  1. some people have accurately predicted how much product prices would change in the past. Just a question man
  2. What up guys, I'm going off to college and I'm considering two options for my laptop situation. I'm either going to buy an RTX gaming laptop before the next fall-term starts and double it as my gaming/schoolwork device. OR I'm going to buy a cheaper, more school oriented laptop first, and wait to buy an RTX laptop until my second or third year. I won't really need a mobile gaming setup until I'm traveling for my co-ops. I want to know if within a year or two, how much will it cost to buy an RTX gaming laptop? (like the razer blade 15, MSI gs65, or ASUS Zephyrus) Do you guys think the price will drop? What are your price estimates for a year from now? Two years?
  3. since I'm also going to be using it for school, I'd like to be able to get atleast 4-6 hours when doing minimal-tasks (using chrome, typing a paper, etc.) I don't really mind how bad the battery life is when I'm gaming, I'll have it plugged in whenever I game. I'd like to have a 2070 or 2080 GPU, and maybe be able to turn off unneeded graphics setting to save battery when I'm not gaming.
  4. I know there's a master thread on this topic but I just want to be sure. I'm looking to buy a laptop for college and spending around 2-3K. I've narrowed it down to the Razer Blade 15, ASUS Zephyrus , MSI gs75, and Gigabyte aero 15. It seems to be a trend that the higher-end submodels for each of these laptops lack displayports and displayport mini's, but have USB type-c ports that support display port 1.4. My question is would connecting my g-sync monitor (via displayport to type-c adapter) to one of these ports still allow the monitor to utilize g-sync?
  5. also, since money isn't a big factor here, would you recommend the MSI GS75 over the 65?
  6. I'd say no more than 6 or 7 pounds, and if I'm doing moderate school work (i.e. using word, taking notes, surfing the web), I'd like the battery to last atleast 5 or 6 hours. And yes, I mean external monitor, I REALLY need an answer to this question because it will decide if I should bother spending more on a model with a higher refresh-rate when I could just use my 144hz g-sync monitor. Display Port is a pre-requisite for g-sync monitors, so would using a DP to lightning or hdmi keep the monitor from being able to utilize g-sync? As far as I can tell, none of these laptops have a DP input.
  7. yeah I should have mentioned that the area 51m is dead last on my list. It's way more expensive, bigger, has 2 big a** charging bricks, and is apparently loud af when the fans are at max. I only mentioned it incase anyone had an argument for it besides upgrade-ability.
  8. I'm located in Cincinnati. Looking to spend around $2-3k, but will go higher if you think there's one worth the price. I want something that doesn't kill my back if I have it in my book bag. And as far as the screen goes, I need someone to tell me if most laptops can support a 24 in g-sync monitor. If they can, then size doesn't matter.
  9. I'm looking to spend around $2-3k. I know there isn't a great option for battery life which is fine, as long as it lasts around 5-6 hours if I'm only doing school-work. If I'm gaming, I'll be somewhere with an outlet.
  10. Here's my situation. I'm going off to college soon and want a gaming laptop that is still good for CAD and other engineering programs. This will be my graduation present, so price isn't terribly important, we'll just say around $2,000-3,000 for now. I've read/ watched a bunch of reviews and right now I'm considering the following: ASUS Zephyrus gx701, Razer Blade RTX, and the Alienware Area 51m. I'm open to any suggestions though. I plan to use a separate keyboard for gaming, and a mouse for most classwork, so the laptop's aren't a big factor. I have one big question. Lot's of these laptops seem to have sub-models that sacrifice fps for a higher resolution OLED panels, but I plan on gaming mostly in my dorm, so I could use a monitor. Would any of these be able to handle my 24" 1440p 144hz g-sync monitor? If so, would it be smarter to get the higher quality panel options and just game on the monitor? Other things to consider: I have a gaming desktop, but I'm giving it to my Dad who still plays far cry 3 on a dinosaur (poor guy doesn't get more than 30 fps but refuses to upgrade), so I want a laptop that will last me 4 years until I can build a desktop. I will also be moving around alot during my co-oping, so I'd need to be able to game on the road, otherwise I would just buy a surface pro and keep my desktop in my dorm for gaming.
