  1. I havent checked for a while TBH the cpu change is more of a case of future proofing but will check and report back
  2. thanks so far for the feedback yes it is M.S. flight sim which i have used for 35 years in its various states the gpu I have at the moment is a 2070 and i am waiting for prices to drop before getting a 3000 series replacement however the cpu i currently have is not being challenged much it varies around the 55% level however looking ahead if i need to replace a power supply for the new gpu i might as well chnage the m/b and cpu hence the question will the I52600kf be a good choice being 200 dollars cheaper than tyhe I7 or should i just go I7?
  3. Budget (including currency): Country: France Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi, i currently have an I7 9700kf which handles the sim fine however looking ahead i am wondering what cpu to replace it with i am looking at either an I712700kf or an I512600kf there doesnt seem to be too much difference in performance however there is a great difference in the price, which would you advise to use ?
  4. hi, having recently built a new rig for msfs i now see the spectre of PCIE4 coming up which will no doubt increase significantly a p.c,s performance. my first question is will an i7 9700kf understand pcie4 and make use of it~? do any of these 9th or 10th generation intel cpu's understand pcie4 coding? in the event that 9th gen cpus dont work with pcie4 i presume it will be a waste of time looking for a socket 1151 m/b with pcie4? looking forward too your thoughts n
  5. Thanks for all your thoughts!! i had not thought of looking at Intel speedstep but if there is no fear of damaging the cpu i will look into the speed step and other than that leave well alone
  6. i have a 9700 kf on an MSI gaming plus mb which is supposed to run at 3.6 mhz and turbo up to 4.7 however it is running all the time at 4.9 and i cannot slow it down, any ideas ? if i enable game mode it slows down to 4.7 but it never runs at 3.6 ideas welcomed
  7. i have an 17 9700KF mounted on an msi gaming plus z390 mb using a rtx2070 gpu and 32mb of 4000 memory, i have the cpu cooled by a be quiet cooler and fan. up till now all has been fine but summer has arrived and although msi afterburner keeps the gpu temps around 80 degs the cpu can run up to 99 degs. in default no overclocking mode the cpu is running at 4900mhz however if i activate gaming mode in the dragon center prog it slows the cpu down to 4700 mhz is this correct? as i do get a 5fps drop in performance, on the plus side in gaming (slow) mode the cpu temps drop to 75-80. I want to avoid going water cooling but i can clip another fan onto the cpu cooler, what are peoples thoughts please? Also i have had 4 140mm fans blowing inwwards on the phanteks 350x case and one exhaust fan is this slowing down the throughput of cold air i have turned one of the top fans around to see if that has any effect so now it is 3in 2 out
  8. thank you all for all your thoughts the ambient temperature is around 23 degs but if my temps appear correct i wont panic, just need to buy some ear plugs
  9. make sure the cooler is sitting properly on the cpu i had this some weeks ago and this was my problem
  10. you guys have always been a great help, i would like to know your thoughts on my gpu a rtx 2070 black which runs down at 35 degrees most of the time but as soon as i run my sim it is up at 70-72 degrees , i have adjusted the fans to run at 100% at 70 degs and also at higher rpm than normal below 70 degs but it does make a din, any ideas how to make it run cooler? or do they naturally run this hot ? according to heaven benchmark it is running at 2235 mhz and i have overclocked the memory by 1000mhz FYI i have a phanteks case with 4x1200 mm fans blowing inwards and 1 at the rear blowing outwards any thought would be appreciated N
  11. thanks for that but please help me out a bit more xmp profile?? and is there another setting to use an m.2 drive as well? your help is apprecaiated as it is a few years since i built my last p.c
  12. I am planning to use an I7 9700k with an z390 MB would i get a problem using corsair ddr4 3000mhz memory?
  13. must admit i was watching the amd stuff but have already bought an msi z390 m/b
  14. Another question if I may , I am an avid flight simmer with laminars X Plane, i am upgrading from a 2600k which has been doing a decent job but what would be a better buy to replace it an 8700k or 9700k?
  15. Many thanks guys you have just confirmed what I was thinking
  16. Hi its been many years since i last built a p.c. so would appreciate some help please. I am building a new p.c. with a nmve m.2 drive but also want to incorporate some older drives from my last p..c would it be best to install a fresh version of win 10 on the nvme drive then attach the old drives or boot from the old drives and then install the m.2. drive?
