Out of curiousity, and to try and troubleshoot my PC, does having Windows unactivated cause automatic restarts? I´ve heard of this, but failed to see any sources.

No worries, just to be sure, you refer to "unlicensed versions" as in pirated versions of Windows? Because I didn´t pirate my Windows, I simply created a Media Instalation Tool from Microsoft´s website, and installed the OS, without inserting a key code, hence "unactivated", so does the rebooting policy also apply in these cases?

Seeing the almost insignifcant price diference between adding 4GB and 8GB, I might as well go ahead with the 8 GB, even though it won´t be the main coding device I use.

Yeah, that´s pretty much the plan, the only reason I´m looking into a laptop solution is because some classes absolutey demand something to code on in the class and I´m obviously not going to hog an E-ATX glass case around.

Well I´ve never dare code with it because right now it´s borderline unusable, that´s why I´m asking for an opinion on a theoretical spec sheet. Also my coding experience is extremely limited so I wasn´t sure if there would be any aspect that would be heavy of not, but I guess as long as I avoid GPU heavy programs on it I should be fine.

I´m about to start my Computer Science course and I´m preparing everything that´ll be necessary. I have a pretty powerful custom desktop rig, however I´ll also need something portable. To solve this I´m considering refreshing my old Asus notebook, it has a i5 4200u, a GT 720M, 4gb of DDR3 RAM and a 500gb hard drive; I´m thinking of adding another 4gb of RAM (thankfully it has an easily available SO-DIMM slot), swapping out the HDD for a SSD and putting in a new battery. As far as I can see, the course starts with some Python, then branches out to Java, C#, C++... pretty much most mainstream languages. I´m aware one doesn´t need a super powerful rig to code, however do you think this renewed laptop will be a bottleneck in any way while coding? Thank you in advance.

So I´m very indecisive in relation to which iPad model I should aquire. It will be primarily for note-taking, however I would very much like for it to remain at a decent enough operating speed for the next 4-5 years, I lose my patience very easily to lag. The 12.9" screen is captivating for me so I´m going to go with the 2017 Pro or the 2018 Pro, my question is if the new one is worth the extra cash, and if I opt for the 2017 model, will it become unbearingly slow in 4 years. Here´s the deal, I´m going to university in a year and I am already preparing the stuff I will need, I own a custom rig that I built myself that is pretty capable and I feel will last me another 5-6 years running everything super smoothly. Now my dilemma is what mobile computing device I should consider, because, right now, I´m pretty much 50/50 between an iPad Pro 12.9'' and a capable notebook like a LG Gram or a Surface Laptop 2. I haven´t quite decided on the course yet, but it will envolve some math, so the note-taking on the iPad would come of use for faithfuly copying a board cluttered with formulas and figures, but also some coding, but I imagine I could accomplish all of the coding necessary at home or with a school computer. Anyway, I would love some imput if you think one could go almost completey paperless with an iPad, and if it delivers a nice experience for basic laptopy stuff. Thank you in advance.

Greetings, I have been having random computer reboots on my custom built PC for a while now. The PC restarts without showing any type of blue screen or error. In the Event Viewer, the Event ID 6008 is displayed at the time of the reboot, if that is of any help. I have taken close notice on the thermals of the system and have not noticed any abnormality. I have also run various diagnostic programs such as MemTest, and have encountered no hardware issues whatsoever. Additionally, the system is plugged into a UPS, and the reboots occur whether it is plugged into it or simply plugged directly into the socket. These factors leave me to conclude that the issue is software related. Even though the reboots may occur at any moment, they are most frequent while and just after gaming, which is odd considering it is not a hardware issue at all; temps are low (45C for the CPU & 63C for the GPU, these numbers were taken while stressing both components for over an hour), and voltage is stable. When I was stressing the system it never crashed; it appears to only be triggered by actual games, any game, even Hearthstone. The system has been examined by a technician, who did not detect any hardware issues, as I suspected. I have updated the BIOS, as well as disabling XMP, and have tried all those power management tricks tha seem to work for a lot of folks, like setting the minimum processor state to 5%, and still nothing has changed, also, as far as I know of, all drivers are up to date, even though this is kind of out of my league, I have always hated drivers. The issue has plagued the PC since day 1, so I can´t seem to pinpoint the source of the problem. Minor note, I do not have Windows activated. Thank you in advance.
