Thriliya got a reaction from sythee in No display until force restart AMD RX580
Sorry. Forgot to make an update. Those spikes were a bug due to the Adrenalin Software from AMD. Uninstalled Adrenalin and installed GPU Driver only. Didn't see those periodical spike anymore. Related issue: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/gpu-clocks-spikes-when-idle.302852/

Update on the main issue as of 21st August 2023

I haven't noticed this booting issue since posting this thread as of yet.

    Changes I've made since:

Reset GPU undervolting profile and uninstalled MSI Afterburner. Removed AMD Adrenalin Software (using DDU) & installed in Driver Only mode. Updated my monitor driver (tho I suspect it was up to date already) Reset and Updated BIOS to the latest version.

    Update
The issue hasn't happened till now since posting this thread. (cold booted 3 times after shut down since then)

What I did since posting this thread:
Updated adrenalin software (gpu driver) after using DDU.  Completely got rid of MSI Afterburner (didn't uninstall tho). Updated my monitor driver (tho the version was from 2021)

I can only help you about this, I had the same problem, although it was when the monitor was off, but the pc itself was on, the gpu randomly put the fans on 100% for a couple of seconds, then calms down. What I did to fix this was update my monitors drivers (which were 10 years old). I know this will probably not help you, but keep me updated

I've set all the LAN devices to static. And it seems to fix the issue temporarily at least for now.

Will go okay for about 12 hours and then the issue will appear with the respective IP.

Seems like the only option I have. 😞
Their after sale service is the worst

    Thanks again for the help

It really depends on what type of are you doing, for example:
Android Dev: There are many technologies like Intel HAXM which give it a slight edge in running android vms for test,  and possibly with the future hybrid architecture it would only get better. But there are already existing AMD implementations for the same stuff so there isint gonna be a huge difference.
Web Dev: Those guys can use potatoes and will be just fine doesn't matter (don't @ me).
AI/data : Many cores may come in use depending on time the type of framework you are using but you would be dumb to not run the load on a GPU(unless you don't have 1).
Game dev: Very difficult to be exact in this case since its really gonna come down to the engine/language/tools etc you are using, you may use blender for assets and models etc so may want a higher core count cpu to boost render times (then again it can also be done on the GPU).
Programming might be considered a heavy task but it really isn't till you are compiling kernels every other day(which u probably wont be doing anytime soon).
I would rather consider other aspects like price or performance in specific scenarios or certain framework support.

There are no downsides to having a ryzen based system for development. The single core performance is spicy and the multicore performance is fantastic.

My current dev machine is a 5900x and it crushes through everything I throw at it.

Since I am too a programmer (soon to be indie game developer), i did a bit of reasearch myself, and the improvements in ryzen 5000 are so significant, amd has become the better option now. It has better single core and multicore, I'd get a 5600x or 5800x based on your multicore needs.

    A forum app
Due to limited resources available, and the functional mobile site, there are no plans to develop an app for the site at this time. Allow members to delete or lock their own posts
If you would like something to be removed, please report it, and it will be removed by a moderator. However, a significant number of the deletion requests that we get are because the topic is solved, which is not a valid reason for deletion - by leaving the topic, it can help other people in the future. Dislike/disagree button
If you disagree with a post, you should quote it and explain why you feel the post is incorrect, so that people can see both sides of the argument, and make their own decision, rather than simply seeing that someone doesn't think the post is correct without any context. Require all posts from new users to be manually approved by a moderator/block all non-latin characters/don't allow links in new members' posts (to prevent spam)
There are far too many posts for manual approval to be remotely feasible, and the other suggestions would adversely affect legitimate content too. We have a number of spam filtering systems in place, so the vast majority of the spam is caught before it is posted. View/edit the BBCode for a post
Posts don't use BBCode internally any more, so adding support for it would be very complicated, and would cause more problems than it would solve. Add a "use desktop site" button on mobile
Due to the way the mobile version has been implemented, it isn't technically possible. However, if there is anything that you can't do on the mobile site, please let us know so that we can try to change it, so you don't need to use the desktop version. New topics discussing these issues will be locked without warning.

Good luck with this one. I wouldn't hold my breath.

The Archer C24 is a AC750 class wireless router in TP-Link's budget line. It's unlikely to get fixed with an update. They'll most likely recommend that you buy another router as a "fix".

Thriliya reacted to Electronics Wizardy in How can I reset a windows 7 PC with a domain?
Just do a fresh install from a usb or dvd installer?

You probably shouldn't be running windows 7 these days anyways, get a copy of windows 10 on there if you want windows.

You don't want to reuse the install on there. You don't know what software it has, and what data its sending back or what they control on the system.

Thriliya reacted to TetraSky in In need of an upgrade without knowing the problem.
You built a 9 year old PC, 5 years ago?

If the current performances you get out of it is satisfying to you and it can play the games you want, there isn't really a reason to "upgrade" anything just yet.
But if you do want to upgrade, I'd suggest waiting for the end of the year, when new AMD CPUs are released and new GPUs are also released.
You'll need, at the very least, to change the CPU, motherboard and RAM if you do "upgrade". None of it will be compatible with a newer CPU after all.

Thriliya reacted to boggy77 in In need of an upgrade without knowing the problem.
without knowing your budget, it's hard making a recommendation. your system is pretty balanced, so a significant boost in performance will only come with significant upgrades (selling everything and starting from scratch)
