  1. No I don't think so, right now I'm only pulling 375 W from the four cards
  2. I just built my rig. I am new to all of this. This is my parts list: ASUS Prime Z390-P LGA 1151, Intel Core i5-8400, 2xCrucial RAM 16GB DDR4 2666 MHz CL19, 1xSabrent 256GB ROCKET NVMe PCIe M.2 2280, 1xEVGA Supernova 1600 G+, 80+ Gold 1600W PSU and Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler. Everything was put together and booted up on the first try. My CPU has a IGPU, the UHD 630, and that's what I am using to get my display from. I then started to add the GPU's one by one.(each time I added a GPU I turned off the system first) Yes they are on risers. Doing it one by one I was able to get 4xGPU's on risers to work without any trouble, the whole time my display coming from the CPU IGPU. When I go to add the fifth GPU, the screen goes all fuzzy gray except for a couple of slits of proper display where I can see that it has booted up in the bios. If I try to connect my display to one of the GPU's that was connected prior to the fifth one being added I do not get any video. Since the screen goes fuzzy gray when it's connected to the IGPU, I cannot tell why it has loaded into the bios. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time so I did not change any of the bios settings before installing anything and I didn't do anything to Windows either except for the basic things like not needing a password and not going to sleep etc. All of my GPU's are Nvidia and range from a 1070 TI, 20's series and 30's series. Thanks for all the help in advance! Edit: This was solved!
  3. @PwnyTheTiger I have two different types of risers, and it's the exact same thing on both. And the card is showing up, if you look at the photos you will see that in device manager it says the card is working properly. The card is also showing up in MSI afterburner, it just won't let me adjust certain settings like fan speeds and voltage etc. and why should EVGA Precision X not work while this is plugged into a riser? And why not show up in nicehash?
  4. @PwnyTheTiger I should still be able to see temperatures and control fan speeds. Miners wouldn't be using this if they weren't able to see the temperatures or control fan speeds. It's also not showing up in the nicehash mining software. And having no video output when I plug the HDMI in. If you have any experience using any of these then please elaborate some more.
  5. @Vishera As I explained in the post, I am going to build a mining rig. Everyone that builds a mining rig uses GPU risers. I am doing the same thing that thousands of others have done.
  6. I got some GPU risers as me and my caregiver are planning on making a mining rig. While I'm waiting for the rest of the equipment to come in I received the GPU risers. I decided to try it out on my current rig. The GPU is a 2080 super and it works perfectly fine when it's plugged directly in my rig. When I try it plugged into the riser I get some issues. 1. When I open MSI afterburner to adjust the fan speeds, it will not allow me to, along with voltage and shader. 2. EVGA precision X will not open as long as that card is in the riser. I use this also to monitor temps and fan speeds. 3. 2080 Super will not appear in nicehash software. I have a 2080ti directly on the mobo and it shows up. 4. Temps nor fan speeds show up in hardware monitor. 5. HDMI has no output to video when I plug it in. In device manager it shows that it's been installed properly and all drivers are up-to-date. From everything I could find and read on installing GPU risers it's supposed to be pretty straightforward, plug-and-play type of thing. I've tried two different sets of risers, with the exact same issues. I don't want to make the post too long so I will elaborate more to anyone that tries to help me. Thanks a lot guys! As I was waiting for people to reply to me, it somehow fixed itself and the card is now being recognized in MSI afterburner, nicehash etc. Have no idea why you just all of a sudden fixed itself but at least I'm happy to know that my risers aren't broken! Thanks to everyone that helped out.
