Sorry Linus, but most of what you wrote as a response felt Corporate at best, not genuine.
Quality of the videos when it comes to reviews, data and its consistency has fallen off a cliff, I unsubscribed to every single LMG channel except for LTT because of that months ago.

As for the GN video, most of the points are valid and hopefully light up a fire under you guys to actually do things slower and more carefully, most importantly please put more time into a video to actually meet the standards you preach about products you test constantly, thank you.

Shit on a new company because Linus believe nobody should buy their product or that he can't do no wrong. WTF...

Linus needs to be slap back down to reality.
It's the same garbage as the no warranty on their their store products, but now over other people's creations.

The rest of your response is a lot of playing the victim. Are we supposed to be sorry that Steve actually treated you guys like the multimillion dollar company you are and held you accountable for mistakes instead of giving you the "PC YouTuber good old boys fraternity" benefit of the doubt? Whatever harm GN does to you with this video won't be anywhere near as much harm as you did to Billet Labs by accepting a product and "reviewing" it with (you admit) no intention of ever doing anything except talking about how shitty it is, and that's even before we get to the matter of the sale, I'm sorry, auction.

I don't see the need for GN to contact LMG before publishing the video.
The community has been calling out LMG for month/year and Linus has done nothing to solve the problems. He rarely admits fault of his own when he does there's always a but.
Trying to contact Linus would only delay the release of this video.

    Summary
Taiwan based manufacturer of hardware, Gigabyte, has decided to attempt company self-destruct in the Chinese market

Original Gigabyte statement that caused controversy:

The original page was posted in mainland China of all things, a bold move to say the least.

    Rough translation:
However, Gigabyte ended up drawing attention to itself, leading to further discovery regarding its inconsistent About page

I'm not sure if it's clear on the forums, plus it's mostly in Chinese, but basically Gigabyte implies that Taiwan and China are separate on all its sites with the exception of their Chinese site, this was the top comment on their apology post on Bilibili, at the time of writing it's at 16397 upvotes compared to the apology post's 1668

Gigabyte statement in response, Google translated

Since this event has made its rounds on Chinese internet, JD.com, one of the two major e-commerce platforms in China, has hidden search results of Gigabyte products, currently the most viewed video criticizing Gigabyte has reached over 1 million views on Bilibili, and all commentary appears to be negative.

This is really just part of a series of escalating tensions between mainland China and Taiwan, it's likely some guy rather low on the corporate ladder decided put the line in. I don't want to go into the details too much but the situation between Taiwan and China is basically a civil war that didn't exactly end, there's a lot of history that most Westerners, even those that pay attention to politics don't really understand. The hostility between the two sides has been rising in the last few years. ASUS previously had a similar incident, except it was in the opposite direction, where an employee messed with company sponsorship of a streamer over the Taiwan issue without the appropriate authority.

You might want consider an Intel CPU with the iGPU, which allows you to use quick sync if that is desirable. The motherboard is definitely overkill. If there are some feature needs you can always use an extra pcie extension card. A windows key from various vendors will be a lot cheaper than a retail license. A single HDD drive might not be ideal as she might want to run RAID 1.

The RAM should be in the B2 and A2 slot or the A1 and B1 slot. So there would an empty slot in between each RAM stick. Afterwards you need to enable XMP in BIOS to get the full performance out of your RAM. Googled image for reference

I'm on a dusty i5-4690k as well. I went with the 3900X just for the extra cores. I tend have a bunch of other things running in the background when I game so I'm hoping more cores will help out in that regard. Although for your case I think the 3700x might be a better fit as suggested by others. The cost difference can go to GPU, which will do a lot more good there.

OnionFromOrion got a reaction from r2724r16 in PC Parts from Auctions
Anyone else ever try to buy parts from auctions?

Picked up a 24 inch Acer V243HL for around $35 USD 2 years ago, came from a company selling their old IT equipment. It also came with a garbage keyboard and mice, which I threw into the trash. It's now with my parents and used pretty much all day, definitely a good purchase.

More recently I picked up an Intel NVMe 256 GB M.2 SSD less than a year old for around $20 USD, with a few 256 GB 2.5inches Samsung SSDs that were around 2 years old for the $20 each. The Samsungs were probably fair prices second hand compared to the bargain that was the Intel. Given the model numbers and another auction on the same site, I believe they came from Lenovo laptops which were put up in a separate auction. Given the volume I assume it came from a Lenovo distributor, but I don't have clear info on that. Currently waiting on delivery for those.

Update: all the drives work fine. Great addition to my new build
