  2. for your first, yeah the distilled water is fine. plus buy enough for a rinse/flush for

the radiators. a biocide would be nice to fight fuzzy growths in the loop or a kill

coil since no nickel is in the loop.

    fans?

    airdeano

Don't know what biocide/kill coil/nickel means? Do you have a link for info on that?

For fans, I have a bunch of Gentle Typhoon 2150 that I got a while back that I ended up not using.  Those should be fine?

  3. Personaly i would ditch the reservoir to and get a d5 top bay res d5 top will increase pump performance also, but yeah looks like you got everything right.

I checked this option out, but I don't have room for a dual bay res, otherwise I would've. Thanks for the suggestion.

I assume you already have coolant or are getting it somewhere else :P

Do i need coolant? Can I just go to local grocery store and buy distilled water?

  5. Was messing around with Youtube APIs and this is the result.  Not sure how useful

    Alphabetically sorted by Brand:

  6. I would argue that it isn't.

It all comes down to the fact that people want free stuff from a company because they buy thier products.

Do you feel entitled to a free burger because you have gone to Burger King 10 times? Do you feel you should have better service because you have been there 10 times? That's taken out of context a lot but its the same logic.

    Actually, yes. I do.

It's odd you mention Burger King because there is Burger King right next to my work where I am regular customer, but if they were to get my order wrong or give me bad food, I'd go up and ask them for a new one, and I'd expect them to give me it.  Why? Because I go there multiple times a week, and know a few of the employees on a first name basis.  They would understand that I didn't just take a few bits out of my burger, then ask for another one just for free food.

This has actually happened once before at Burger King.  I'm pretty groggy at the mornings, but I remember ordering a Sausage Biscuit on their breakfast menu, and ended up with a Sasuage Crossiant instead.  I take a couple bites before I realize, then go up to the front and ask them.  The employee, Kevin, remembered my order, realized the mistake, apologized multiple times, and went and got me a biscuit instead.

Food places are actually probably a bad argument because they almost always give you *replacements* because unlike computer hardware, they have a lot more competition for your dollar.  Even if you do something obviously your fault like drop your food on the ground, I've yet been to one restaurant that wouldn't go and get you a new one, even if it was half eaten already.

  7. My recommendations:

Change your power supply from CX750 to CX750M, $4 price difference for some modular connections.

Your video card choices, assuming GTX 760 with aftermarket cooler, are all pretty much the same price from all manufacturers.

Choose between Gigabyte Windforce, EVGA ACX, Asus Direct CUII, MSI Twin Frozr.  Personally, I think at this point it comes down to preference in aesthetics, and I would go with EVGA ACX.

For aftermarket CPU cooler, it depends on your budget, and whether you want to get high overclocks or silent performance.

Here is a list of CPU coolers that I've have had used/experienced and would recommend (from cheapest to most expensive)

    Hyper 212 (EVO) $30

    Xigmateck Dark Knight $50

    Noctua NHD14 $70

Then you get to AIO coolers

From reviews, I'd say Swiftech H220 and Kraken X60 are your best bets.

  9. Mionix Naos 3200.  It has black with 3 LED colors, red is one of the them.

Comes with mousepad on newegg (may actually be sold out though)

    For $30

Very nice shape for palm mouse.  Only 3200 DPI, but nobody actually needs that much.  Its the mouse I use.

  10. I don't think your warranty should be treated differently if you are a "fan boy".

Sure, they can send you gifts if you are but not treat you differently as a customer.

I'm not trying to say it is like preferential treatment to fan boys.

I'm trying to make the argument that because you bought a lot of stuff from them, it is less likely that you are trying to take advantage of the warranty and trying to game the system.

  11. Yeah fair enough i guess.

The forum is actually really good. There are a couple of guys that will reply to your RMA request/questions within a day.

Yeah next time I'll be sure to ask anything I'm unsure of to their forums or try everything I can to get a human answer to my question.

This only happened because I assumed that the worst case scenario for not shipping my fans to them was that they would "open" the box and take out the fans that I already had before shipping.  I never expected them to ask me to ship the fans before accepting the RMA.

  12. TBH you screwed up in not sending them the fans in the first place, then again in sending them the wrong fans. Chances are they are going to send you a new unit, the way you'd buy it from a shop. The fans aren't accessories, they are part of the product, you can't use them without it (unless you buy other fans of course). I didn't keep my PSU cables (or zip ties for that matter) when I needed to RMA it.

I've RMA'd with Corsair before and it took about a week from requesting RMA on their forum to getting the replacement.

    Anyway, to the question.

I don't think how much money you've given a company should mean you get preferential treatment. If you've bought something and it's happened to go bad you should just be thrown on a waiting list like anyone else, no matter how much it cost. If I buy 10 things from 'XYZ' it's not because I'm being loyal, it's because I like their product.

I can understand what your coming from, but they make zero mention of it anywhere on their warranty policy, which I read over multiple times.  I decided not to ship the fans because I did not want them to not give me fans back.  For example, here is XFX's RMA Policy:

Only the faulty item is required. Please do not send any accessories (including games,

cables, manuals, etc.) originally supplied with the product. Such items and the package
used to ship the product in are recycled and will not be returned. All replacements are
sent in non-retail packaging with only the product included. This includes modular
power cables for power supplies, only the core PSU unit is needed.

If Corsair did something similar, which I have no way of knowing because they have no form of viable support communication, then I would end up with no fans.

I don't consider posting on their forums and hoping an employee sees it as a viable form of communication.

Another thing that seems to be comparable: If you had to RMA your CPU, do you think Intel would be asking for your stock cooler?

  13. ???

The AX860 and AX860i use the same cable sleeving kit.  They use different 24-pins, but both are the same price.

The older AX Gold Series PSUs (AX1200, AX850, AX750) have a different cable kit.  Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

    Yes this. Sorry. My bad.

  14. This is one of those topics that review sites or videos never actually mention.  It is also something I'm amazed that more people don't care about until it happens to them.  This is one of the reasons why I still buy iPhone over the mostly superior Android.  Because of AppleCare, and physical stores that will on-the-stop fix/exchange your iPhone.

I'd say try to get a hold of Samsung support to get it properly fixed, otherwise, you are kind of just boned.  If boned, I'd recommend not spending your money on Samsung anymore.

You can try saying something about reporting to the BBB and they might take you more serious (this may be useless advice if you are outside US, not sure).

  15. The way i see it is motherboard features are the 3rd most important thing.

More important is reliability and support.  Anybody whose had to RMA a motherboard understand how important support is, and also understand how important reliability is so that they won't have to experience it again.

So if you have had good experience with EVGA, then by all means, stick to them.

  16. If you can get your hands on Windows 8 (through Dreamspark or otherwise), after you get your build set up, you should consider upgrading to Windows 8.  You can download a start button thing if you can't live without it.

Why? Ultra-Fast-Boot.  Z77 and up motherboards support it, and it is amazing.  6-8 second cold boots off an SSD.