  7. Hello community! I am brand-new to the PC scene and have just finished my first complete upgrade of my rig. When I started, I had about only high school level knowledge in computers, if that. Since my injury, which left me paralyzed from the neck down, I've had no use of my arms,hands,legs,etc. Total paralysis apart from my head. It's been 7yrs since and I have had to adjust and find new ways to be able to be autonomous. With the help of switches and sip&puff equipment, I've been able to get my "hands" back if only on a screen. Nobody can understand the importance of this until they've lost they're own. Trust me, I know. Thanks to https://www.quadstick.com/ I am able to operate modern game consoles such as Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo and most importantly a keyboard/mouse for a computer. The possibilities are endless! On console I can play +AAA titles and on PC. To setup the Quadstick it requires Windows and a PC. When I first got the Quadstick 3yrs ago, I just bought a cheap $200 https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B078SWRR4K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to be able to setup the controls for console. Now, I've always been a console guy because as a kid we simply couldn't afford one. I never knew how much more you really got from a PC than console. Slowly with time I began to realize just how much value having a PC could add to my life, nevermind how many more games there are! So earlier this year in January, I bought a Alienware 15 R4 laptop for gaming. Not knowing anything about computers, I got one with a i5-8300H, GTX 1060, 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 @ 2666MHz, 256GB PCIe M.2, 1TB 7200RPM HDD, 180W Power Adapter and a 15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) 120Hz TN Display with 5ms response time. Knowing what I know now, I never would of bought it. I mean, an i5 & a 1060 for + $2000? In 2019? I think it's a ripoff. Don't get me wrong, it's a FANTASTIC gaming laptop, it's just that I wanted something that wouldn't be absolute in 2yrs. I would have gladly paid for it if I had known! I personally would have got the Alienware Area51m laptop with full upgradability. Had I known... I ended up buying a Graphics Amplifier & Vega 64. It worked fine but I could tell that the CPU was straining. Once I realized all I could do with the Quadstick on PC, I started to dabble in music with DAW's and 3D design/annimation. I couldn't believe I could do this! My issue, of course, was my CPU&GPU. This is also when I found out laptops were not as easily or at all upgradeable. This killed me! Man I was stunned. This was June. A good friend of mine saw my problem and was awesome enough to take the time and explain to me the basics of CPU/GPU/RAM/S.2/GHZ&MHZ and so on. Now he's no expert but definitely knew x100's more than me and with his info I was able to finally make an informed and respectable first buy of my gaming rig/workstation. Originally was a Alienware Area 51 R7 ThreadRipper with: ThreadRipper 2920X, RTX 2060 6GB VRAM (OC Ready), 16GB DDR4 XMP at 2933MHz Dual Channel HyperX, 128GB Class20 SATA M.2 SSD + 2TB 7200RPM HDD, Alienware 1500 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply with modular cabling [80 Plus Gold] What a machine! Now we were talking! Ultra smooth gaming, fast rendering speeds and just felt great to use. I made sure to buy a upgradeable PC, damn sure. With this I was now able to run better software. Once I started using better software, my CPU usage went up, as well as my RAM and GPU. It was difficult to run +AAA games while running programs in the background. Now I didn't need to upgrade really, could of just not play games and run software at same time. But I had bought the Area51 just for this problem. I could upgrade. So I did. Put in the last piece couple weeks ago, I now have a: 2990wx, 2080TI XC Ultra 11gb, HyperX Predator 3200mhz 4x16gb DDR4 CL-16 DIMM XMP, 128GB Class20 SATA M.2 SSD + 5TB HDD + 2TB SSD. My rig is finished! Unless I can fit a third-party motherboard, there's nothing else I can add. I am so happy with the performance, I wanted to share with you how you could also create an incredible machine. Also thought it would make a good read, so here's to you dear readers! I hope you enjoyed it and if you have any questions about the PC, feel free to message me. Here's also a picture of the Quadstick. Sorry about my spelling, I'm french ? Enjoy! Quadstick Sip&Puff My RAM HyperX Predator 4x16gb DDR4 CL-16 My GPU EVGA 2080TI 11gb XC Ultra My CPU ThreadRipper 2990wx Everything is on amazon. Hope this helps, thanks for reading!
  8. The Razor works fine and yes your doing it right. Just make sure to use the thunderbolt that came with the Core X. Any card will work(as long as it fits your Core X)
  9. The cable that came with the razor core X. Sorry I didn't elaborate on that. I was using a thunderbolt cable that I got from Amazon, I don't remember what for exactly, but it was a long cable instead of the short one that the razor came with. I do know if it's proprietary or if it's because the shorter the cable the more data transfers. I'm not too tech savvy that way. In the end though I would recommend, for ease-of-use is to just use the alien ware amplifier for an alien ware laptop and the razor for whatever other laptop that has a thunderbolt port. I got so frustrated that I upgraded to an Area 51 ThreadRipper. Right now my friend uses my laptop when he comes over so we can game together. I hope this helps you!
