    That was something I enabled when trying to fix it. I have then restaured the settings to default in the nvidia cp and it didn't change anything

    Hello, I have a problem with what I assume is antialiasing. Some games show white lines/borders even though I have all antialiasing and anisotropic settings maxed out Here's a screenshot and a small video as an example (you can see it around the gun and on the safe walls) As shown in the video, the antialiasing and anisotropic filtering are maxed out I also did that on the nvidia control panel, but it didn't do anything (sorry, it's in portuguese) Other games also show some signs of this, although not as pronounced.... Anyone knows what's up? Thanks

    Hey, so I got a new PC and among the first few games that I installed was Need For Speed. However, it shows a lot of white dots on reflective surfaces, and I don't know if the graphics card is dying. It's more noticeable in-game but also in this live-action/pre-rendered shot (headlights, mostly) https://streamable.com/kp50 What do you guys think? Is the GPU dead?

    Hello! I'm building a PC and I've actually ordered the Asus GTX 1060 Turbo today. Link However, I started considering cancelling the order, and getting the Gigabyte G1 Gaming for ~32€ more Link (Listed as 369, but it's 10% off today) I'd really like to go with the cheapest option here for budget reasons, unless there is something really wrong with the blower design on the Asus side, like heavy thermal throttling... So what's your opinion? Is an extra fan really worth 32€? Thanks y'all

    Yeah, I also saw that page before posting, but this is my first build and I don't know which of those specs are actually meaningful for a basic gaming computer. Sorry, I should have included the specs (and will now edit the post), but I'll be getting the i5-6500, so I can't really overclock! Alright, thanks! I don't think I'll need many more drives or expansion cards in the future so if these are the main differences I think I'll stick to the B150...

    Hello, so I'm building a PC and initially chose a H110 MSI motherboard, but have since then decided on a B150. However, there I see a lot of people just recommend the H170 straight away. Is there any real difference between the two? The motherboards in question are the MSI B150M PRO-VDH and the MSI H170M PRO-VDH simply because they're the cheapest with each chipset and I really don't want to spend much money. Please explain why one might be better than the other one! Thanks a lot Edit: I forgot to include the specs of the PC, which is somewhat relevant - i5 6500 // 2x4 GB of RAM // 240 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD // either a GTX 1060 or a RX 480. Also the case has 2 USB 3.0 connectors and an SD card reader on the front, but from my quick research, getting a board with that many headers will be much more expensive

    Hey, so I'm building my first PC with an i5-6500, 8 GB of RAM, and either a RX 480 or a GTX 1060. My question is how much wattage do I need for a build of this kind, because I narrowed my power supply search down to 3 based on STRMfrmXMN's whitelist/tiers, but don't know which is best for me, based on wattage and price: XFX TS 450W 80+ Bronze (56,90€) Seasonic S12II 430W 80+ Bronze (59,90€) XFX TS 550W 80+ Bronze (64,90€) I'd appreciate some advice and suggestions Thanks PS: I included the prices because I'm on a really limited budget, so hopefully it'll give you an idea of prices around here

    What about physically disabling the sensor? is this something that is sottered in, or does it have some kind of plug?

    Please, only respond with ways to disable the thermal throttling; I have been looking into this for months now, the problem isn't in the cooling. Also, I am well aware that it is unsafe and might damage the computer, but it is my last resort...

    Hey, so a while back, I've made this post aboout my computer thermal throttling - http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/367641-95-%C2%BAc-on-cpu-throttling-for-apparent-reason/ After being in reparis for weeks, they've sent it back saying the problem is in the motherboard and didn't fix it, so I assume it's a problem in the temperature sensor. What I'd like to know is if there is a way to turn the thermal throttling off completely, other than doing it in the BIOS (because I the option isn't there) This is a Samsung 300E5A laptop Please and thank you

    Try using a wide rubberband between the screw and the screwdriver, press as hard as you can (without breaking the laptop) and twist while pressing down on the rubberband/screw

    I hope that replacing the thermal paste fixes the overheating issues... reinstalling windows seems a bit radical lol. Otherwise, yeah.. I'll have to look into buying a new laptop towards christmas time, or hopefully build my first real PC and stop having these silly problems

    I always run in High Performance, I only mentioned it because back when I reset the BIOS settings, I noticed a CPU option was defaulted to power savings

    No, I'm not opening and closing the laptop, lol. I uninstalled the drivers through the device manager and deleted the C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2 folder. Shouldn't that be enough of a clean install? Yeah, I checked that part when I opened the PC myself. Surprisingly, it did have a bit of dust, but it was minimal (could even see through it) and I tried to clean as much as I could

    I'm not sure if you can have everyday stuff running in the background on idle tests, but here's an image showing you the temps while not doing anything: http://i.imgur.com/Cp8kEMo.jpg?1 Based on the temperatures I usually get, I wouldn't call this overheating, but SpeedFan does show some flame icons I'll see about replacing the thermal paste sometime this week. And how do I check if something is using the GPU? The temperatures on Speedfan suggest it isn't being used too much (although I must admit pattern is weird)

    GTX 520MX The drivers were updated, but I still uninstalled them and did a fresh install -- nothing changed

    I did 4 tests with AIDA64 running - CPU, GPU, Both, CS:GO - and the CPU throttled on all of them, except on CPU-only stress test, which confirms my suspicions I guess...     Reset the BIOS and there aren't any voltage options on it, just basic stuff like CPU power savings mode (which was enabled by default) and still no change. Also tried to disable the power savings -- didn't affect anything On a side note, I have noted that the GPU is hitting even higher temperatures than the CPU (~97 ºC) maybe the heat is coming from there?

    Yes, as I stated in the topic, the fan is spinning at full speed when under load and blowing out hot air

    This has gone a bit off-topic, but please note that my old thermal compound was still in good condition, and the new one has a few days, so I kinda doubt it's worth changing it for the 3rd time to see if it makes any difference? Edit: Also, even if my CPU did have crappy thermal paste, it would still transfer heat... Reaching 95ºC makes me think the problem comes from some malfunctioning in the CPU which makes it release a stupidly high amount of heat
