  1. Hi there, my plan was running Proxmox 7.3-3 with virtualized OPNsense and NIC passthrough. This is my hardware: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 ASRock B450M Pro4 (UEFI P5.70, up to date) 4x16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO schwarz DDR4-3600 DIMM CL18 ADATA SX8200PNP 512GB 1x SanDisk Ultra 3D 2TB 2x SanDisk Plus 2TB 1x Mellanox ConnectX-3 10GbE 1x Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro (HP) 2x10GbE So far I have enabled SVM and SR-IOV. Everytime I try to enable IOMMU the board just power cycles two times and the setting is disabled again. I just read at the ASRock page, that an upgrade beyond UEFI P3.50 is not recommended for Pinnacle Ridge. Maybe that is my problem. Are there any other possible solutions other than an UEFI downgrade? What else could I try? Thank you in advance.
  2. Honestly it went very smooth. I am really satisfied with the build and the performance and stability are exceptional. With only 4 DIMMs it is already running great. I had problems with my GPU W5700 and Windows was just crashing after several minutes or hours, never experienced such a problem and in my brothers rig it is working fine. I had to switch to the RX6600 and now it is running without any problems.
  3. Yeah, I was thinking about that, but I prefer going with Epyc right now.
  4. Well, unfortnuately that is not possible, since it is the first generation x399 platform and only compatible with 2nd gen Threadripper. I cannot get one of that generation for a reasonable amount of money.
  5. Hi there, currently I am planning my first Epyc build. I want to get the Epyc 7443P. Here are the components I have choosen: Supermicro H12SSL-CT 2x I went with 4x now Micron RDIMM 32GB, DDR4-3200, CL22-22-22, reg ECC (MTA18ASF4G72PDZ-3G2E1R) For now I want to go with 2x 32GB modules and get more later. Will this RAM work fine with the motherboard? I am currently not so familiar with server builds. Anyway, I want to have more PCIe lanes, ECC, flexibility and the remote management. It will be a nice addition to my home network, since I have upgraded to 10GbE. I plan to run unRAID or something else. Maybe Windows Server 2022 Datacenter. I have not decided yet. Especially the higher boost frequency is important for me, I want to do some Gaming, too. My usual workload will be: Running VMs, programming, compiling, rendering (Blender), Photoshop, etc... My current hardware: Ryzen Threadripper 1900X AMD Radeon Pro W5700 8GB (will go in the new build) MSI X399 Carbon Gaming AC 8x 16GB (running at 2666 MHz) A couple of M.2 NVMe and S-ATA SSDs (will go in the new build) Seasonic FOCUS GX-850 80+ Gold (will go in the new build) Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 (will go in the new build) Mellanox ConnectX-3 (will go in the new build) Thank you in advance.
  6. I would immideately swap that psu out, because this is really a fire hazard
  7. Regarding bloatware imho the experience is way smoother and better compared to Windows 10.
  8. Guten Tag got my hands on the Windows 11 ISO file and could install it on my workstation without fiddling around and modifying the ISO file. Everything installed just fine and I only ran into minor issues. Was already activated - maybe because I tried it out on that machine with Hyper-V and I was able to activate it with a Windows 7 Pro license. The only minor issues accured during the AMD drivers installation, but after succesful reboot it works 100%. Tried it out on the Surface Go with 128GB and 8GB RAM aswell and there you can install it just fine, too. But ofc, without Secure Boot. I prepared my USB drive with the YUMI UEFI tool. My hardware: 1900X MSI X399 GAMING PRO CARBON AC 4* 16GB DDR4 2666 MHz Samsung 980 1TB Radeon Pro W5700
