  1. Does nothing sadly, also i forgot to add some details in the main post so when i edit those might help understand a bit more
  2. Basically i got a new headset with a new mic, which sounds good. The only issue i have is that it sounds terrible on my desktop. If i use the audio jack, it has some weird autogain shit that i described here: Then i did try to use my laptop because i knew i had some problems with onboard audio before, and when i did it sounded way better on my laptop, without the issue too. I did have a usb sound card but that sounded like garbage (on my desktop), but i didn't try it cuz i thought it was the usb and not my pc somehow, so i decided to purchase a new one, which sounds the same. Then i tried putting the sound card in my 7yo laptop and magically it sounds like its suppose to do, with a bit of background noise but it sounds the way it should at least. Pls help its so annoying not to have a working mic anymore EDIT: I forgot to add that when i put the usb sound card in my desktop I get way less options in the properties tab of the mic compared to what i get on my laptop. I can't "boost" the mic sound, the mic doesn't give any jack information (even if its usb thingy it does on my laptop), and on my desktop i get a AGD option which i don't on my laptop
  3. Yeah I also thought that maybe its the noise cancelling software that thinks that the my voice is "noise" and reduces it normally. (To hear basically anything I have mic at 100 plus 20dB boost on windows). Guess the mic might be a bit defective and picks up at a very low volume. I'll probably get a replacement, thanks for helping out
  4. If you need any further detail on my hardware situation or anything else ask ahead
  5. So I got myself a nice new headset for xmas, the sennheiser gsp 300. Works wonderfully but I seem to have an issue with the mic that i didn't have on my previous headset. So basically when I talk normally the sound volume is ok, maybe a bit low, but if i increase the volume of my voice or "scream" then the mic jumps up by like 20dB (it feels like it i don't actually know) automatically and its just unpleasant to hear. The issue can be heard by turning listen to device in windows settings so i doubt its an external program doing it Now i did disable "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in windows and it didn't do anything. Maybe its another setting in windows, i hope its not the mic but i can just ask for a replacement if needed.
  6. Ok sorry for the delayed reply but I live in EU. So I did already try to install all the drivers that the manufacturer offers, and again on restart nothing was installed. During the night I updated windows but nothing got fixed again; so i decided to reset my pc, again without any success. I did inform myself a bit more though and apparently the High Definition Audio Controller should be under Sound, video and game controller, which it currently is not. I'm currently downloading ubuntu (my internet is very slow) to try and troubleshoot with that because there is a possibility, even if remote, that the audio chip failed.
  7. I own a Gigabyte GA-Z270XP-SLI So today I was playing when suddenly my pc crashed and I had to restart. The problem is that after my restart my headset stopped working, I notice that I didn't have the option to select Realtek audio on the playback device list (I can only select my monitor which has audio via displayport). I tried going to device manager and look for the drivers to update/reinstall them, but they weren't there. I looked for realtek audio manager in control panel as well and didn't find anything. The only thing that in the device manager under System Devices there is a "High Definition Audio Controller" (there's 2, one without issues) that has error code 10. So apparently I should reinstall the drivers, and after looking for the drivers on gigabyte's site and installing them, after restart nothing had happened though. Now i'm getting pretty desperate as well because I've read on other forums that this might be a hardware issue that would require repair/getting a new board. If my explanation wasn't clear enough I found a forum thread from a few years ago that explains my issue (maybe better?) https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/problems-with-realtek-audio-drivers-suspected-motherboard-issue.3296879/#post-20173891 Thanks for the help :D
