acrylic.
Full album:

You can see that the top piece of the motherboard tray is still missing. Once I get this piece in the right dimensions I could add all the main components to the case. Afterwards, I can get the side panels made and finish the build.
Here are the specs of the case:
Material: Onyx (vinyl with carbon fiber) and 3mm acrylic Dimensions: 199mm x 200mm x 105mm (4.18L) Motherboard: Mini ITX GPU: max length 175mm, dual slot SSD support: m.2 plus 1x 2.5" (on the bottom) CPU cooler: max height 39mm PSU: Internal DC-DC only, or Meanwell 200w -

Massive Portal fan here, can't wait to see how this build turns out.
Shipping can suck around Christmas time. Hope you don't get many more delays.

Pt. 2
I got the processor seated and installed the water block
Coolers removed and water blocks installed on the 2080's as well
Lastly, I installed the motherboard into the case along with both the cards
And that's it for now. Thanks for checking out my build
Ps: sorry if the picture quality isn't the best, I'm using my phone camera for now but once the build is finished I'll be taking some nice photos with my dslr

Oh and I forgot to mention the ram will be coming in soon but shipping was delayed for some reason. I'm also waiting on some cool case parts including custom gpu backplates from coldzero. Which should help add a lot more white to the inside of the case how I want it. More updates coming soon.

$297 I believe, good guess. A little overkill maybe, but with everything else I got I might as well go all out lol. I barely spend money on anything other than food, gas and bills so I figured I'd spoil myself for once
