  1. Budget (including currency): I am building it in parts so a bit of a pointless factor but lets say 300-600 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Path of exile and a few games like hades cyberpunk, a little fusion 360 and AutoCAD Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Alright so I am in a little bit of a spot I got at home pc that is good but I live in uni dorms 5 days a week. I got an old pc and its basically everything fucks except power supply which is corsair rm850x graphics card which is a 1080 ti and the SSDs. I might upgrade the graphics card and power supple later but that's a later thing. So I need new cpu new ram new mother board new case. I would like these to be micro or mini I don't know which is classed as smaller. Its single screen. I am gonna say a budget of 300 as a ball park but if its like it be stupid not to spend 350 for a large upgrade ok fair enough but if it enters anymore then that its a wait until next months payment sort of thing. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
  2. Budget (including currency): 1000ish Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Autocad, fusion 360, lightburn with gaming in mind Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My laptop broke so I followed the suggestions of one user and upgraded a really old PC and am really happy but it lacks the mobile nature the labtop had which is why I went with it in the first place. Hence I plan to reuse some parts to make a 2nd leave on location pc. The only part from my previous PC I think I could really refuse are the power supply being a corsair rm850x and a gtx 1080. Cpu ram and motherboard are all ancient and need a new SSD as its just a crucial 250 gb 2.5 inch ssd and a 1 tb seagate barracude 2.5 inch spinney disk. I want it to be small form factor since I will be driving it to and from college and my laser cutter about 20ish times a year so mini itx or micro would be optimal (not a clue which one is smaller between mini or micro but small basically). I understand how the smash all the parts together but when it gets into specs of which motherboard chipset for this and that I get confused. So a parts list is pretty much all I need. I put 1000 as a rough budget as I don't really know how much you need to throw but it is a 2nd pc not a main one and I am hoping to put some decent noctua fans in it to be considerate of others so not rgb focused.
  3. I am now way more confused. I went into bios and the card seems to be there but I was expecting "RX6750 XT" or something but it says "PCIe 4.0 x 16 @ 4.0 x 16" went into windows and its still missing. Not a trace of it anywhere but I noticed the LEDS on it are blue which means the gigabyte software that allows for custom lightning might have it saved the profile to the gpu or its detecting it but not allowing me to detect it, weird af. Anyway so I turned off swapped it to the 1080 to see if different and it says "PCIe 3.0 x 16 @ 1.0 x 16" so it can tell a difference between the graphics cards so the slot seems fine? however when I load into windows it still doesn't work. So I went though the entire gigabyte bios row by row to look for a PCIe disable thing and the doesn't seem to be one (B760 GAMING X AX DDR4 if that's useful). I then put the 6750 back in being cool now and it got hot af again even though its processing nothing. So tldr it seems to be detected in bios but not windows? I didn't know that was possible. (its ugly I know) Edit: ok now I am at a loss. In system information I am able to find the gpu but not to enable it in anyway?
  4. I had a go but turns out my corsair case wont let me do it without basically taking the entire pc apart so instead i got my old gtx 1080 and that is not detected either by the motherboard but also seems to get power so I believe it is the pcie slot that has randomly failed?
  5. I was playing and random I lost signal to my graphics cards. Motherboard display ports works fine. Tried all the display ports on the graphics card and it wasn't a cable problem. Plugged the DisplayPort into the motherboard so I could check software and the gpu is just missing but the lights on the graphics card are still on but the fans don't spin. I have checked and its 100% in the pci slot. Cant think of why it randomly isn't working unless the port on the motherboard just randomly died? it was surprisingly uncomfortably hot considering my cpu was like 35 and I was playing league of legends Edit: now I got the fans working randomly but still not detected by motherboard. The gpu has stayed extremely hot for an extended duration while not detect so I don't know what it is doing.
