  1. Yeah, I already installed the drivers, no change. tried reinstalling, and restarting a couple of times, and no it doesn't seem to charge over USB. (my laptop is capable of charging over the USB C port but its main charging port is the old barrel sharing port, thought it worth mentioning it)
  2. Hi! Help me figure this out, please... so I had this HP laptop for about 3 years ago: HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15m-ee0023dx, I wanted to add an ethernet connection.. so I found on FB marketplace this dock J5 create Model: JCD543. but no matter what I do, I just can't get it to be recognized by the computer... no USB keyboard/mouse nothing... I see some threads over hp no supporting docking stations or something but my laptop c-port specs are: 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C™ (10 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); also, I already got a USB hub with only USB A ports (I belive 3.0) and it works just fine... at this point... I would rather take the lose and try and resell the dock and buy something else rather than being forced to buy a new laptop... any thoughts? TIA
  3. Well I just connected it to the flat screen (pretty old one, might not even be 4k) And it looks far better and the game is playable. So I guess false alarm, the problem is the CRT, at least for anything newer then Sega Genesis.. At least I got it for free.
  4. So I got a CRT and I hooked up all my retro consoles to it (Sega Genesis, Hyperkin retron 1 hd, Wii, PS2, Atari 2600, Sega dreamcast and Nintendo 64) To my surprise the Nintendo 64 had worse graphics, the picture, especially in game, not as terrible in menus, is so bad it's unplayable, it's hard to explain, and it might be hard to show it in a picture but it's just way too blurry, everything looks like a undefined mash of colors on the screen, I haven't tried all my Nintendo 64 games but in both majora's mask and ocarina of time, it looks terrible. i remember connecting the Nintendo 64 before, to a newer flat screen, that the rest of the HDMI capable consoles plugged to, and it didn't look bad at all and was very much playable.. Any thoughts? TIA
  5. I am only looking for one pair for her. Maybe my title is wrong. I am now confused about what they are called but I'm actually looking for video display galsses nreal air or rokid AR, seems like they are typically $400-500
  6. It is not... But glasses would be easier for longer periods of time since we sit 6-7 hours and might be tiring holding a tablet.. which I know there are solutions for that as well but wires and tubes.. and nurses around her so seems like glasses with one single cord would be best solution.
  7. Hi everyone So cancer has gotten to us. What I need is glasses that will allow my wife to watch while doing chemo. Preferably lite weight but screen quality is top priority. She will mostly going to be watching movies and TV shows. It won't be used for gaming so no need for crazy refresh rate or any AR functionality. $300-400 range maybe? Thanks!!
  8. yea the build does have GPU but he quoted me $400 without the GPU, anyway, i ended up ordering everything off NewEgg, added some warrenty on some of the stuff, ended up paying $512.
  9. i can pick this up locally (used, no GPU) for $400, is it worth it? *Also on the build, is it possible to find a case with no glass panel? i can already see the glass being all over the floor from being kicked*
  10. Yea, but i already got an RX 590, i mean if i find a prebuilt with the specs recommended above (Ryzen 5/7 3600 and up) with a graphics card for that price, sure i'll take it, and sell the RX 590, but i've been looking around trying to figure this out for the past probably two months and i wont be able to get anything remotely close to that, best i could find for like $250-300 was like an i7 7700k with a gtx 1060, not even close in performance.
  11. Budget (including currency): 450 Country: NC, USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft bedrock/Roblox, school learning. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Already got, RX 590 8G.
  12. What about: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166260367991?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_G10T0pqTga&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=QeAukkkjQJK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  13. Sorry to bump an old thread but, now i sold the old computer, and all in on buying new parts, so now i need everything but a Graphics card. The only part i absolutely know nothing about and cannot decide on is the motherboard. keeping in mind, its a simple minecraft/roblox build, it would probably only have one m.2 or one SSD, so nothing special, it would probably not be overclocked, i will be using the rx 590, i will be using the cooler that comes with the CPU... what would be a decent build?
  14. I think I actually solved the problem altogether. I found on both Amazon and Newegg a deal for a Ryzen 5 4600 with a motherboard for $180. That way, I can use the same case, get an upgrade in performance, and try and squeeze in a new PSU in these $20ish.
  15. well the PSU will need to be replaced since i dont have an extra 8pin connecter to plug in the GPU, and yea this is why i thought of just replacing the CPU/MOBO + PSU. but then again, the budget is tight.
  16. The Front I/O is fine; the SATA cable from the I/O to the motherboard is in the way and prevents me from using the GPU I just bought. It's hardwired to the I/O, and I might be able to find a slim 90-degree extender that I could use, but it seems like a lot of work, and since I do have a bit of budget left for this overall birthday gift (Saturday, July 29th), I thought of fitting a "new" used CPU/mobo/power supply. I can survive without an SSD and buy it later in a few months.
  17. Budget (including currency): $200 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft/Robolox, Steam low mid, mostly indie games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): AMD RADEON RX 590 *Following the previous post on the GPU forum* *Yes I know Minecraft is mostly CPU hungry* *SOLD* *IRRELEVENT* Building my son a school/Minecraft/Roblox build, started by buying a prebuilt Lenovo tower with an i5 6500/2tb mechanical/16 GB ram. ($60) *SOLD* *IRRELEVENT* I bought an RX 590 today ($70) The problem is I will need to replace the power supply since it doesn't have the extra 8-pin for the GPU. Also, I had to unplug the front I/O From the motherboard because the cable was in the way to even mount the GPU. So I am beginning to think I will most likely need to replace the motherboard power supply probably add SSD and possibly the case to complete the build. so what would be a proper $200 best bang for the $ mobo power supply? thank you!
  18. Yea, but a new build wouldn't be $150-200. even prebuilt with these processors start at around $400. If pairing the i5 6500 with a GPU won't make any difference in Minecraft game performance, then we might as well scrap the whole idea and get him a different birthday gift. Currently, he does have an Xbox One X with Minecraft, so it's not like he can't play the game at all. but if I can get him a graphic card that will help a little and will let him play some games on my Steam library and next year buy a new computer and move the GPU over then it's worth it. I guess. maybe not.
  19. I'm afraid though that i5 6500 would not be enough for the Minecraft experience I was looking for. I mean it's not solely for Minecraft. He will be using my Steam account (which I haven't in years, as you can see in the screenshot)
  20. it will be the bedrock edition, DLCs.. playing online and so on.
  21. I see. not the answer I was hoping for haha. yea, I guess it's time to see about a new desktop rather than a GPU upgrade.
  22. So I am looking to pair a GPU for my son's new, low-end gaming desktop. (i5 6500, 16GB ram, OEM mobo) The budget is about $150, which I offered for the 2070 super but declined, and it was sold. Anyway, I am a very savvy shopper and, in the past, got far better deals than any scrapyard wars. So far, any card below the 2070 or 2070 super online has had trash pricing and was way overpriced to value (As Linus mentioned in a recent video) My question is, giving I can find another 2070 super for about $180, what would be a reasonable price for a 2060 or 2060 super? What would be the tradeoffs? What I am trying to achieve (at least for the next year until his next birthday) is solid, high settings, 144 Hz, and 1080P Minecraft experience. With DLSS is ok; no RT is needed.
  23. Locally I should be able to get off Facebook Marketplace either a GTX 1080 or, with a bit of stretching, an RTX 2060. but i also wonder which would be the AMD equivalents(or better) that i might be able to get better value off of eBay
