  1. It looks like it got bent, but you should still be able to mount fans on it using the clips unless the frame of the fan doesn't sit flat with the cooler at all.

I tried to mount the included fan, and the slimmer case fan included in the rvz01 but at the end (towards the PCI-E 16x slot) the fan can't mount because it is hitting the ram modules.

  2. Hey guys,

I am not quite sure if I should be posting this in troubleshooting but I mounted the fin array onto the processor but I couldn't get the fan on. I found that the fin array is on an angle which prevents the fan from being attached when the ram is present. Have I mounted it wrong or has the cooler been damaged in shipping because all the pictures I have seen of it are perfectly horizontal.

Here's a photo I took with my phone:

  3. Have you checked to see if the RAM height won't interfere with the CPU cooler? HyperX Beast is quite tall, and I'm not certain if the gap between the cooler and the RAM will be sufficient.

I have been looking into it and according to Silverstone's website the HyperX Beast module wont fit. Only low profile memory will fit it seems.

  4. Hey whats your max budget and what are you doing on this system

I will be both doing 3D modelling/rendering with Inventor as well as Revit. It will also be using the rig as a gaming machine. I do need the motherboard to have wifi, there is no way I can get an Ethernet cable to the modem from where the computer will be.

EDIT: Also, thanks for al the quick replies!

  5. I was under the impression that Broadwell wasn't being released until later on in the year but I am would certainly get the latest i5 or i7 and the z series board. I've haven't been able to find an EVGA magnesium cooler on PC Case Gear but I think Galaxy (or Galax now, I think?) may have a cheap plastic cooler.

    EDIT:

I can only find a plastic Galax reference 970 with a horrendous blue pcb on PC Case Gear

  6. Hello LTT Forum,

I am hoping to build my first pc after I graduate in a couple months time. This rig will primarily be used for gaming on ultra settings at 1080p, however, I am looking to purchase a 1440p or 21:9 1080p monitor after I save up more money. Also, I will be doing some occasional rendering in Autodesk Inventor and Rivet. I am aware that this is a while before I intend to build it but I have to clear this through my parents, so they can decide if it is okay for me to purchase the parts.

First of all, this (http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/wLYZWZ) is the build I want to do and I was hoping advice could be given on how to improve it in anyway.

Secondly, my room where the pc will be housed is directly below the room where our modem is currently located, thus I may have to settle for a pc with an on-board wifi card. My max budget is around $1600 (Australia) and I am wondering if you could advise me on a build that would be the best price/performance, but would allow me to connect to my modem via wifi. I already have all necessary peripherals, however an OS is needed, but it does not need to be included in the $1600 budget.

    Thank you in advance

  7. As I'm about to graduate at the end of the year, I can safely say that you really don't need a girlfriend in high school. I've managed to survive 5 years of being single and so has the majority of my friendship group (I go to an all guys school, so I don't really have a choice in the matter). To be honest I find high school relationships to be highly overrated based on certain stories I've heard...
