I built a new computer yesterday, and everything has been working fine since, however all of a sudden my keyboard, mouse and display all cut out with the pc still on, so naturally i went to go turn it off it didnt, so i left it for 20mins cameback still wasnt turning off by the power button so i had to use the powersupply. During the time of the cut out my gpu was simulating so its usage was 100% my only guess is it caused a power surge and now my motherboard is fried. This doesnt make much sense to me since i had more than enough power to handle all the components. The motherboard is a gigabyte aorus elite ax v2, now when i turn the computer on the orange light stays off i get zero display and my keyboard and mouse dont work, however all fans seem to be spinning including the gpu's. Temps before this were fine as well Any ideas what this could be, is my motherboard fried, if so would this be covered by warranty as im pretty sure ive done nothing wrong?

Help, Psu loud after memory install
CrazieChipmunk replied to CrazieChipmunk's topic in Power Supplies
That would probably make sense since its not as loud as before but still louder just the fact that it got extremely loud at first made me think something went wrong, but your probably right thank you -
Help, Psu loud after memory install
CrazieChipmunk replied to CrazieChipmunk's topic in Power Supplies
my theory is that the psu is just outputting more power because of the new ram or just isnt use to it yet but i have no idea what im talking about -
I installed Ram yesterday and replaced my old ram, put then ew ram in the same slot etc made sure it was in, turned pc on and i get greeted with a loud vrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm from my psu so as probably anyone would i panicked waited for it to boot and then shut down, after i turned it back on everything was fine. I have now turned it on today and my psu isnt as loud but louder than it was before i installed the new memory. System is b450 tomahawk, Corsair Vengeance 32gb 3000mhz Ram, cpu r5 3600, gpu rtx 2060 super, psu corsair TX550M.

So i just upgraded my new gpu and really didnt want to take out the psu and reinstall all the other cables so i as you can imagine i had a hard time getting the pcie cable in to the powersupply because of my shear laziness. I didnt hear anything click but as far as i can tell its in there and ive nudged it a bit to see if it would fall out but its firmly in there as far as i can tell, its the right way up i was jst wondering worst case circumstances if the cable isnt in correctly what could happen?

Ive seen the gigabyte model 3 fan selling for a good price now 320 pounds, but i am debating on whether to buy it now since im aware amd may release/announce there next gen gpu's somewhere in march (probably) and im happy to spare some more cash to buy the said new gpu's (around the 400 pounds range). Thoughts? System specs: cpu ryzen 3600 gpu 1050ti (definitely needs an upgrade lol) psu:550watt corsair Txm Ram:16gb 3000mhz monitor is 4k 60hz second is 1080p 144hz and then the cooler storage etc...

So ive decided that i want to upgrade the stock cooler for the 3600 to an aio however i was wondering how i should go about cleaning the thermal paste off like should i do it in the case which is waht i was considering but then i thought what if i was to damage the pin for putting to much pressure with the alcoholic wipes and how i can stop the cpu sticking to the fan/coming off with it?

Sounds form either hard drive or psu
CrazieChipmunk replied to CrazieChipmunk's topic in Troubleshooting
thanks for the help, i dont think its anything its very quiet but still noticeable ive saved everything important to one drive just in case -
it sounds like a woodpecker lightly hitting something, it might just be normal and noise i haven't heard because its very suttle

I can afford to wait for the 30 series or i could buy a 2070 super now, mostly going to want to use it for 3d modelling/sculpting as well as gaming Reason is i think the 30 series will have like alright frames for ray tracing. I use a 4k monitor 60hz but game at 1440p.
-
exactly my thinking
-
yes but i would bet that nividia has a 30 series in the works/ready to release plus consoles(ps5) are on the way as well near november so who knows really but im pretty sure there will be and if there isnt ill have even more to spend on like a 2070 s or 2080
-
amd roadmap has 2020 gpu's
-
i know but my logic was if another competitor comes in then prices will drop by about 50-60 pounds kinda like what happened with super and navi
-
the rest of my system is fully up to date if we are talking about my cpu its the 3600

I think i might actually skip this gen and keep my 1050ti till next year when the new gpus launch because rtx will have more value then as well as a 3rd choice in the market which is intel, i have made this decision because im not going to be gaming that much anyway this year and the games i ahve now my 1050ti runs fine and even on "some" newer games it runs great such as sekiro so i think ill hold out till next year. Thoughts on my decision

well the Thicc card actually seems to have some issues judging by amazon reviews, for an artist the 5700 xt and 5700 will be fine because there gpu's there built for rendering so they should do you fine but nividia is also a good option still because amd drivers are really bad at the moment

would having high volts fry my cpu
CrazieChipmunk replied to CrazieChipmunk's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Ok that is what i thought my temps are quite normal and 38-45 idle 50-55 on a hot day at 32 room temp but that rarely happens in the uk, i will update my bios after about 3-4 months due to having a b450 tomahawk which i quickly found out is the most unstable board ever for ryzen 3000
