  1. It's also public opinion at this point. Cross-strait hostilities has gone up significantly since COVID and Gigabyte is likely trying to avoid a H&M style consumer boycott
  2. Summary Taiwan based manufacturer of hardware, Gigabyte, has decided to attempt company self-destruct in the Chinese market Original Gigabyte statement that caused controversy: The original page was posted in mainland China of all things, a bold move to say the least. Rough translation: However, Gigabyte ended up drawing attention to itself, leading to further discovery regarding its inconsistent About page I'm not sure if it's clear on the forums, plus it's mostly in Chinese, but basically Gigabyte implies that Taiwan and China are separate on all its sites with the exception of their Chinese site, this was the top comment on their apology post on Bilibili, at the time of writing it's at 16397 upvotes compared to the apology post's 1668 Gigabyte statement in response, Google translated Since this event has made its rounds on Chinese internet, JD.com, one of the two major e-commerce platforms in China, has hidden search results of Gigabyte products, currently the most viewed video criticizing Gigabyte has reached over 1 million views on Bilibili, and all commentary appears to be negative. This is really just part of a series of escalating tensions between mainland China and Taiwan, it's likely some guy rather low on the corporate ladder decided put the line in. I don't want to go into the details too much but the situation between Taiwan and China is basically a civil war that didn't exactly end, there's a lot of history that most Westerners, even those that pay attention to politics don't really understand. The hostility between the two sides has been rising in the last few years. ASUS previously had a similar incident, except it was in the opposite direction, where an employee messed with company sponsorship of a streamer over the Taiwan issue without the appropriate authority. 3. Don't have one myself, but they can be imported from taobao in China. Also a few sellers on Ebay.
  4. Where would the Enhance 7660B fit in this? It seems to be recommended for flex PSU SFF builds. It has OPP, OVP, OCP, OTP, UVP, SCP, no load protection, active PFC, 80plus plat according to: http://www.enhance.com.tw/new/enp7600-platinum-400w-600w/
  5. You might want consider an Intel CPU with the iGPU, which allows you to use quick sync if that is desirable. The motherboard is definitely overkill. If there are some feature needs you can always use an extra pcie extension card. A windows key from various vendors will be a lot cheaper than a retail license. A single HDD drive might not be ideal as she might want to run RAID 1.
  6. When you choose the XMP profile in BIOS does it say DDR4-3200 16-18-18-36 1.35V? Also, are your BIOS updated to the latest version?
  7. The RAM should be in the B2 and A2 slot or the A1 and B1 slot. So there would an empty slot in between each RAM stick. Afterwards you need to enable XMP in BIOS to get the full performance out of your RAM. Googled image for reference
  8. I have both a 1080p 144Hz and 4k 60Hz monitor right now. I'd say keep the 4k monitor. The increase in smoothness from 144Hz is not anywhere near as noticeable as going from 30 to 60Hz. Monitors live for a long time, 2-3 years from now 4k gaming will be a lot more viable and common considering that even consoles will be doing it.
  9. Well to begin with I'd check the software part, did you update to Windows 10 1903? Try rolling that back. Hardware wise since you haven't changed anything, nothing should be wrong there. But maybe you got a new desk and that blocks off some of the vents or dust has started to cause heat issues so your hardware is throttling so on.
  10. I have a pure rock sitting on my 3900X right now so as long as it's not ancient stock from years ago it should be fine. However most coolers in that tier and price will do.
  11. The CPU cooler is a bit overkill, go with a hyper 212 or something else in the same tier. For example the Be Quiet! Pure Rock, and stick with the default paste. The RAM could be a bit faster, 3000MHz or higher preferrably. A standard refresh rate 1440p monitor is not bad, especially at 24 inches but you could also look at a 144Hz 1080p monitor instead. If you end up with savings I'd put it towards the GPU budget.
  12. There was an AGESA 1.0.0.3ABA issue that messed with PCIE, so if you have that you'll have to get the older versions.
  13. The Silverstone RL06 does have good airflow, but cable management aren't that good on it either, not too much room in the back. Other popular cases would be the Fractal Design Meshify C and mesh versions of the Cooler Master H500.
  14. Arctic cooling does air coolers fit. EK's waterblocks are for custom loops. NZXT's G12 does not appear to work with the 5700XT if you are considering that for the AIO route.
  15. Mid august unless you live somewhere stock comes in a little slower. If you really need a 5700XT right now, there are also compatible aftermarket solutions from Arctic Cooling and waterblocks are coming soon from EK and others.
