  1. Hello!
I found a really good deal on a lightly used Quest 1. I don't have any USB C ports on my RTX 2060 or motherboard, so I was wondering if I can use USB type A? Or would I need a USB C PCIe expansion card?

    Thank you in advance!

I am 100% sure it didn't, if it did is there any way I can check if it actually did die?

To check if it actually died, you will need to try to install an operating system like Windows or Ubuntu (or whatever version of Linux you want). Under Custom install for windows, if your drive shows up, its fine. If it doesn't, its dead

  3. I have a FlySky 6ch transmitter and receiver for an RC boat that I am renewing. Last year, I built it but the rudder actuator broke in the middle of the lake and I could not swim in it as it was infested with leaches and I didn't have salt or a towel. (I bike to the lake) I left it over night and got it in the morning.

This time I am upgrading it with water cooling. I am going to do a DIY pump from a little brushed motor I have had sitting around for a while. I want to be able to power it from my receiver, but I would also like to be able to toggle the motor. Is there a good way to do this? I am not sure what channel I will connect it to, just as long as I can bind a switch to it (probably ch5).

Thanks for anyone who helps, it means alot to me!

  4. Guys, I found a good pinebook alternitive. It is an Acer C720 Renewed. I actually have one of these,(dad got it when it was new, but since got an actual windows PC) with the 2gb ram with a 64gb SSD, and you have yourself an OK laptop for around 100 dollars!

A guide for how to get windows up and running on it:

All of this was the exact same equipment and guides I used and was able to get it working. I cannot provide any benchmarks scores, as my dad wanted it back so I had to install ChromeOS back onto it. Once you follow all of this stuff, ChromeOS can be restored.

It performed all right, ran chrome, office applacations, and even extremely light games just fine. For the games, I played Factorio and Minecraft. Minecrafts settings had to be bare minimum and almost bare minimum for Factorio. Both games ran at about 30-40 FPS for me. I also tried Linux, and honestly, it performed similarly. I used both for about a year.

For someone on a budget looking for a cheap windows machine that can actually do something, as long as you are willing to do a bit of tinkering, you should be fine. But honestly, for 100 dollars, it is actually quite a good little computer. Also, one thing that separates this from the pinebook is that it can actually be a daily driver.

I'm not looking for performance, I'm not sure if you read the whole post or not. The only reason why I'm contemplating this is because I am going to already purchasing a second GTX 1080 founders edition from a friend for only 150 dollars. I'm not looking to spend 600 dollars.

Sorry. You could always buy it then sell both and get an RTX 2070

  6. 1. Windows 7 expiration date is coming up in less than 6 months, so switch to 10

    2. If you are packing that powerful of a rig, you should try upgrading power supply, I don't think the GPU was the issue. I think the PSU was not supplying enough power to the GPU, but this is just a guess.

    3. I recommend you look at benchmark scores and to figure out which one has better price to performance

  7. I have about 800-900 dollars (I will wait until Black Friday, and take as many cost saving measures as possible) to spend on an new laptop. I know for my budget, this is alot to ask for. I need at least a 1650ti (preferably rtx 2060, I need ray tracing as I will be running FS2020) and at least an i7 7th gen, preferably an i7 9750h. I also need good battery life (I am OK with disabling descrete graphics card for longer battery life) as I will be using it for school as well. It also needs to have a good trackpad, as I don't always carry a mouse with me. I will also be typing alot, so I need a good keyboard. I would also like keyboard backlights, preferably rgb(if not rgb, that is also fine, but it needs to have backlights). I have really been looking at the Dell G5 15, but I would like a 2 in 1. Any help appreciated!!

Ive seen this one too a long time ago. They stopped making them ages ago and i doubt they can get their hands on one.

Fsp just needs to make it fanless and people would buy it imo.

    Right?

I have been wanting to get a full custom water loop for such a long time but I felt like there was no reason to because my pc always had nice temps, but I wanted it because it looks so cool. Now that I've been saving up and got a new cpu and gpu I want to build a full water loop. I just got a rx5700xt and a ryzen 7 3700x. I just wanted to know if you guys can help me get a pick list on what I need to build this. I know the basics like you need fittings, tubing, radiator, pump, bla bla bla. But I dont know what radiator is better than a different one, or if a pump is not good or not. If you guys can be my pcpartpicker but for water cooling that would be awesome. I want to have clear tubing and I love rgb, and if you guys have a suggestion on a case, im willing to buy a new case because I'm currently using a NZXT h500i. Try not to go to expensive, but thanks for the help so much because I always think if I were to buy all these things by my self I would get the wrong size tubing for the fitting or something will go wrong, due to the compatibility.

    Don't forget the RGB

EK made a really nice article on it too: https://www.ekwb.com/blog/aluminium-vs-copper/, recommend the OP reads this too. Basically most standard copper or "nickel" (usually just nickel plated copper) rads and blocks and such are fine together. It's only if you mix them with aluminum it causes trouble, if you go with aluminum you have to stick to all aluminum parts pretty much.

    Corsairs are nickel

From my reading you can mix copper, nickel/nickel plated copper, and silver just fine. Aluminum is the one that freaks out and utterly despises working together with any other metal. EK often has warnings on their own blocks specifically saying not to use them with the aluminum kits.

Thank you for correcting me... ya learn something new every day!