  6. it was a predator Helios 300 with a 2070 and core i7 - 9750H
  7. I want to quickly set the standards of how I am not tech smart I find it interesting but I barely put a pc together and don't know how to compare pc parts in any real format. Anyway my laptop died. It was a motherboard failure of some kind (what we don't know but repair was not a choice cause it cost £1700 which was the laptops new 4 years ago) I have school work on this laptop I need off it and the laptop does not enter bios or anything. I have built a new pc to do my work on that already has an OS installed and works on windows 11. The two drives from my laptop are a Western Digital nvme SSD with a windows 10 OS and is frankly shaped like a pringle. The other drive is a seagate barracude 1tb hdd (I believe its a hdd? doesn't seem hybrid) if I just put these into my motherboard will I be able to access the files on them? Will it have to undergo some form of format or can it damage my new pc in anyway? Pc repair stores me don't exist and PC world is frankly bloodily useless. Thanks to any help or info you guys can provide.
  8. I am fine with paying I just lack knowledge. So if I just buy these screw looking things it should work fine? I thought the holes changed area entirely so the shape be different needing more then just different stand offs.
  9. I recently upgraded to a 13500 with a B760 motherboard with the stock fan on and I have a brand new (tho has been sitting around for 4 years for a build that never happened) H150i pro but the mounting hardware does not fit. Is it possible to achieve new hardware that will make it fit and if it is what exactly am I looking for? I am based in the uk so we generally have less support for replacement parts.
  10. My helios 300 broke so I am currently using my old pc and a random monitor. The only two things I know about monitors are resolution and hz which where 1440p and 144. Apart from this I am completely in the dark as to panel types. This feature that feature. So I would love a recommendation from you wise people just a 1440p 144 hz monitor that is a nice none eye hurting monitor. I am based in the uk and the monitor that is frying my eyeballs out is a HP compaq LA2405wg which looks to be some old work monitor (which we have 6 of in the loaf for .... absolutely no clue my dad is a bit of a hoarder and I have seriously never seen these things before). Thanks in advance.
  11. Thank you I will follow this advise. In relation to actually making the changes when I swap the hardware will everything from the SSD act exactly as before or will it need or some formatting or alteration?
  12. Budget (including currency): £1000 Country: Uk Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Path of exile, Fusion 360, Autocad, Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I need help upgrading a VERY old pc as my laptop has been sent for to pc world (Had no other choice not exactly a fan of them). This has lead me to being forced to use my old pc which is heavily unsuited for modern enjoyment. The goal is to eventually be able to enjoy 1440p 120 fps on mostly Path of exile and league and be able to enjoy some normal games as these were the specs of my laptop and I want to get it to a similar standard. I also need it to be able to do fusion 360 and autocad for my university coursework. I know like the basics of pc building but I do not understand how people mix and match parts so I was unsure of do I follow a build guide for a 1080 or a newer gpu or take aspects from both ect? Hence why I am asking you guys cause you know more then me. The pc had the power supple blow up previously so the new one is decently new being a corsair mr 850x. The Graphics card is also decently new (well it was when it came out i guess) being a gtx 1080. So these are the parts I plan to upgrade last (if needed?). As for the mother board ram and cpu these are the areas I want to upgrade first as well I am not even sure how it survived this long tbh. The ram is 2 4gb sticks of corsair 1333 ddr3 The motherboard is a gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2 And the cpu is a AMD FX (tm)-6100 six core. (I said this pc is old af) After these I will upgrade the case, then SSD and then finally gpu. Once the pc is set up I need to get a decent monitor that doesnt fry my eyes so I need a recommendation for that. Surprising enough I had the common sense to get an SSD years ago so that is a back burner upgrade. As regarding budget I put £1000 but its more suitable to say "instances of £200-400 per month" as this is not something i have been saving for so will be doing segmented. Anyway thanks for any know league.
  13. My brother is looking for a sound system where you install a variable amount of speakers in the ceiling of his house with a device he can install in the wall to play music all throughout the house for parties and things. Much like you have in a shopping mall for example but he wants a nicer one. If you guys have any clue about this I would appreciate the help cause I am gonna be frank.. I know fuck all about audio stuff. Thank you
  14. is the any dedicated user or you-tuber who reviews radiators? I know like I need 2 360mm 30mm-45mm one in push pull and one in push but the doesn't really seem to be a tier list or review of the brands? is the no real wrong choices as long as it isnt thermal take for the whole stealing design thing?
  15. Simple question. What is everyone's favourite looking looking PSU? for me it has got to be the cougar the black and gold i just think looks nice.
