  1. Thanks, yeah that's what I thought was the case. Literally they'd need to be a government official from the NSA with the ability to crack SSL/TLS encryption, like what Edward Snowden leaked about. So basically yeah, next to impossible. Cheers for the help.
  2. It's funny how determined you are to assure me that it is not a hacker, I'm just asking you to speculate, I don't need help, I need to explain to someone that it is not possible and IT IS delays I need to be able to tell them the only way is if the hacker had access to something which they couldn't possibly have access to. Here's my speculation: There's three ways, either the hacker would need access to the mobile network, the outlook mail server or the receiving mail server, correct? That wouldn't be possible unless they were some government official, or the best hacker in the world.
  3. Yeah I literally just edited it as you commented saying don't comment saying something like that. Assume it is none of those reasons, it is not a delay, it's a hacker doing it, what would they need to do? What would they need access to?
  4. Hi, thanks for taking the time to help me out. Something very odd is happening, I'm not going into details, all I will say is that it is as though a hacker has control over my email. If someone wanted to prevent an email from arriving on time, how would they do it? Let's say it was an microsoft outlook.com account, being sent from the mail app (iPhone mail app, NOT microsofts mail app) on an iPhone using mobile data. Stay focused please, I don't want to hear anyone saying "Oh why would anyone be doing that", "why would they want to do that", the scenario is a hacker wants to delay an email, how do they do it? I'm not asking for a step by step guide, I just want to know how it wouldve been done, I'm well aware of backlog and other things that can cause delays, imagine in this scenario it is none of those reasons. I'll have to keep posting this on a bunch of forums, since it's probably something not many people would know about.
  5. No it's not, unless Microsoft have their own version which is used if HPs version isn't. Thanks for the idea, but I'll just upgrade to an SSD, it's an upgrade I was planning on anyway.
  6. Boy do I feel stupid! I would rather keep an open mind than completely ignored it. Turns out it was the shaking which was causing the music to stop, it wasn't the rocking, it was the bouncing up and down as I walked. Purely stupidity, I should have tested further rather than just rocking it backwards and forwards. *facepalm*
  7. XD I may be paranoid, but rather open-minded than delusional. I don't understand why they would want to know where it goes, I have a few ideas but I can't say for sure... It could be so they can find it incase I claim it went missing, it could be so I don't try something like putting the laptop inside a washing dryer for example (run an extension lead from within and connect the washing dryer and laptop to the extension cord inside, so it appears to be an ordinary washing dryer), or maybe to see if I take the laptop to a discrete location and run another operating system on it from a seperate device. Either way, if shaking the laptop doesn't cause the problem to occur then somehow my laptop knows when it's moving, and I will find out.
  8. Ok so 2 of you have said about that it could be the hard-drive being shaken about, I've already said that I simulated walking (I walk with it next to my side, not inside a case, and I don't swing my arms that much like some people), I will however put the theory to the test and violently shake it whilst standing still because perhaps the simuation I performed was not good enough. 2 of you have said that a GPS tracker would stick out like a sore thumb due to it's size... However I believe you have just googled "GPS tracker" and seen the ones available to buy online, you would assume in this day and age they would be able to create one the size of a pea, if you take a look at the ones online they are a quarter of the size of most phones... Take a look at this one: https://www.acalbfi.com/se/articles/articlesContentPage/OriginGPS-launch-world-s-smallest-GPS-module/NA-000539 "OriginGPS have launched the Nano Spider (ORG4400), a fully integrated, highly sensitive GPS receiver module. Measuring only 4.1 x 4.1 x 2.1mm and with minimal power consumption, the Nano Spider is an ideal match for smart watches, wearable devices, trackers, and digital cameras. A double-sided circuit design reduces footprint size and makes the Nano Spider 47% smaller than previous solutions." As for the music stopping, I have an idea... Perhaps the GPS tracker is attached to the speakers, they most likely picked the speakers because they assumed I wouldn't walk and play music, I'm no expert at this kind of thing so I can't say for sure... One thing I can't figure out is how to stop it from happening, if it were just a Windows problem... The speakers would be ideal as hardly anyone plays music on their laptop whilst walking... Could they be using the speakers to emitt a high frequency tone, I've heard before that they can essentially turn speakers into a microphone, and also can be used to locate, I'm just speculating. I will try shaking and rocking the laptop as much as possible to test the theory that it's just the hard-drive, if that doesn't cause it to happen then I'm opening the laptop and going to try to find it. I'll post back my results. Edit: If it does turn out to be the hard-drive, they should add this to the list of reasons to upgrade to an SSD.
