    "PSU's cant cause freezes"

Come to think of it, could these freezes that happen every blue moon, damage any hardware? I seem to just force restart and im back on my way and dont think it would harm anything else but im not 100% ?

    "PSU's cant cause freezes"

Thought so.....Well yeah im gonna look at changing my PSU in the near future and hope my issue is resolved. I'm not greatly worried about it at this stage as the worst that can happen is if im in the top 10 of a Fortnite game, i dont win if it freezes on me hahhaah. Thanks again for your help.

    "PSU's cant cause freezes"

Thanks for the info. I notice my build would be happy with 600-650 after viewing hardware monitors and seeing how much power my hardware actually requires. Which makes me think, why are there crazy PSU's with like 1000+W's? Whats the point if all these rigs would happily run off no more than 700?

    I was leaning towards a fully modular ATX 750W Thermaltake 80+ Gold....Thoughts?

Couldnt agree more. It's had its fair run, time for an upgrade anyway i believe. Now to find out what to replace it with that would be just a simple straight swap out. Will gladly take suggestions as im not very familiar......

Thanks all. I guess ill have to start the process of elimination and hope its either the PSU or MOBO.

    "PSU's cant cause freezes"

Hi all, These are reading from HWMonitor after a few hours of running. Do these voltages/power readings looks odd? Or anything else for that matter? Thank you.

    "PSU's cant cause freezes"

Well im not quite sure yet. That'll be my next search. Most likely start a thread to get some guidance from more experienced users as im not sure about the specifics of replacing it.
  9. Thank you. No freeze during GPU test but i will try a longer one. I definitely believe it is PSU or cabling as nothing else shows any signs of faults. Only that 1 PSU error so i believe a good first step would be changing the PSU and cabling. Not 100% though, thats the thing with this kinda issue.

Thank you all. I will try a new PSU and hope for the best.

    "PSU's cant cause freezes"

Thank you both greatly. As i have mentioned i have done many, many tests to eliminate both hardware and software faults, and have only been able to identify that one PSU error. A bit stuck at this point and may have to replace the PSU as i have no other ideas. Hopefully it resolves the issue.

    "PSU's cant cause freezes"

Thank you both very much, super informative. The reason i ask is because i randomly have my PC completely freeze on me forcing me to force restart (no matter how long i wait for it), sometimes with a high pitched noise (once or twice), usually when playing games but has happened when doing simple web browsing or document work. I have run every hardware test possible, reinstalled windows on a brand new SSD, drivers all up to date etc. To only find one thing....OCCT application advising 1 error during a PSU test (https://imgur.com/a/otkfcdV) Although, OCCT doesnt advise what the error is........ So maybe im thinking this is where my problem lies? Perhaps a new PSU will eliminate my issue? I have been struggling to identify (over the last 2 years), where my problem lies? My build:CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHzMOBO - ASUS Z170 Pro GamingRAM - G Skill RipJaws V 16GB DDR4GPU - MSI 980Ti Sea Hawk EditionPSU - Seasonic 850W 80PlusBronze ATXCooling:CPU - Corsair H80i GTGPU - Corsair HG10 N980
  13. Hi all, I was told "PSU's cant cause freezes". Basically advised a PSU either works or doesnt work, nothing in between. If the PC fires up and runs, PSU is fine. If it doesnt start at all, PSU is gone. Nothing in between that. Im not sure what to think of that? Whether this is true or not? Can a PSU really cause freezing randomly on the odd occasion if it has some fault? Or not? Interested to hear what people think & their views on this.
  14. Wow! You have put some time and effort into that, very much appreciated. Just to clear up about GPU usage, i have run many tests with GPU @ 100% on OCCT and other GPU tests but didn't post results because nothing showed up (should have mentioned that) so im pretty sure it isnt the GPU. The only piece of hardware that is showing any error or any signs of a problem is that error from the PSU test which now makes me think it is the PSU. FYI i have tested all components that i can except MOBO because i dont think its possible. BUT on another forum (Tom's hardware), a user advised that "PSU's cant cause freezes" which has thrown me off and in my head, taken me back to square 1. He basically advised a PSU either works or doesnt work, nothing in between. If the PC fires up and runs, PSU is fine. If it doesnt start at all, PSU is gone. Nothing in between that. Im not sure what to think of that and now im not sure what to do? Thanks again for your time and help with this.

Suspected PSU fault - OCCT error

Interesting. Thanks for your input. Now im back atr square 1 if thats true.... I've tried 2 SSd's with fresh installs of windows 10 All drivers up to date Stress tested all hardware (except MOBO because how would i even do that) Not sure what else now......
