  1. Problem fixed. Re-installed Windows. My speculation is that because I upgraded from a 6700k which is a 4 core processor, there must have been some residual driver that was causing issues with the system. My rule of thumb has always been a fresh install every time I update but I got lazy this time. Problem fixed now. Thank you everyone for your input.
  2. Going to try a fresh install of windows, see if that helps. I've done a few upgrades on this computer and maybe some legacy setting or remnant is confusing it.
  3. 4 cores 8 thread on Task manager, CpuZ MSI afterburner all say the same thing.
  4. Cpuz, MSi afterburner, Core parker and task manager all say 4 core 8 thread.
  5. So I recently bought a 3700x, and so far I've really enjoyed it. However a few days ago I finally got around to overclocking it and I realized that it appears to be only running 4 cores and 8 threads instead of 8/16. It's been a while since I've ran AMD, so I've tried to go through the bios and find any setting, and I've tried to read online, I can't seem to find anything. I have no idea if this has always been like this, or it just happened when I overclocked it but it's just been bizarre. Any input is appreciated.
  6. I am looking at upgrading my computer soon. I may wait until the Ryzen 3 launch just to see how that goes or if Intel drops the prices a little bit, but if I do end up going the Intel route, my biggest concern is getting a motherboard that is Intel 9 series ready. I don't want have access to an 8700k to flash the bios so I'm curious what boards/manufactures would be ready without the hassle. I do gaming and have gotten into streaming recently so I do have my mind kind of set on the 9900k. Also, if anyone feels has recommendations, I'd appreciate I was planning on budgeting somewhere around $150-300 for the board.
