It may be platinum, but it's still CWT.

True. It was kind of the first thing that popped into my head... I'll edit it to 1200W.

    At all of you:

Linuis did a dual 780Ti PC build with overclocks and it had 625W draw on a synthetic test. A 1000W PSU should be fine

^ This. Unless you were running like a 80+ Platinum PSU from a trusted company... But then you'd be better off with like a 1200W 80+ Gold PSU from a trusted company.
Edit: Had a bit of a high wattage recommendation. My bad.

    Well

    3x 780Ti (250W) = 750W
    5960X = 140W

CPUs and GPUs alone at stock = 890W

Add in an overclock and other system components and you'll be very close to 1000W. I wouldn't do it for the sake of reliability. Consider getting a 1200W PSU if you really want a 3rd GPU, but consider that 3+ GPU scaling sucks.

I don't think it's enough. Either way I strongly doubt you need 3 780tis and I also doubt you want the hassle

I'd say no, upgrade your PSU, if that's not too much of a deal

1500W is a bit much. 1200-1300 would be perfect.

Okay? Believe it or not some games can actually cause more power draw then during synthetic tests, especially if the synthetic test stresses only the GPU(s) and not much of the CPU, because newer games stress both. Assume 250W for another overclocked 780Ti, 625+250=875, still higher then what I'd want to pull from an HX1000i and not to mention that in actual demanding stuff that number can go over 900 easily

Nice. Though the green led really stands out. There's a mod that makes the green LEDs on the GPU turn white on the forum. I think you just get some sand paper and rub it until it turns grey, but look up the mod to make sure you do it right.

Thats pretty good .. with ok temps and all?  i get 5 ghz at 1.420 volts but i am a bit scared if it will degrade my chip in the long run with a voltage over 1.4..  so i feel safer with 4,8 ghz at 1.360 volts... actually its 1.325 volts in bios but cpuz says 1.360 so the loadline or something is pushing it up a bit i guess..

The highest i have ever been able to get my 3970X at, is 5.2Ghz @ 1.450V stable. I ran it for a week being at that, then desided that there really was no need for it and bumped it back down to 4.8Ghz and that's were it has been ever sense. I'm almost positive i could go  higher just have never tried it past 5.2

Absolutely.. i bought it just beacause i wanted to have one.. i got a system with a 4770k (h)aswell wich does what i need just aswell as the 4960x.. or better if you consider money. but that wasn't what my thread was about

I dont have a 4960X but I do have the 3970X at 4.8ghz at 1.3v and since the 4960X is only 4.5 % faster in real world performance, I think i can inlude it into this convo. Honestly you buy these chips just to have them, no other reason then bragging rights of having the highest consumer Intel chip. The price to perfomance does not even come close to justifying the price and performance over the 3930K and the 4930K.

WD greens have a tendency of 'dropping' out of a raid when they go into low power consumption mode. Also for a RAID you need to have drives of equal size or ells you'll lose 2TB of that 3TB drive.

5, you won' get amazing speeds, but it's the best solution, since you have 3 drives.

Yeah, RAID5 is basically the only somewhat safe option utilizing three drives. You could throw one of them out of RAID and go for mirror, or throw in one more and get RAID10, I guess...

Although rebuilding RAID5 array in case of a disk failure can be long (you're looking at about 12 hours here, might be even more, depends on hardware/software, less with dedicated RAID card, more with onboard RAID) and it really stresses the other hard drives during the rebuild - occasionally that might turn out really bad.
