  1. Definitely listen to this guy!!! He helped me wih 2 builds and mine was the 9600k. I could not be more happy with it. It's smooth and the build runs everything I throw at it easily. I can also verify that it does beat my friend's build with an 8700 and the same graphics card, but why anyone would think otherwise to begin with seems odd to me. The 9600K can go to 5ghz and the 8700 is stuck at 4.3 or something like that
  2. How are we overspending? The 3800x is $400 and the 9900K is $475. The X570 boards are a minimum of $200 but we'd probably not get the lowest board on the list, and the board we want for the 9900K is $150. We're getting an AIO cooler regardless of what we choose. So the price is equal.
  3. Damn ok then. We were going to try and find an R0 stepping but it sounds like there's no reason to worry. Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and mark this answer as best. As for our choice, we're going to stick with it. He doesn't care about the power draw or what cooler he needs, he just wants whatever chip will throw up the best performance.I agree that independent results would be best, but their own slides are showing an overall loss, so it's not even like they're claiming to be better to begin with.
  4. No, he has a 1080 165Hz monitor. Yes, many of those FPS bars are over 200, but if the Intel chip has the advantage there then it will have the advantage in games that only get 100-165 now and in the future. But again, please stay on topic. Our choice has been made already.
  5. Has it actually released though? And do you know the differences?
  6. All he cared about was that the blue bars were taller in 4 games and that the orange bars were taller in only 3 games and that 1 game had the bars at the same tallness. I'm sure the power draw doesn't matter to him. Also if the AMD chip was at 4.4 and the Intel was at 3.7, doesn't that make the Intel chip even better? I'm not sure I follow your logic.
  7. Heya. I'm helping my brother build his dream PC since I just finished building my own. He wants a 9900K and we're trying to make heads or tails out of if the 9900K R0 stepping is out yet? It was supposed to have been released in mid-May. Has anyone gotten an R0 stepping who has bought one recently? Also does anyone know the differences? Does it OC a little better? Is it cooler than P0? Does it just fix Zombieload and other MDS attacks? Thanks for the help.
  8. Yay! I'll go ahead and mark this answer as the solution since I basically used your build and just changed the ram and cooler. and the tower because I was forced to. Daniel and Brob, thank you too. The 9600K over the kf was a good call I think.
  9. OK, I decided to go for the 9600K. The $10 is worth the peace of mind I guess. I think I'll stick with my cooler choice, though. I just don't trust liquid.I wouldn't upgrade the cpu. By the time I'm ready for a new one I'd get whatever the latest and greatest is with a new motherboard. I don't usually upgrade anything for several years. Usually 3-5 I guess. Final build? 10. What do you mean about troubleshooting? I looked up Quick Sync and it seems it really only helps for rendering. That's something I'd definitely never do. This is just a gamingbuild. The 9600kf is $10 cheaper, so unless there's a performance difference I'd like to save that $10. The cooler looks cool, but I've heard bad things about liquid coolers that they can leak and kill other parts. Is this a risk?
  11. What about this build? Skill for peace of mind since I've dealt with their customer support before. I also changed the cooler to the Hyper 212 from Cooler Master. It's a brand I trust. The site flagged the tower as incompatible with the 212, though, so I had to change the tower to the 270R. Is all of this okay? It even came out a bit cheaper at $1300 even.
  12. I agree with this line of thinking so I'd say this is on the right track for what I'm wanting.
  13. I appreciate the efforts, though.
  14. How does the 8700 perform compared to the 9600? VII compared to 2080?
