FYI, the 2TB 860 I bought a couple of months before the 870, has no errors.

andarhan reacted to Pixelfie in Should I get a new GPU?
Honestly I would upgrade the CPU to a 12400 (not F), since you plan on upgrading the motherboard and CPU anyway. The Intel iGPU has Quicksync which can be used for encoding, and it looks better than Nvenc. The 12400 should also get rid of the CPU bottleneck and give you PCIe 4.0 which would be a huge improvement for that 6500 XT.

I don't recommend 30 series, assuming you're probably looking at a 3050 or 3060. They're bad value, as a 6600 can be found for much cheaper than both, and it's close to a 3060 in performance + it also supports encoding. A 2060 would be fine too, but only if it's more than 10% cheaper than a 6600 which it sometimes is.

andarhan reacted to Shimejii in Predictions for the 4090 Pricing
its gonna stay like that for about a year, then the 4090ti will come out, it will drop by maybe a 100$, or they will again just make the 4090ti 2000-2200$. Depends on if they actually do the 48 GB of memory or not, if so then yeah expect it to be like 2500-3000$ and pretty much be pointless for most gamers and such. The Architecture and Cores will be the bottleneck long before 24 GB let alone 48 GB becomes the problem, although other apps will like it.

Dont ever use Userbenchmark, its not a valid benchmark.

As a warning, if you have any shut offs mid gaming, you may need a PSU that is 850-1000W, but if not then dont worry about it.

Otherwise its gonna limited if you play at 1080pby a bit, but other than that? Youll be fine for the most part.

If I understand that table correctly, yes.

with one GPU you can both run the m.2 slots at PCie 4.0. @andarhan

andarhan reacted to WereCat in Is it a bad time to get a new Monitor?
There is only like 5 monitors with HDR and local dimming that are actualy usable. It's not worth it to go that route yet unless you have a lot of money to throw around and you will always have to decide betweeb high refresh rate content and good looking content because of the added latency from HDR and local dimming. It's not without tradeoffs.

IMO, you should just wait a little longer or give up on HDR as it's mess and hassle on WIndows still. Also if you want to play at responsive high refresh rate then you also don't want to use HDR because that adds extra processing and latency, it's not without disadvantages. If you want it for watching content then sure, but TV would do a lot better job for cheaper than a comparable monitor.

Well, over that with high price you can get luke 4K 240Hz FALD or even UW QD-OLED even. Again pricey but is upgrade.
But as far as title, I'd say yeah, better wait, especially if you already have something solid and want to save up for something more premium. Which it seems soon enough the top tier will be more worth it per say with reasonable price, with QD-OLED and new DP 2.0 it will be a much better investment. So no need for DSC, actually per-pixel lit display and very fast. So both ways much better than LCD and most expensive LCDs are very overpriced for what they are. Like those FALD ones, meh. Was just a wake up call when even first QD-OLED was priced like so.

Also Id get rid of the overprovisioning, no reason to not have the space available in the C partition.

No need to do a fresh install, tools like MBR2GPT will do it without a reinstall or usb.

No need to clone or reinstall, you can convert to gpt with this tool https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/mbr-to-gpt

    Make a backup first though.

Is it Disk 2 or Disk 4?
If it's Disk 2, delete the 2 partitions (backing up any necessary data on them), right-click on Disk 2, and select "Convert GPT".
If it's DIsk 4, you'll have to reinstall Windows under GPT instead of MBR.

Gen 4 drives will be useful in the future once Microsoft enables Direct Storage, but at the moment for pure gaming there's basically no difference. You could wait for a sale and buy one cheaper when Direct Storage is available.

Get the 970 evo. Gen 4 is not worth the extra 100€. If you want get a larger capacity of SSD if you want to spend extra.

    You should be able to.

I'd also recommend you assign it a static LAN IP within your subnet, but outside of the DHCP pool.

Next gen ryzen will still be am4, so ddr4. But the next after that will be ddr5.

If your current cpu works fine no reason to change it.