  10. Fixed everything! The Razer didn't have the proper Thunderbolt plugged in ( Edited September 18, 2019:I was using a thunderbolt cable that I bought from Amazon for some other thing I don't remember what exactly. But the cable that the razor core came with is a short cable and I don't know if it's proprietary or if because it was so short that more data was able to go through it, but when I put the cable that it came with into it it works perfectly. The reason I hadn't done that in the beginning is because the setup that I had required a longer cable. So I had to change my set up. All in all all of this was becoming a headache so I decided to get an Area 51 ThreadRipper. Right now my friend uses my laptop to game with me.).. Don't know how I mixed them up. Both cards are recognized and work. Now the AGA. ALL I did was uninstall EVERY NVIDIA/AMD driver/programs from my laptop, disconnected the GA from where I had put and repositioned it to a new location, then replugged everything and VOILA! the AGA recognizes BOTH cards! Only once the Razer Core X worked with the R4 and recognized the cards, did the AGA recognize the RTX 2060 & Readeon Vega 64. WHAT A HASSEL! Now: 1. Alienware (DELL) are ABSOLUTE LIARS & FULL OF IT!! For the last 3 days I've been on the phone and all I kept getting told is that ONLY the Alienware Graphics Amplifier would work on my R4 and ONLY these cards; https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln300946/alienware-graphics-amplifier-supported-graphics-card-list?lang=en will work on the R4. As you can see neither cards are listed. I had already purchased my Razer Core X & VEGA 64 for my mac-mini and it works great, but since I was told by DELL only the GA would work with the approved list of cards, I bought the Amplifier. The approved dimensions (as told by the tech support I spoke to; https://imgur.com/4NrBSux & here online; https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-General-Read-Only/AGA-video-card-limits-Length-10-50-quot-Height-4-37-quot/td-p/5555839 ) is L10.5" x H4.37" MAX. Not true. The RTX 2060 is L= between 8-9" x H=between 4.5"-5.0" (can't recall EXACT) but the cover will close (although nothing taller WOULD FIT!) and VEGA 64 L=10.3" x H4.3" 2.My laptop is only 100 days old, should be in top condition. WHY only once the Razer Core X worked did the AGA worked, I DON'T KNOW! All's I did was plug the thunderbolt that came with the Core X (Absolutely necessary for Core X to work, no extensions unless its 40gb/s) and reinstall all NVIDIA & AMD Drivers. 3. After using both EGPU's & RTX 2060 & VEGA 64 and running some quick benchmarks off of Forza 7, I get average fps50 with VEGA 64 & fps30 with the RTX 2060 on the Razer Core X, resolution set to 4k. With the Graphics Amplifier I get average fps58 with VEGA 64 & fps42 with the RTX 2060 resolution set to 4k. So in conclusion after 3-1/5 days of hell both systems work. With both cards. DELL are complete thieves and liars. The drivers that installed for 2060 are; The latest GeForce Game Ready Drivers and the desktop RTX 2060 drivers (DCH) For VEGA 64; Latest version of AMD Software & VEGA 64 drivers. I will upload photo & video proof once im done editing.
  11. DELL said BIOS was up-to date but I might do a complete reboot of OS like it was when I got it. If I can't figure out the Alienware Graphics Amplifier with the RTX 2060 im going to return it and get the RTX 2070. That way if the AGA still doesn't show the card my warranty will cover and I 'll know maybe its laptop or the AGA itself the problem. So what about the Razer Core X? I NEED to know what Linus did!
  12. That's what I keep reading about the AGA. Except no one will post what drivers/method they used for the RTX 2060. Since Alienware doesn't have it on their approved list of cards they won't help me. They know what the fix is but won't tell. Linus mentioned in a video that after disabling some Alienware services it worked. If I can find out what those are I can at least use the Core
  13. This is the 64; PowerColor Radeon RX VEGA 64 DirectX 12 AXRX VEGA 64 8GBHBM2-3DH 8GB 2048-Bit HBM2 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support ATX Video Card Fan Cooled (Black) The 2060; https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07MC23VS4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  14. Sorry didn't see edit. Yes im using a 4k tv but its plugged into the laptop. I 've tried plugging into either 2060 or 64 with both egpu and nothing. im paralyzed so im never out of bed and am always connected to the TV.
  15. Either one. I would prefer the AGA but will settle for either. I am just finshing reinstalling the drivers to try againg. The Core was only showing up underUSB Devices in device manager but not the Vega 64.
  16. In a video Linus mentioned disabling some alienware services. Which one? I also have a Graphics Amp but i've tried both a RTX 2060 AND a Readeon Vega 64. Neither show up in device manager. The core shows up but in USB devices in device manager. So neither the Core or AGA will show my cards. The NVIDIA drivers will download but doesn't show the 2060 and the AMD software says I have no AMD cards. Im lost. Contacted DELL and the won't help since im not using an approved GPU in the AGA, that my warrenty doesn't cover this. IT WAS A DELL WORKER who told me the 2060 WAS approved! Since I already have the Core X I figured i'd use that one. Lots of forums people say they got either the AGA or Core X with either the 2060 or Vega 64 working! But no one has explained HOW! Please someone help. Ryan youtube video of someone using an Alienware Graphics Amp;
