As the title suggests, I recently purchased an Acer XF250Q. I was in the market for new monitors after two of my ~10yr old Asus vh226h died.
After using the XF250Q for over 2 weeks, I just don't feel happy with it. I've spent hours adjusting colors and they dont feel great, the brightness feels overwhelming sometimes, while darks feel impossible to see in other instances. I feel like my eyes have been more strained as well. The only part I do like is the build quality and frame-less form factor.
I want to try something else before I commit to buying more for my 3 monitor set-up, but am not sure what else to get. I'm currently using an Acer R240HY that I had on another setup, a lower end monitor that honestly looks nicer - I'm guessing because it is IPS. But I am willing to spend a bit more for better performance, if it is actually warranted.
I want something in the 21"-25". No larger, as I like to sit close and find large screens to be too much. I also used to play competitive FPS and like to be able to view the whole field of vision without having to actually look around at different parts of the monitor.
I did ideally want to move to 144Hz, but find myself wondering if its worth it for me. I never had issue with my old 60Hz monitors, and largely play WoW/do office work these days. I do very much like the frameless form factors, so am trying to find something that features this as well. I debated 1440p as well, but that isnt as important to me as quality of the screen.
I am running all this off of a GTX 1070ti, and an i7-4770k. I do have concerns that I wouldnt be able to push 3x 1440p monitors with this.
For options, I am considering the following:
Acer R240HY
Asus VC239H
BenQ GW2480
Dell P2418D
Dell U2518D
Dell U2417H
Or am I wrong to write off TN panels and the Acer I have just has particularly bad settings? Or does someone out there have settings that will save this monitor -- I've searched and tried different suggestions to no avail.
Any help with be so greatly appreciated. I just want a solid monitor experience again.
