  1. Well then it's not loosing signal - it's a crash or lockup.
  2. it will only cause problems if its touching the contacts of the caps = the body/can isnt part of the circuit.
  3. my motherboard is a ASUS X99 Sabretooth so I am more inclined to believe its the CPU.
  4. yea they were horrid chips - I especially didnt like the duron... they used to run so hot!
  5. I dont think the ram is at fault as its 2 kits of the same type... my cpu only supports upto 2133 is this the problem?
  6. tried this before - machine just wont boot until i go back into bios and set ram speed back to auto.
  7. i killed a AMD Duron and a Intel Celeron this way I was not happy as at the time I worked in crappy retail and barely had any money!

Hi there, I have recently built a very cheap, very fast Xeon system - using a Haswell based CPU - I am using DDR4 at 2133mhz my DDR4 is actually corsair and its rated upto 3000mhz can I run the ram faster? or is it limited by the CPU's ram speed? I have tried other speed settings but I get memory fails and have to open my case and hit the mem okj button to get it to boot.

  10. What??? so have you not been into computers until recently? or was you sick of getting shafted by PC World? (that was what made me start building my own - PC World fucked me over twice)
  11. Is this an ASUS board by any chance? Just that I have owned 3 different ASUS boards over the last 5 years and they all do this - other than that they are perfectly fine!
  12. Jesus how old are you guys? Like 7 or something? My first pc build was a socket 7 pentium 200mmx back in 1997 I feel 100 years old reading this thread!!! Do 40 year olds like me not pc these days or am i missing something???

  14. your friend is a moron - its just windows being a dick... sounds totally unrelated to hardware! either reinstall windows or use system restore and roll back to before your pc started acting screwy... no drama
  15. might be oxidization on the cpu pads, perhaps give it a wipe with isoprop and reinsert it.
  16. you need to plug the pcie power in properly the end 2 pins arnt fully in! (the ones circled in the picture)

I am pretty sure its bare as the bear you mentioned is of the animal variety? anyways onto the subject of DX12 I guess its down to what games you actually play, I only play like 5 or 6 games and out of those half have good DX12 support (I do like me some lara Croft) but yea Spakes is right - your millage may vary!
  19. or get a cheap atx tower and screw in some new motherboard stand offs and remove any drive cages that might be in the way.
  20. I picked up a couple of rx580's just before xmas for about 120gbp for the pair!!! a bargin... got em in and crossfired them! performance for pennies!
