  1. Budget: ~1500 CAD Usage: University laptop, going to be doing some programming (app development, R, Matlab), browsing, media consumption etc. May occasionally be used to play games but not a focus since I have a desktop. Being capable of light photo/video editing is a nice plus as well. Screen Size: 13/14 Battery Life: Prefer 6+ hours Not too picky about the screen RAM: 16GB, non-upgradeable is fine.
  2. Trying to decide between the following: https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_1197&item_id=138815 https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_367&item_id=135236 The difference in price isn't a big deal. Mainly trying to figure out if the if the "second screen" on the zenbook is worth the lower build quality compared to the stealth Also, feel free to recommend other laptops in a similar price range (mainly looking for ultrabooks)
  3. Taking your suggestion I did a search and found this as well. Rn the used d5300 cameras are looking comparable or higher than this sale price. I take it I should probably go with this one out of the 3? https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/nikon-d5300-dslr-camera-with-18-55mm-70-300mm-lenses-accessory-kit/13052994.aspx?
  4. I'm looking to buy my first DSLR and take advantage of some boxing week savings. The two "best" deals I can find right now are: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/nikon-d3500-dslr-camera-with-18-55mm-70-300mm-lenses-accessory-kit/13052995.aspx? and https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/canon-eos-rebel-t100-dslr-camera-with-18-55mm-75-300mm-lenses/12948915.aspx? So a few questions: Would spending the extra money for the nikon d3500 be worth it? Will I see a significant difference in quality over the Canon T100? Also, if I'm just starting out, will the the 75-300mm lens be worthwhile or should I be buying a better camera and forego the lens. Feel free to recommend other cameras that you think would be better but I'm trying to avoid going over 650 CAD. Ty in advance
  5. Hey guys, Looking for a new unlocked phone for about 400 CAD. Here's what I'm looking at right now: Huawei P10 Lite https://www.amazon.ca/Huawei-WAS-LX3-Unlocked-Smartphone-Graphite/dp/B06ZYC2YTW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502903363&sr=8-1&keywords=huawei+p10+lite Asus Zenfone 3 https://www.amazon.ca/ASUS-Zenfone3-Unlocked-Smartphone-Android/dp/B01LX929Q8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502903409&sr=1-1&keywords=zenfone+3 Between these two which should I take? Or if you have your own suggestions I'd be glad to hear them Thanks in advance
  6. https://oneplus.net/ca_en/x/specs http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-zenfone3-laser-2g-32g-73-134717.htm?promoid=1714 Currently debating between these two phones, I'd be grateful if you could share any experience you've had with either of them. I'm open to other suggestions as well but would like to stay under $300 CDN Thanks in advance~ ^.^
  7. Hey, So I'm looking for a program that can create an email list and associate that list with just a single address, so that instead of distributing the entire list, I could simply give the over-reaching address. I believe this program does what I'm looking for, but it's linux based and I'm not too sure how it works exactly. http://www.list.org/ If you guys know of any free program that does what I'm looking for, or if you have another suggestion for how I could achieve the same result, I'd greatly appreciate it

  9. Hey guys, My friend's usb got corrupted so a lot of the file paths got screwed up and the drive is now write protected as well. I don't think its possible to recover the files, which is fine, but she'd still like to be able to use the usb. I've tried using diskpart from command prompt and registry edit and neither have removed the write protection so I'm unable to format the drive. If you guys have any solutions I'd be greatly appreciative. Thanks, Danish

Both are the exact same price. Is it worth to sacrifice the extra size for 4k or should I just stick with the bigger 1080p one?
  11. You're right about the CPU GPU and looks but the model of the Zenfone I plan to get has the same screen and 3GB of RAM Thank you for the extensive comparison. I'll probably be getting the Zenfone because it seems good enough for my needs
  12. Currently debating between these two phones. Apparently the OnePlus X doesn't some of the 4G bands but does that really matter if I'm not going to be using data? One Plus x = 320 + 50 dollars shipping = 370 CDN Asus Zenfone 2 Lazer = 270 (no shipping) CDN It's going to be about 100 dollar difference. Is the snapdragon 801 in the X vs the 615 in the zenfone enough to justify the cost
  13. So building a new computer and find it's ridiculous to have to spend $100+ dollars just for windows. Is there any place besides the Microsoft store where I could get a non-pirated version for cheaper? Thanks in advance
  14. This is my first build and its on an $800 budget so I didn't plan on overclocking. If do chose the Gigabyte and decide to overclock, will my cheapass motherboard hold me back? : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h81mp33

I'd prefer to buy the club 3D one because it's a little cheaper and doesn't need a rebate (im on a pretty tight budget) but I haven't really heard of them before. THANKS

  17. Hey, So this is going to be my first build so bear with me. I'd like the system itself to be as close to $800 as possible since I do need to add Windows 8 to that. The system will be used for gaming and school with a single 1080p monitor so that shouldn't be a big issue. I'd prefer if you used parts from the canadian ncix website or canada computers website because those two are the most convenient for me; however if you see an online deal that is too hard to pass up feel free to post it. So i've rounded up a my own parts list below considering there are a quite a few sales on right now. I'm debating between the 960 and 285x and looking to try and shave a few dollars wherever I can while still maintaining performance. Thanks in advance. 18. K that makes sense, i suppose its less work to do it like that. The only problem with that is that i'd like to think that apple stores would be able to give u custum amounts as opposed to retailers seeing as the one i was at couldnt >.>
  19. I was questioning it because i walked into an apple store the other day and literally every single set of cards was 4 * $10 and thought they were preset amounts
  20. Nah lol i dont even own apple products >.> It just somehow baffles me that they keep track of it all with all the different retailers idk mayb im easily impressed
  21. A somewhat random question, but does anybody know whether Itunes giftcards are preloaded by Apple themselves and then just need a simple activation by retailers to be used or do the retailers both load and activate the cards? Just something that's been bugging me lately Thanks in Advance -DaJellyDanish