  9. Hi Hoping you guys can help me figure this out... I believe my laptop has a hidden GPS tracker, possibly put there by the police (I've been involved in some stuff before so it wouldn't surprise me if they had done this), let me explain and you'll understand why I'm suspicous. The first sign was noticing that my music would stop playing when walking with my laptop, at first I thought it was because the lid was closed, but then I performed some tests, I noticed that the music would continue to play if the laptop was not moving and parallel to the ground with the lid closed, so this made me think that either it was perhaps having the laptop on its side or the movement was causing the hard-drive to mess up... It wasn't. I then tried playing the music with the lid closed and the laptop parallel to the ground, making sure not to shake the laptop at all, started walking and 30 seconds later as always the music would stop... (it's always 30 seconds later) thought ah ok, it's because I'm rocking the laptop forwards and backwards as I walk, so I stood still, shut the lid, played the music and simulated the motion of walking... Music continued to play... This is the part where I started to become suspicous, because I thought to myself how on earth does my laptop know that I'm moving around? It doesn't have a WWAN module installed, I've checked inside and seen for myself that it's not there, my laptop also wasn't connected to WiFi... Opened Maps and tried finding my current location but it was unable to find me, so it doesn't have GPS capabilites that I'm unaware of. I cannot find a single explanation for this, nor do I understand why the music would stop playing anyway, if a genius could come along and explain it all for me I'd appreciate it, I feel like I'm being stupid and missing something... Obviously I will verify that what you're saying is correct since you could be the police trying to trick me into ignoring it XD I'm a bit paranoid I will get to the bottom of this, even if it means taking apart the laptop to find the tracker... If there is no logical explanation for this and it does suggest a hidden GPS tracker I would appreciate any help I can get to locate it. Also I haven't made any mistakes during testing, I've verified that the lid was shut, and done the tests multiple times, oh and I tried 3 different media players, also I forgot to mention that the music would start playing again if I stopped walking and would stop again after walking. P.S. Please don't ask about why the police would want to do that, thank you Cheers for the help! Model no. HP Elitebook 8460p Windows 10
  10. Thanks for your reply. It doesn't have an OLED screen, it's an LED-backlit screen. I think I will just give it a go and see if it is a loose cable. I noticed that if I pressed the back of the screen then the image retention disappeared, so it does appear to be entirely down to the gamma issue, which I'm still uncertain could be caused by a loose cable and not an old/damaged screen, guess I'll find out
  11. Hi :) First off thanks for taking the time to help me. I'm trying to figure out if I should order a new screen or if I just need to check the lcd cable. The first issue I noticed was the gamma, the screen wasn't as bright despite being on 100% and the colours weren't as vibrant and were darker, I noticed though that if I pressed the back of the lid (mainly on the right side) the problem went away, the more I press the more it goes back to normal, if I press too hard this makes the gamma go higher than it should be, this is what has made me think that it might be a loose lcd cable... If you lower the gamma on your screen by 10/20% it'll look exactly like mine... Also if the screen wobbles ever so slightly it causes the same change, which makes the colours look like they're flickering between bright/dark. A new problem has arised where the image on the screen is being retained if the image is on the screen for a while, however I did notice that this started after I was leaving the laptop on 24/7 for a whole month (I know you're not supposed to do this but I had another issue with the laptop where I couldn't let it turn off), I did have the laptop screen closed for a majority of the time, also the laptop has switched off from overheating a few times because I accidentally blocked the fan, so there are a few things that could have damaged the screen which aren't related to the gamma/cable... However I'm speculating that perhaps the image retinition is only showing because the gamma is messed up. I hope I've explained the issue well enough.
