  1. So, during a restoration using the system image restore on a windows 10, it failed and left my C drive RAW. If i install a new copy of windows 10 onto the C drive, can i use the image to restore it back to before the issues? Note that I'm using the same hardware and this backup is from the same system.
  2. I have an Acer Nitro 5 laptop with a 1050ti inside, which I use to play VR games and the like on my Quest using virtual desktop. Now, virtual desktop for quest requires that the host computer set the default renderer in my laptop to my GPU. I've noticed that ever since I updated to the latest GeForce driver, that all programs running on my GPU that aren't games get this glitchy pixel effect if left idle. I've set most of my most used programs back to integrated and they work without a single issue, but the graphics bug just shows up in all of my programs running in GPU. Keep in mind that this doesn't happen in games at all, and that when i moused over certain parts of the programs that did glitch out, the glitchy effect went away or changed. The fact that I was able to take a screenshot of the effect shows that it isn't a display issue, but something is wrong. Any ideas on what I could do to fix the problem or what the problem is exactly?
  3. We're comparing two cards for "budget" gaming. We're not comparing them to today's standards at all. This is just a general comparison of price and power.
  4. Which of these cards offers the better "bang for your buck"? Which is truly a better experience in terms of budget gaming?
  5. that DDR3 version is something terrible.
  6. If there's any card that takes up two slots but still fit into low profile that'd work too, i use an EVGA GeForce GTX 750 ti, but the extender makes the card sit the side of the open tower at all times, getting dust and junk stuck in the tower and card, as well as leaving all the components exposed. I just need a card that is close enough to the power of the 750 ti that will fit into my tower and will let me close it.
  7. On amazon, there doesn't seem to be any single slot ones (unless they can take two slots in low profile), and they are more expensive than the 1030 by gigabyte.
  8. I use a dell optiplex 790 DT, and need a card that is low profile and single slot. I've been looking at the GT 1030 GDDR5 version, but is there an AMD equivalent? It should be: 1. Be low profile or have low profile bracket included 2. Be a single slot card that isn't too large 3. Be the same or higher power than the GT 1030 itself. 4. prefer to be inexpensive This would be a huge help if i can find an AMD card that is more worth the money than the GT 1030.
  9. my second concern is the size of the heatsink. Would it be too large? Would it face towards the CPU fan or the power supply fan?
  10. I have a Dell Optiplex 790 DT, and after a discussion here I decided to purchase this card so that I could solve the case problem. The only issue is that I 100% need to know if it would fit the tower. I know it comes with a low profile bracket, but I need to know for sure. Can somebody quiet my fears and figure out if it would fit with the dimensions of the Optiplex 790 DT?
  11. Looks a bit too long to fit, does it have low profile fittings? EDIT: It also seems the passive cooling one is 1 dollar cheaper.
  12. So, in January my friend showed me the $69 gaming PC video and I decided to set out and build a cheap rig to call my own. Instead of choosing the same exact parts as Linus did, I went with different specs. I bought and old workstation (Dell Optiplex 790 slim) for around $90, which came with 8gb RAM, an intel i3 dual core processor, and a power supply. I got a monitor from my uncle, and the build was looking fine. I ordered a EVGA GeForce 750 ti and as I expected it wouldn't fit. The case was too small and the card was too long. So I bought an extender like in Linus's video, except the first one I got was for $9, but there were 2 issues. A) It was looong. B) It would crash the computer every few minutes. So I bought a new one that worked just fine, except that the card would sit on the edge of the tower while it was on its' side. The problem I face is that the tower is always open. The card is always exposed face up, and the extender makes the card sit on the edge, meaning that dust, pet hair, and just about anything that would accumulate over time. I leave the computer for a few hours and come back to see the heatsink in the graphics card is covered in dust, and that the inside is getting dusty. My only thoughts were to get my hands on a single profile, single slot GPU to allow the case to close, but after some research I think that none of the cards like GT 1030 or any of AMD's single slot cards would fit due to the motherboard and case having specific size prevents that. I need some advice or solutions to help me somehow get that case to close. Note: I'm not modifying the case or card, since selling them once i've got something better. (which will be a while)
