  1. I also wanted to ask about other GPU options such as - RTX 2060 - GTX 1650/1600 Super - RX580 - RX5600xt Now granted, all if these GPUs slam dunk the 1050 2GB but could someone help me power scale these GPUs so I know where each of them is on a performance standpoint
  2. Not easily available and I'd prefer to test the GPU on the spot. Shouldnt be too much of an issue, Shopee has an escrow payment system so I can get my money back if anything goes wrong I agree I wouldn't say dead, more like dormant. Yeah it's not getting any new boards or anything of the like, but it's still a viable platform if you're coming from a much older platform with a tight budget.
  3. Ya, the 105 is for the GPU strictly, he plans on upgrading the rest of the build over time. Hmmm, I'll try and keep an eye out for whichever is in budget, thanks for the tip
  4. Im helping a cousin of mine overseas to upgrade his PC and i could use some help regarding GPU reccomendations as his current build is quite old. Budget: MYR 500 (roughly a $USD 105 at time of post) Current Build: CPU: Intel Core i5 4440 GPU: GTX 1050 2GB RAM: 18GB ddr3 1333mhz (4GB-4GB-2GB-8GB) MOBO: Intel c226 motherboard Storage: 128ssd (most prolly upgrading it to 256) 500gb HDD Case: HP Z230 (will be changing soon) PSU: 450-500w Notes: He plans on upgrading to either 11th Gen intel i5/i7 or a Ryzen 5 1600 in the near future Im buying the GPU in Malaysia so it would be helpful if i get some reccomendations according to the specific market here. He plans on using it mostly for gaming I'm advising him to to go with AMD since his upgrade path on the AM4 platform would be more easier. Any help is much appreciated.
  5. Huh, that actually makes more sense now I think about it. Ahhh, that explains why I had so much issues with teams and not getting notifications
  6. Summary The built in Microsoft Teams app in Windows 11 will now support work/school accounts, you will not need to have 2 different Teams apps anymore. Quotes My thoughts Out of all the things wrong with Win11 when it came out, the Teams app was probably my biggest gripe. For the simple reason being that there was absolutely no F***ING reason why the built in teams couldn't do work/school accounts. To top it off, it took 3 years to make a simple quality of life improvement like this. Sources XDA-Dev Article
  7. Uhhh that looks a little bit more complicated than what I'm used to, if I had to guess using MediaMTX would require a server or some kind of intermediary device that hand shakes between the camera and a screen. It's more work than is worth it, I think I'll just a junk HDMI stick device and put VLC on it. Thanks for the tech tip, might come in handy in the future
  8. What about those HDMI stick PCs or android TV sticks? If all I'm doing is having VLC play a stream then finding those in a bargain should do just fine right?
  9. I have a junky smart TV I got for free, Im not really sure what OS its running, I don't think it's Android but it has YouTube and a basic ass web browser. It's a Sharp Aquos. I want to use this TV to view my Tapo camera that I have setup at the door, so that I don't have to open the app every time. Plus, it's helpful for family members in the house , who aren't tech savvy, can still easily see who's at the door without opening it. but the issue as Ive found is that RTSP streams cant be directly views in the browser. I know VLC can play it but I don't think the TV can download applications? Is it possible to repackage the RTSP stream or convert it into a different format such that it can be viewed in-browser or maybe somehow setup a privat-ed stream on YouTube which can then be viewed on the TV? any help is greatly appreciated
  10. I have a TP Link C211 camera looking at my front door and I've linked it to my Google Home account on the Nest Hub. But I only get Voice notifications, when I first set it up, the first few times it was also showing the clip of the motion at the door and what not. Now it just says there's motion at the front door but I have to tell it go to the camera screen to see it. I can't leave it running 24/7 on the camera screen because after a while it goes back to home screen. Any advice is greatly appreciated
  11. Budget (including currency): <RM2500 Country: Malaysia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: GTAV, R6S, CS:GO 2, Roblox, Minecraft and other mostly e-sports titles with the odd single player games, like maybe the 2 Jedi games and No Man's Sky. Moderate-Heavy gaming with some office doc work and occasionally light content creation. Filmora/Capcut. Current Build: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): The only things being reused are the peripherals and Display which is 1080p but is as described. I plan to buy within 6 months time. 1080p 144hz 60+FPS on high settings I plan on expanding to a dual monitor setup, perhaps triple in the far future. My build is damn near perfect for me as it is, but the issues I have mostly have to do with stability, specifically the GPU. I'll try and fix it but in the meantime I have already listed it for sale in the hopes I can start again afresh. That is if I haven't gotten it fixed by the time I get offers. Not to mention I mostly just adopted someone's else PC on FBMP and upgraded it, so I'd like to experience actually building a PC from scratch. As far as preferences for components, things like DLSS and other software sorcery on NVIDIA's side, maybe I'm more biased to them? Idk Ideally, I'd want an APU or some iGPU equipped CPU cuz my whole GPU shenanigans has left a bad taste in my mouth and if I can't get a GPU the same time as all my other components, at least the pc will be usable for basic tasks until then.
