So randomly i raged (oops) Was smacking my keyboard on Apex, next thing I know the pc shuts down and i get a security message or some shit from apex. So pc shuts down, i look for my missing keys, and go on with my day. Just tried to play apex again and no audio. The headphones do work. They are enabled as default device. When i click test, they work. They work on youtube and every other game but apex. The only thing that doesnt work is apex, and the audio cue when you change the slider at the bottom right of your screen. Not really sure wtf i did. Restarted several times. Unplugged several times. The mic and audio both work still with the pc. Cannot figure out how to get sound back on my game.

30 up is 100 percent okay for gaming. I know people who game on 2 mbps up.

You also don't have 'only 30mbps download'. You have 912mbps down.
And I guess they have a different provider that gives symmetrical connections while yours only gives 1000/30.

I would reccomend upgrading the psu first honestly. Can also pribably find a 770 cheaper than a 1050ti. That way you can upgrade both. Unless we are talking about a proprietary HP mobo. In which case in may be possible to get an adapter for the psu.

it's also perfectly fine for a 1050 ti, the same amount of perfectly fine actually. The amount spent extra on the 1650 will not be seen in performance.

I would look at something like a 970, 980, 580 (amd), or 1060 6gb. If you are on a budget. Depending on where you live you can get a NEW 580 for about 150 atm and that comes with 2-3 games. All of these choices would outperform your current card... although the 970 would only be slightly, but you should be able to find one dirt cheap used.

Yeah. I don't believe it is temps (I will check though).  I'll try running a few stress tests when I get the chance to see if I can pin point the issue to the battery.  Thanks for the help!

Check the temps. Could be a cooling issue but i doubt it. I would say the battery is the culprit and probably the easiest thing to replace, and it sounds like it needs replaced anyway.  Probably not holding enough charge to be under load. And considering everything else works under light load, and it takes a few minutes of full load to crash it, thats more than likely the issue. Shouldnt need to replace anything else. Also just to be sure keep an eye on your cpu in task manager. Just to rule it out.

Right Side Gone reacted to PorkishPig in Cpu upgrade time. Can I steal some advice
The bottleneck you experience heavily depends on whether the title is GPU or CPU bound. Your current CPU is perfectly capable of handling most games at 1080p 60hz. You may experience a substantial bottleneck at 1440p and 4K in some titles, especially in CPU-bound games such as Grand Theft Auto V or The Witcher 3.
These results look a bit flawed to me, not sure how authentic they are.

Make sure your paste isnt too thick. Even if its just somewhat too thick it can affect your temps by a few degrees. Just double check everything. Proper airflow. Dead air in the case could cause this. Whats your exhaust fan?

Well if you can hold out a few months I’d wait on ryzen 3000.

you could pick up a ryzen 1600 + B450 board like the tomahawk or gaming pro carbon for the meantime to bridge you over till then. I’m not 100% on performance difference between your current cpu and the 1600

Depends on your system, what other components do you have?

When did you buy your current PSU? Some of older Focus+ PSUs had issues with power hungry graphics cards like 970 Strix, certain 1080 Tis and Vegas

Ddu method might work but personally i doubt it. In the past ive plugged up a newer gpu into a system in which older drivers for a different card were installed. It still had a display and i was able to uninstall drivers and install the proper ones. Not sure how one wpuld go about it but definitely inspect the slot. Worth a shot.

I second the nvidia game streaming option. My friend has it, its beta and its free. He also doesnt have an amazing connection. The res just drops . games dont lag traditionally. For OP id say its a nice temporary solution. Better than the macbook.

Just remember that dependin on which model you purchase, you're encroachin on the RTX 2060 lvl of price, so it could be more beneficial to become more future resistant if you were to purchase one of those for a little more - I'm not a fan of the RTX series, whatsoever, but the 2060 has a pretty good reputation as of right now from what I've seen.  Just remember that the future could show a different story w/longevity issues that could arise and you're stuck w/a RTX card that could be a time bomb of when it's goin to fail due to issues seen w/the higher cards.

The GTX series is def. a safe bet if you're lookin to dodge those issues, while still enjoyin yourself.  I'm lookin to get my g/f a GTX 1660 upgrade from a GTX 760, so she can upgrade to 144Hz (haven't decided 1080p or 1440p yet).  It's in the lower price bracket, while still bein a noticeable upgrade.

The old GTX cards have skyrocketed in price for new ones, so I would absolutely avoid them, especially since they're dated tech that's bein pushed out.  If you can get a good deal on a used one, then maybe, but it's still old tech and used on top of that now.  GTX 1050ti --> GTX 1660ti is over double the performance boost w/out a price hike like the old cards due to lower availability and it bein mastered tech to make it more desirable than the RTX series.

Many people're choosin the 1600 series to avoid so many of those issues, while still bein an upgrade and up-to-date for both current and future titles.

Here ya go.. Better GPU, better storage, better motherboard, 2600 will be fine if you don't need 8 cores, trust me I'm using one right now. You'll get better gaming performance from this than the 2700X build.. The stock cooler is also decent so I wouldn't get an aftermarket one until you at least try the stock.. $149 for the 2600 is a steal!
