I7-9700K Usage/Temps in CS:GO
Nickel16 replied to Nickel16's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Oh sorry, totally forgot. I´m running stock settings since i kinda lost out on the silicon lottery. My CPU will only be stable at 5 GHz if i increase the voltage to 1,4V+, which i´m not really comfortable with. -
I7-9700K Usage/Temps in CS:GO
Nickel16 replied to Nickel16's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks for your reply! How are such big fluctuations normal though? Could you elaborate it for me, so i understand? -
Hi guys, i´ve noticed that my i7-9700k is suffering from heavy usage - and therefore also temperature spikes when playing CS:GO. Most of the time the usage is hovering around 25-40% and the temperatures are also fine - sitting between 57-63° C. (I´m using the Noctua NH-D15 cooler). Sometimes the usage spikes up to 80 and sometimes even 95% while the temps are rising up to 82° C. Obviously my CPU-Cooler fans are ramping up heavily if that happens. I´ve noticed that this issue also depends on the map i´m playing. On some maps it happens quite often and on others just from time to time. I should note that i´m not running any background tasks while playing and apart from this CS:GO issue, there are no such problems with the CPU when playing other games i.e.. I did also play around with the Graphic-Settings, but nothing changed. I´m getting around 250-300 FPS depending on the settings. I know that such high framerates do put heavy load on the CPU- but that much is concerning for me. Do you guys have any ideas why this is happening and whether it is normal? If it isn´t - are there ways to fix it? Thanks in advance!

No, there is no fan attached to the vibrating side panel. I have 1x 200mm in the front, 2x 200mm in the top, 1x 120mm in the rear and 1x 120mm in the bottom. There are no fans attached to the sides.

Thanks for your reply! Sounds like a good idea. The problem is, that the noise isn´t always there. Sometimes there isn´t any vibration for hours. And sometimes it´s there the whole time. It also doesn´t seem to depend on the load / fan speed, since i´m getting the problem in idle aswell. I´m a bit worried whether i´ll be able to identify the fan, thats causing the problem that way. But i´ll try.. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply! The 3 new NF-A20 are installed with anti vibration pads already (also without any screws - rubber only). Aside from that i have 1 small 120mm fan at the bottom and one exhaust fan in the back without such thing. Both Noctua fans aswell tho.. Do you really think thats the cause here?

Hi guys, i´ve noticed that my CM ATCS 840 gets noisy from time to time. It seems like the noise is coming from the left side panel vibrating (when i touch it/hold it in place, the noise stops). I´ve made sure that it´s sitting in place properly already. Do you have any suggestions/ideas how i could fix this issue and stop the side panel from vibrating? Other than that i managed to get the case pretty silent with 3 new 200mm Noctua fans, so this vibration stuff is really killing it for me right now.. Thanks in advance!

Looking at buying a new gpu at the end of this year
Nickel16 replied to Zeta_Demon's topic in Graphics Cards
Your best bet would be either RX 5700 or RX 5700 XT depending on how much exactly you´re willing to pay -
Noctua NH-D15 or BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 are my recommendations for good air cooling

Good to know*

Good no know! Thanks mate!

Not neccessarily at the moment but if i go with a 2080ti equivalent in future i would probably push a 550W PSU really hard. Also (as far as i´m informed - correct me if i´m wrong) a PSU with higher Wattage will be cooler, quieter and more efficient, since it doesn´t run under full load at any time, right?
-
Yes, bitfenix is available for me in Germany. Didn´t really hear much about that brand though. Gonna consider it aswell! Thanks
-
Thanks for your recommendation! I´m gonna look into it. Probably gonna go with a bit more wattage tho
-
Yeah thats about right. I´ve spent about 1450€ which is just shy of 1600 US $. I haven´t really looked into this topic thusfar so suggestions/recommendations are verly welcome I should note that noise level is really important to me when choosing pc parts. Maybe you got something for my needs?

@Spotty My new Rig: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro I7-9700k Noctua NH-D15 MSI RTX 2070 Gaming X 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz 500 GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB Corsair Force 510 4 TB Toshiba X300 (4TB) Thanks for your advice! I´m not really looking forward to cable manage everything again but i might actually do it...
-
@Spotty Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately i´m not running the same system anymore. Since this summer i´m with a completely new build (besides PSU and case), which is why i´m concerned about it. As you said, if i was still running my old system from 10 years ago it wouldn´t really matter if components get damaged... So your advice is to replace the PSU aswell now?
-
Hi guys, i´m currently using an almost 10 year old PSU from Seasonic (M12D-750) which i own since the beginning. It is still working just fine but i was wondering whether it could become dangerous to keep running on this PSU (even though everything is working). I´m particularly concerned about other pc parts taking damage from it one day. Thanks in advance!

Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro for i9 9900k?
Nickel16 replied to Nickel16's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
@Streetguru It will be my friends PC.. He will reuse some parts from his previous system. We are living in Germany.. The budget isn´t really the matter here - he´s also quite certain about the i9. The only question is if the Aorus Pro is sufficient for it or if the Aorus Master is needed. (The Pro+Wifi is ~ 200€ and the Aorus Master is ~ 280€)- 4 replies

Hi guys, can you tell me whether or not the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro is sufficient for the i9-9900k in terms of VRM and thermals? - Or do i need to step it up to lets say the Z390 Aorus Master e.g.? Thanks in advance!

@Emmpii I´d go with the Z390 Aorus Master then. Judging by the reviews and test i´ve seen about z390 boards this is a great board in terms of thermals and VRM (especially for the price) If i remember correctly the Maximus XI hero didnt perform so well in these tests. Take a look for yourself on the HardwareUnboxed Video about z390 performance comparison.

@Turtle Rig Ah okay. So i don´t need the exact same size? A smaller fan does fit in there aswell?

Hi guys! I´m on a pretty old case with the Cooler Master ATCS 840 - but i´m generally speaking still satisfied with it. However i´ve been noticing more and more noise coming from the default case fan in the front. Since i´m quite noise sensitive i want to replace the fan. I took a look on noctuas website but they only have up to 20cm case fans. Is this gonna work as a replacement for a 23cm fan? Or do i have to get one with the exact same dimensions? Which case fans can you guys recommend for me? (I´m fine with spending a bit extra for a cool and silent experience) Thanks a lot in advance!