  12. This^ THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, I KNEW THIS WAS A THING, I just didn't know the keywords to search for it. Thank you so much for the tech tip you absolutely wonderful parrot/human
  13. See here's the thing, I just recently moved into the new house so I have to setup the security system from scratch and this time they want the screen. The old house, I got this off brand Xiaomi camera called Yi IoT, and the app was simply put, dogshit. This was my first foray into smart cameras and so the salesperson got me good. Because of this my parents got a bad impression of the app experience hence their insisting on a live view screen. After helping a friend setup a Tapo camera in his place I noticed the app was smoother, had more features and the cameras even worked better. I do remember that a moderator on the r/tplink forums said that the Tapo Cameras have underlying open source protocols which may or may not be compatible with 3rd party solutions for live view
  14. As the techie in the family I've been put in charge of home security. Which is difficult cuz it's not a field that I'm familiar with. I live in an apartment so 1 smart camera covering the door is enough. The camera I bought is a TP-Link Tapo C211. The main issue, I'm having, is how to connect this camera to a display so that anyone inside the apartment has a screen with a 24/7 view of the door without needing to open an app. Having asked around the store I bought it from and some other stores it seems like there's only 2 official ways. 1. To connect to a Google Nest Hub Max or any smart assistant with a built in screen. 2. With an NVR/video recorder box. This one seems straightforward but when I asked the salesperson if I can use 3rd party NVRs. He implied no, I had to use TP-Link's own line of NVRs, which seems to either only work or work best with TP-Link's VIGI cameras as they have PoE. The problem is that the cheapest NVR costs RM349 (USD75),then have to get storage for the NVR which uses surveillance drives so that's another RM250 (USD53) for a 2TB. This is all before factoring in a display, granted I know of some functioning monitors just gathering dust in the store room of the family office that I can re-use. But still, it doesn't change that just to install 1 camera, I have to spend RM600 (USD130) just so I can have a screen with a live view. There has to be a better solution for this, I know there is. I have a smart TV in the house that has a web browser, not sure if that can somehow help? In any case, any advice and tech tips is very much appreciated
  15. @mariushm This is my progress so far, everything works but I, for the life of me, can't tell wtf my BIOS version is or if it even tallies up with the techpowerup database This is the version of the AMD Firmware Tool that i used, version 3.31 Ran CMD as admin and located the driver installer in the temp folder I made Successfully installed the drivers by pressing "i" Proceeded to locate and execute amdvbflash.exe this popped up immediately after executing that command Now the MAIN issue is that i can't make heads or tails of this ^^^popup^^^. More specifically, even though i can see the "Current VBIOS" and its contents, i can't understand what I'm looking at hence why I can't tell if it tallies up with the techpowerup database model of my GPU I tried to get some help from BingBoiChat but it didn't help much Out of curiosity i also decided to use GPU-Z, to see if that would have different results and i came across this Now to be fair, The "Microsoft Display adapter" leads me to believe that it might not be the GPU's actual Bios and maybe the version of the component that handles display i/o. Not to mention, I've heard from many a GPU horror story that the Z-utilities can be lied to by modifying what the firmware identifies itself as So I'm taking this GPU-Z result with a grain of salt. BUT, I can't ignore the fact that A) this shit I can understand...something B) I (idiot that I am) can tell the numbers of the BIOS versions match with the techpowerup GPU database So now I'm at a crossroads of what source of information to trust and what to do from here. I still very much want to flash the stock BIOS regardless, mainly for the experience and knowledge. and the very tiney hope that it might just fix this stupid 0-RPM glitch
  16. im very confused as to how or even if my download of the AMD Firmware utility is even working. the CMD is not giving me any respojnses, i made sure to download the drivers first So now im not sure as to what im doing wrong
  17. From the conversation I had with the previous user that I bought this GPU from, he didn't seem that tech-savvy. He didn't even know about AMD adrenaline or the fact that 0-RPM was even a possibility on GPUs. this may be a 3rd or maybe even 4th hand GPU and maybe one of those owners was the miner/played around with the BIOS in any case thanks for the tech tip, I will now proceed to do the checksum and the BIOS flash and I pray to Tech-Jesus that I don't f*ck anything up.
  18. So i should re-flash the stock bios in the hopes that it irons out whatever this kink in my GPU is?
  19. if you mean AMD's Adrenaline software, been there done that. i already have the software installed but i don't know if the driver i have is the latest one or not Additionally, unlike Windows Update, I can't check to see if there even is a new driver available. hence why I'm looking for an alternative solution
  20. I bought my XFX RX580 2nd hand a few months ago and for a steal of a price. It turns out that what the seller had thought were faulty fans was just the GPU set to 0-RPM mode. so with AMD Adrenaline software I turned off 0-RPM mode and went about my day enjoying my new GPU Fast forward a couple of weeks and I realize that 0-RPM will self-enable itself, every time I turn on the PC. Its not too much of a chore for me to turn it off but it gets bothersome and sometimes my little siblings game crashes and they blame the fact i didnt get a brand new pre-built Im not sure if this 0-RPM bug is baked into a custom BIOS onto the GPU or what but any help fixing this issue will be much appreciated
  21. This is my GPU and driver version as is, I'm trying to find what the latest driver is and if I need to update to the latest version. i have been having some stability issues with my GPU hence why i want to troubleshoot the drivers first to see if it has any effect any help is much appreciated
  22. I have a Gigabyte B550M DS3h (non AC) which has a BIOS from 2020. I have tried using Q-Flash which is the native BIOS flashing tool to update to the latest BIOS from Gigabyte's website But it keeps saying there's some kind of error and it can't read
  23. Ah yes, I've downloaded AMD adrenaline, does that auto download the drivers or do I have to manually download them somehow? Also what's DDU?
  24. Hmmm, I might have to Another problem has cropped up, the GPU tends to blackout and lose display signal and the fans go crazy. So far this has happened twice while playing some kind of game. Be it Roblox or Rainbow 6 Siege. I'm thinking it might have to do with thermal paste so I'm going to try cracking it open and see what going on down there
  25. WhatsApp Video 2023-06-03 at 02.53.04.mp4 Update: Hvaing downloaded AMD Adrenalin, turns out the GPU was set to 0RPM mode Switched it off and set it to run the fans and its working fine now will need to check on other things like the thermal paste situation and maybe a clean up still have no idea what this 90s filter screenthing is
