lordoftime79 got a reaction from Ilegator in Are these VRMs heatsinks well installed?
it will only cause problems if its touching the contacts of the caps = the body/can isnt part of the circuit.

lordoftime79 got a reaction from glenalz81 in Why AMD can't keep up with Nvidia?
you guys all be nuts anyway i dont pay more than 350 for a video card (im on sickness benifits due to chronic illness) so I always buy a couple of generations behind... trying to be bleeding edge is a mugs game that will only lead to a empty bank balance lol

lordoftime79 got a reaction from Sychic in Why AMD can't keep up with Nvidia?
I gotta be honest with you, I think its just a lot of clever marketing!!! I have used Nvidia machines and my Daily driver is an AMD videocard and I honestly can say that in real world use i see no difference... infact I always tend to go in AMD's favour due to pricing and bang for buck... Nvidia video cards are a name, like say Addidas running shoes, sure there are Nike and Rebok but some people just prefer the Addidas brand and I think its the same kind of thing!!! if Nvidia lowered the prices to be competetive with AMD I think even more people would make the switch to team green. thats just my 2 cents!

yea id go with foam or rubber pads underneath the speakers. even funky foam from a craft store should work!

lordoftime79 got a reaction from 2SidedPolygon in GPU not saving settings
i think its a bug with the Wattman part of the AMD drivers - I have used MSI afterburner in the past to do this.

I'll replace my PSU cable and add a surge protector. If that doesn't fix it, I'll try a different outlet. If that fixes it, I'll try to get an electrician. If that doesn't fix it, I'll get a new PSU.

lordoftime79 got a reaction from Minidak in 3700x vs 3900x: what to expect on the electricity bills and temps department?
most modern hardware is far more power efficent than previous generations so you should be good, all though I feel i have to say I cant ever tell any discernable difference in my engery bills when upgrading... i tend to find my bills are a little higher when my brother and nephew stay over using xbox one and charging multiple extra android devices! so your experiences may differ.

Not a big enough change to notice a difference in the electricity bills (unless you are super conservative with every other electric appliance).
We have no idea about thermals, but if you get a really good heatsink such as the Dark Rock Pro 4, I am betting my PC that it's going to stay silent.

lordoftime79 got a reaction from Belgarionbg in What killed my PC? Do Noctua's explode?
somethings been spilled in that!!! I repair retro consoles as my main hobby and the amount of Super Nintendos, Atari's and Sega Megadrives with liquid damage that look like that is amazing!!!!

lordoftime79 got a reaction from JJayden2000 in WTF is happening???
I think you are confusing loading with connecting - I run all my games and OS from SSD and all is fast apart from Guildwars 2 and that slowness isnt from the files on the disk but from the data comming in from the internet.

lordoftime79 got a reaction from c0mplexx* in Is it safe to put an unplugged pc laying on its side on the floor?
safe id put a towel or a newspaper under it to stop it getting scratched.

lordoftime79 got a reaction from Ben17 in Anyone ever made their own gaskets?
well I know you are meaning for computers but I have done this many times for cars as I used be a bit of a boy racer all I can say is it worked fine in a hot oily engine so probably would fare well in a nice dry computer.
I used a silcone gasket compound and gasket card purchased from the Auto repair store.

lordoftime79 reacted to Skiiwee29 in Pc is underperforming
You have single channel RAM, Problem A. Upgrading your RAM config to run Dual channel will net you a decent boost in performance. Secondly, and most important, is you're running the RAM at 2133 mhz, which is basically hand cuffs on Ryzen. You are losing a good chunk of performance from this as well. Ryzen craves RAM speeds of 3000-3200mhz for optimal gaming performance. So by upgrading to a 2x kit of 3000 or 3200mhz ram, you will gain a very very noticeable boost in performance.

lordoftime79 got a reaction from Origami Cactus in Umm I think my hard drive is about to die can I get a second opinion
check your harddisks S.M.A.R.T monitoring - that should indicate if there is a fault with the disk - however it could just be the low ram causing the pagefile to get hammered!!!!
