  1. I'm looking for a RTX #080. I usually by the "flagship". Price is never the issue, I'm more looking for the wisest choice. I might have confused some people when I said (because of price) for the new motherboard. It's only that I rarely buy "for Gamers" stuff. It's marketting pure and simple. From the data I've read online, the DDR5 helps for my games such as Squad and DCS. Also, I'm not looking for the F version of the CPU, I always like to have a "gpu" available incase the video card fails.
  2. Budget (including currency): CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming 95%+ of the time. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hello LTT Forums, I'm looking for a small discusion if possible to inlight my futur build. =) Current Rig: -Monitor: Asus ROG PG279 (G-Sync) -CPU: Intel i7-6700K -Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 -MB: Asus Z170-A -RAM: 16GB 3200Mhz -GPU: Asus GTX 1080 Strix OC 8GB -PSU: Corsair HX850W -OS: Win10 Here's a few games that I play: Final Fantasy 14, Baldur's Gate 3, DCS, Squad. My usual setting are 1440p (High/Max settings) I'm also still using an optical drive to play my older games: Command and Conquer 3, Sim City 3000, Disciple 2 to name a few. I'm currently looking at this upgrade: -Monitor: Asus ROG PG279 (G-Sync) -CPU: Intel i7-14700K -Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 (upgrade kit) -MB: Asus TUF Gaming Z790-Plus (because of the price atm) -RAM: 32GB 5600Mhz -GPU: Asus GTX 1080 Strix OC 8GB (waiting on RTX 5000 release) -PSU: Corsair HX850W -OS: Win10 I sold my soul nvidia for the GPU, I won't switch to an AMD GPU. But I'm wondering on the CPU. I'm used to always buy Intel (due to the games that I play). I've even recommended the 7800X3D to some of my friends and view the Intel as a bad budget choice. I feel I should get a 7800X3D but apart of me feels I'll be missing out or have trouble with some of my games... I do small OC to none. ATM, I've OC my current rig with the XMP to 12% according to my Asus Motherboard. Here's one of the problem I see: If I go Intel, I won't have enough cable with my current PSU to power 2x CPU socket (the HX850W only comes with 1x8-pin). I will have some space to none for a slight OC. If I go AMD, I'll have more room for OC since they tend to be less power hungry. If the LTT community could help me making "the right choice", I'd really appreciate. (sorry english isn't my 1st language)
  3. Hello community, I'm looking for second thoughts. ^^ I got a modem (not a modem/router) with a 100Mb bandwith speed from my ISP. I'm currently equipped with 2 router D-Link DIR-655. 1 which is the "router" and the 2nd is used as an AP. All of my devices are wired except handheld devices (phones, Nintendo Switch, etc...) My wife and I are PC gamers and we enjoy our netflix apart and we never suffered from any lack of connection. I've notice lately that my router is doing some "hickups" (currently troubleshooting) and I might be looking for a new router before it dies. If I were to shop for a new router, I'm tempted to get like a Netgear XR300. But on the other hand I'm pretty sure I could get along with a D-Link 605L or Netgear 1750.
  4. My current laptop is a Dell Latitude E5450. Personnally I've always been satisfied with Dell and Asus. Although I did work with Lenovo in the past and I wasn't displeased with the design. The Lenovo ThinkPad is a bit pricy for me. I was looking for the range of 1200-1600$. Is it reasonnable or?
  5. Hello, I need a new laptop for my job. I'm a system manager for video surveillance at my work and we're using Milestone Systems XProtect. It is recommended to use Intel CPU for QuickSyncVideo and an Nvidia Graphics card 10 and up for coding. (I have no idea if AMD could work because Milestones recommends Intel and Nvidia everywhere.) I've looked up some laptop at Asus and Dell but I feel like its either under performing or overkill (gaming laptop). I was wondering if someone on the forum would know any laptop that could fit my needs. Ideal build would be: CPU: Intel i5 with 2.6 Ghz clockspeeds or higher (or AMD equivilant) GPU: Nvidia Geforce 1050 or higher Screen: 15'' SSD or NVMe: 500GB
  6. Hello, I've got a problem with a tablet and I'm out of ideas to fix it so I'm asking this forum to help me out please ^^ I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.5 Model SM-T800 which is always rebooting. I see the Galaxy Tab logo then the samsung lettering appearing then it resets by it self. I do not have acces to the home menu. I do have acces to install a custom OS. Here's what I've done so far: - Fully charge the tablet - Fully drain the battery for 1 day then charge back to 100% - Tried with and without SD Card - Wipe cache - Factory reset - Install the lastest official firmware (provided by sammobile) - Install the 1st release firmware (provided by sammobile) - I've opened the tab and check-up on the PCB, every things is fine, the battery isn't bloated I'm not accustomed to fix tablet btw. My biggest issue was when I tried installing a new firmware it "did work". The loading is doing fine, once it is done it says installing and once the progress bar reaches about 40% it says erasing then it restarts. I think the installation works even if it keep bootlooping because when I go into recovery mode it shows the version that I've installed. So... help me linustechtips you are my only hope =)
  7. The PSU is a Corsair CX750W.
  8. He already has an SSD and yes the CPU is slightly OC, the Heatsink isn't that great.
  9. Hello, I'm currently looking for a new GPU for the PC for my father. He plays Diablo 3 and Heroes of the Storms mostly. He's currently playing at 1080p @ 60 hz. I want to buy him a new GPU and probably a monitor later on but I want to mainly focus on a GPU for now. I want him to run those games 1440p @ 144hz. I've always been with NVIDIA for gpu's but AMD is looking good these days. I might be too chicken to switch to AMD and regret it. So far I've been looking at RX 570 8GB, GTX 1660 6GB or GTX 1060 6GB... Current Build: CPU: i7-2600K MB: P8Z68-V Pro RAM: 8GB DDR3 GPU: GTX 580 PSU: 750W Your thoughts please ^^
  10. Tried a bunch of old drives (dvd driver when I got the card years ago), new, beta, nothing mattered... I've sticked to the lasted offered by nvidia. After few testings, I've installed afterburner. Increased my voltage from 1000 to 1025. No crash since last week.
  11. The PSU is a Corsair CX750W. I mean it's not loaded or anything... Probably 4 years old ish.
  12. Hi, My Dad is playing Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 (aka Blizzard games, mostly) on an old rig that I've build for him. Spec: CPU: i7-2600K MB: Asus P8Z68-V Pro GPU: Zotac GTX 580 OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit Recently, he's been playing games and the PC is crashing from times to times. Like instant full reboot. Some other times, the screen goes black and comes back on with a pop up that says the driver has crashed. These can happen from 1-2 times a day to 5-6 times a day. I've formated the whole PC (from Windows 10 to Windows 7) just in case. After two weeks no problems but then it happens again. I've googled a bit and some people are talking about the Video Card being "under power". 1st, I was wondering what this community was thinking about my problem. 2nd, Any solutions I could try?
