  1. Woah! This really might be the answer I'm looking for. Thank you! Follow up question tho: I'm pretty sure my system is powerful enough to run Gamecube and PS2 games in native res. I see that Recallbox OS uses EmulationStation. Do you know if I can run Gamecube and PS2 emulators on EmulationStation? Does it have a plugins/cores model like RetroArch?
  2. Thanks for the reply man! This is great information and all, but I haven't seen anywhere that you can use a controller to navigate opensuse. Do you know about this? I'm trying to really recreate the home console feel by using just a controller from the couch.
  3. Long story short, I've removed the mobo of an old HP gaming laptop with the following summary specs GTX 650, a 4th gen i7, with 8gb of DDR3 RAM installed and I have a friend 3D printing a custom case for this project as well. The goal is to create a "console" that emulates from arcade games up to GameCube/PS2 in native res AND be able to watch Netflix and Hulu all in a console-sized form factor. Given the specs I know there isn't any issue running Windows and my desired emulators or even RetroArch to achieve this, but what if I'm a lazy fuck who wants to control everything with a single controller/gamepad from my couch? Sure, I could get that midsy Logitech living room AIO keyboard/trackpad shitfest, but bare with me here I want to know if this is doable. I've figured that for controller-based GUI navigation that my best bets are Android TV and Lakka (the RetroArch based Linux distro). Android TV brings to the table: native gamepad support (to my understanding), Hulu and Netflix apps obviously, and a RetroArch app. Of course I begin to wonder about driver support and other things that might prevent this from working as well as I would like. Lakka presents the issue of not having any streaming apps or a built in web browser, but it is Linux based so Chromium is literally always an option.....and now we're back to using a keyboard and anybody that's ever fiddled with gamepad web browsing also knows this is a shit show. All of my games would work great on Lakka and it supports essentially every controller you can connect to a PC anyways, it does however lack that completeness that would justify a full build that sits under my living room TV. Any input? Is there a better OS than either of the two I mentioned? Is there a better way to stream video on Lakka? Do I need to just get a keyboard and get over it? What if I really don't want to? Please leave your advice below and tell me if I've posted in the wrong thread (I'm new here)! Cheers!
