  1. Ok thank fucking god. Sorry but I have been having so much trouble with windows server for the past couple of days. I installed it on a windows 7 certified mobo (Asus Sabertooth Z87) before hand to test it out and I tired to install the drivers on there and they would not work. The mobo that I am using now (Gigabyte H97M-D3H) is windows 8 certified so I will give installing the drivers a shot. I hope it works. Ok I will try that right now.
  2. Ok, so I am moving my minecraft server from a ubuntu machine to a windows server because I am SICK of all the errors and bugs that I encountered over the past 3 months with ubuntu. After I installed windows server 2012 r2 (first time using windows server) I noticed my built-in Ethernet adapter wasn't working. I looked around and found out that only certain types of nic cards work with windows server. I was wondering can anyone recommend me a CHEAP gigabit Ethernet adapter that I can buy at my local bestbuy that is compatible with Windows Server 2012 R2?
  3. True but like I said I am trying to future proof this server. Also if I ever want to host another game I would be read. My speed is 50Mbps.\ Like I said I just heard from that guy that xeox would be better for 24/7 servers. Edit: also since it does not come with built in graphics it would be a little cheaper while still getting above performance no?
  4. I guess nothing is wrong with the current cpu it's just I want it to be as little wattage as possible while still preforming amazingly, and the user stated that xeox is build to have the server run 24/7 (which is what I am planning to do) which is why I thought it would be a good choice to go xeon. I am trying to future proof. Right now I have 10 people on and my userbase is expanding everyday. The thing is I am REALLY heavy on plugins, also it won't just be used for a mc server, my ubuntu machine will also be running a php server and other stuff.
  5. Alright so my old thread went dead as no one wanted to post after my bump. Basicly, I was given this build by a user (I am keeping the 32GB) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fKT6FT I wanted to confirm with the community and I was told by some user that. kjvnasa, on 30 Apr 2015 - 09:47 AM, said: So my question now is that can someone recommend me a good xeox cpu and compatible motherboard that could handle 32GB DDR3?
  6. Can you reccomend me any? Also a cheap mobo that supports 32gb ddr3 ram?
  7. What are the advantages/disadvantages? Power consumption? Price(cheap)?
  8. I am reusing old components such as case, storage, power supply, etc. I just need feedback on the cpu, mb and ram. I think it's back online and faction server, 24/7. no clue how many players right now I have 10 on and i'm expanding my playerbase everyday so I want to future proof it(We use a lot of ram) and I right now have 50Mbps.
  9. I'm making a new minecraft server. I was recommended this build and I wanted to know if that is true before I go and buy the cpu before it isn't on sale anymore. (I am keeping the 32gb) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fKT6FT
  10. Sounds good. Also is this a very low power consumption build?
  11. With 16GB of RAM (I'd suggest this one) Ty I only needed the 32gb build though and I will just reuse my parts other then the cpu, ram, and mb. I have spigot already and how would I check for memory leaks?
  12. I have used hosts many times before and I just don't like pay per month thing, I'd rather host it at home were all I have to do it pay for the electricity. I have 8GB and 56 plugins including dynmap (which takes up A LOT of ram). I checked my ram usage on ubuntu and whenever the server starts up, the usage starts of 2gb used and then it exponentially grows until it hits 7.9Gb of ram and then CRASH! The server restarts. Also thank you, I will choose the E3-1270V3 (Oh shit, I didn't even see the cpu and mobo wasn't compatiable.)I was just focusing on getting a low power xeox mobo that I didn't even pay attention to the socket type. Can you recommend me any CHEAP LGA 1150 MB that supports 32gb of ddr3? Also I don't have a budget right now I am just trying to set myself a goal and after I collected enough money from donations I will purchase the items, but I don't want the item's to be ridiculously overpriced is all.
  13. I need a 32gb of ram because with only 8gb currently I am experiencing a lot of crashes do to not having enough ram. I run a lot of plugins. Right now I run a mobo that supports ddr2 so I need to completely upgrade my rig. What is the best price to performance rig? What would be better for a minecraft server? Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182253R CPU: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Processor-E3-1270-BX80646E31270V3-Cache/dp/B00D697QRM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1430103618&sr=1-1&keywords=E3-1270V3 or http://www.amazon.com/Intel-E3-1220-Processor-Socket-LGA1155/dp/B004O3DFEM DDR3: I need some cheap ddr3 4x8G ram
  14. Thank you for the advice and I need 32 gb because I love to fuck around (so to speak) on my server and I have about 55+ plugins so you can see that memory would be quite a big deal. Also I am hoping to expand the server a little more thus trying to future proof the server as much as possible. I also found out after disabling on of my plugins that the dynmapic map plugin was the one taking up a whole bunch of ram. Also would this be a good build? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182253R http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Processor-E3-1270-BX80646E31270V3-Cache/dp/B00D697QRM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1430103618&sr=1-1&keywords=E3-1270V3 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mushkin-32gb-4x8gb-DDR3-pc3-17000-Blackline-memory-kit-994124-/171762443418?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27fdd6e49a
  15. Alright so just hypothetically lets forget about my old build and say that I was going to make a new one. What would be the best build for me. As in what is the best low cost build (supporting 32gb ram and ddr3) and what is the best price to preference build (supporting 32gb ram and ddr3) for a minecraft server?
  16. The MB that I have right now is an ASUS MZN68-AM PLUS Would I need to upgrade? Also if so what is the cheapest ddr2/ddr3 board that supports 32GB ram?
  17. OH shit, I'm stupid I didn't notice it was 16x2GB I saw it the other way around. I guess the question now is should I buy 32gb cards. I only have 2 slots. Also not sure why I am running out of memory. I have a lot of plugins but it can't just be that.
  18. Backstory Alright so about a month back, I turned my old pc into a minecraft server by installing ubuntu 15.04 and setting all the essentials up (My sql, php, etc...). Right now I am managing a 9-10 people online per day server and only recently I have run into the server crashing and giving my an error of out of memeory. I am using 7 out of 8 GB of the DDR 2(It's an old machine) memory that I have and since it's still not enough I was wondering.... Should I get 32GB upgrade? is it worth it? RIght now I am trying to spend as little money as possible on upgrades until I can get some donations on the server, but I found someone on ebay that is selling 16x2 GB of rams for only $37. http://www.ebay.com/itm/32GB-16x2GB-MEMORY-PC2-5300-667MHz-ECC-FULLY-BUFFERED-DDR2-240-PIN-/171623602953 It is a little slower then the stock 800MHZ ram that I have right now and I want to know will that really degrade my performance?
  19. Sounds good. I will just buy the case for now then. Also believe me I will be needing 17.
  20. I buy stuff when I see it is on sale. For instance I just bought 17 noctua professional 3000 PWM fans that were on sale for $16.99 instead of the $27.99 price.
  21. So basicly buy all my components except the mobo? Will x99 mobo's come with that connector in the future?
  22. What do you mean I won't be able to use pascal on my mobo? Isn't it backwards compatible with PCIe 3.0?
  23. I will not be using those GPU's. I need to wait till the next lineup of GPU's come out. Also not all the components are on there (such as the water pump) and I will be overclocking a lot so I will be needing that extra space. True, I will probably buy it now and if it is lower on black Friday then I will return it. I just don't want to risk the PSU not being on sale on black friday is all.
