  1. Oh I also forgot to say that it is the same power supply i have been using for 2 years! I didn't change that either.
  2. Sure, my motherboard is a Asus M5A78L-M PLUS, my CPU is a AMD FX-8350, my memory is CRUCIAL BALLISTIX SPORT 1600 MHz 8GB DDR3 sticks, I got two of them. I didn't reinstall the OS or do a repair as the before hand I did have a AMD FX-8350 but with a different motherboard it was a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3. And no I didn't properly accomodate the new hardware as the only difference was a motherboard. I haven't tried a new OS install yet or a repair however I am trying both next. Starting with the repair. I will do test this asap and get back to you. Thank you!
  3. So I recently upgraded my desktop basically changing everything except the graphics card & one of my Ram sticks as everyone else was half broken or being upgraded. It was great low temperatures as I water cooled etc. However after a couple days I noticed I'd begin to freeze and have to restart the whole PC. Over a day it got more and more regular, and I diagnosed it as the graphics card was overheating since everything else was below or hitting 50 degrees according to Speccy. However this was peaking up to 70 degrees and it would then freeze. Due to this I took the graphics card apart today and cleaned out three years of dust from it and also reapplied some thermal paste and reinstalled it. It was good for a few hours then I noticed the freezing began to appear again, the graphics card is now hitting averagely 50 degrees. And when the freezing happens its still at 50 degrees. Not sure what I should try next, any ideas?
  4. I would be able to get a photo however it is deep inside the port. I couldn't even see it with a torch. I just know its there as it won't accept a headphone jack anymore. What about a USB headphone jack? Does anyone know if they are any good?
  5. On my desktop for a while now I've had half a aux cable stuck in the motherboard just wondering if theres any way to get it out? It's annoying as been wanting to use headphones recently and can't as I cannot thanks to this.
  6. Okay thank you very much, I assume by just having the laptop on the cmos battery sorts itself? The error stopped coming up so.
  7. I've seen this before but I'm curious whether its a problem or not. I just got another HP Elitebook, and it needs a lot. But one thing I noticed when testing is that when I plugged in the charger it'd turn on before I could hit the power button. Is this unusual or? Not sure if its related but the first time it also said that the CMOS battery got a bad checksum or something. I doubt it is related but could this be related with the screen playing up a bit?
  8. Seems like a funny topic but sticky pads to hold a CMOS battery in place is new to me. I was doing a few upgrades to this laptop and I noticed that there was a rattle, opened it out to find the CMOS battery lose and it appeared to be held in place with a sticky pad. In which was no longer sticky. Just wondering if this is fine? And if it is, is there a specific type of sticky pad I need to replace it with? I wouldn't bother if I was keeping it but giving it to a family member and the rattle might scare them.
