  1. Thanks for the response and covering each question. Genuinely appreciate it. I've decided to stick with a dual monitor. It does seem to make more sense for my overly multitasking self lol. Perhaps in the future UW will have more flexibility to make the change really worth it.
  2. Based on responses and what I've been reading I think I'll skip the UW and stick to my standard DS for now. Plus after seeing LTT do review of the new Alienware 4k monitor... I'm thinking I might go with that. Its easily leaps and bounds ahead of this current one I'm using. It was AMAZING 6 years ago, but its showing its age against more refined 4k monitors. Thanks for the input everyone
  3. Unfortunately they were out of warranty by several months. If I had contacted them when the issue started they would have replaced them. The biggest issue is the slow warranty services and lack of communication. But having known malfunctioning hardware and not directly contacting those who purchased them (as much as is possible with 3rd party sellers) seems like a lapse as well. Not to the extent other companies have gone at least.
  4. As a VERY late reply it took multiple messages and about a month to get a response. Once they did reply they told me they closed the warranty claim because it was out of the warranty period (by about 4 months). I asked why I wasn't notified, and they said their team made a mistake and apologized. Honestly, I'm doubting whether or not I'll buy from them again. A bad warranty experience really leaves a bad overall feeling. The Secret Shopper series really highlights the issues a lot of companies (any and all companies) can potentially have.
  5. Follow Up question: If you run an Ultrawide what kind of monitor arm are you using? I'll end up having to replace mine.
  6. My primary display is starting to die. It works fine then randomly flickers, goes blank, etc. Before it dies completely I want to get a new monitor. I'm currently running a dual monitor setup, but I'm looking for some input from those who have used both ultrawide and dual monitors. 1: Can you run an ultrawide like a dual monitor setup? For example: I've got Youtube, Floatplane, Netflix, or w/e else on the second screen while gaming on the main one. Can I split an ultrawide down the middle (or into thirds) so I can still do this? 2: Performance hit or bonus? I'm running a 4080 Super, but I live in California where electricity cost is insane. Has anyone noticed a difference in power draw and/or FPS for dual monitors vs Ultrawide while using it in situations like Question 1? 3: If you've gone from Dual Monitors to Ultrawide what has your personal experience been? Positives and negatives. 4: If you run an Ultrawide setup and have used multiple Ultrawide monitors what is something you've learned to watch out for? Any Surprises? Thanks for anyone who reads and responds!
  7. The card is under warranty, he asked for the warranty information so he could send it in. He hasn't asked for his money back. I'm clarifying the power state with him. Whether it was in sleep mode or awake. I had assumed it was awake.
  8. The title isn't click bait (unfortunately). I sold my EVGA 3080ti to a coworker recently. He's had it for about a week and a half. It's been running without any problems until last night. He said around midnight he woke up "the card literally started screaming, woke up everyone in the house, louder than any TV I've ever had at full blast". I have never heard of this happening. I'm not sure if he might have had a power surge that freaked out his system, or if it's something else entirely different. He said he restarted the computer and it's no longer doing it. I'm at a loss though on whether it could actually be the GPU doing it or something else. The warranty on the card is still good until June at least. I'd appreciate some help in troubleshooting or where to go from here to figure out the cause. I don't want to send the card into EVGA if it isn't the card doing it.
  9. I used to run a 4790k myself. The stock cooler can't keep up (couldn't launch Fallout 4 without my PC shutting down). The cooler you linked will do great for it though.
  10. I'm in the US. California to be more specific. I'm more concerned that they haven't contacted me to verify any details or to say yes/no to the warranty.
  11. I ordered the original Lian Li Unifan when I finally found them in stock after they launched. Now two of them are having significant degradation in the RGB. I have them set to a Static Blue. One of the fans has multiple nodes that have failed so there is gaps in the RGB. They other will flicker or rapidly flash between red and blue. I submitted a warranty claim including a video of the issue. It's been two weeks and I have only received the initial response that my warranty claim was received. This is apparently a known issue with the fans. Has anyone else had long delays working with Lian Li warranties? I'm at a loss of what to do if they don't respond.
  12. I've spoken to them, but after multiple keyboards failing I don't want to continue the replacement process. Really disappointed overall.
  13. Honestly, this is probably going down that route as well. EVGA has always been a great company, even with their recent falling out with Nvidia. Just really disappointed in the quality of the keyboard. I'll check out the FTC site and see if there's any help there.
  14. Direct from EVGA. Their keyboard selection is very limited. Its hard to want to risk a different model if the model I had was having so many issues. I've already bought a replacement keyboard, but I'm trying to get my money back at least.
  15. I'm in the US, and I'm not just going to take a product that keeps failing and resell it to someone else. I have a little more decency than that.
  16. Its an EVGA Keyboard. They are offering to replace it (again), but I can't keep having a keyboard replaced just to fail after a couple months again. The keyboard freezes and shuts itself off. Its wired in, but something about it is causing it to die while in use. A few other issues with it as well, but basically the keyboard is unreliable and I can't have it fail when I'm in the middle of something.
  17. I need some help here. I'm dealing with a warranty issue where they are refusing to refund a purchase after multiple replacements. The lemon laws I'm seeing are in regards to them having to provide replacement parts, repairs, etc. But I can't find anything that specifically talks about refunding a product. The warranty from this manufacturer states that a product can only be returned for a refund within 14 days. However this product will work great for a couple months, then fail. Replacement comes in, and the same thing happens. Since it doesn't fail until a couple months in the 14 day refund window has long since closed. If anyone can help guide me to lemon laws that refer to refunds I'd be really appreciative!
  18. When I refer to gaming and and typing there are some specific aspects to this. One of the most importing aspects is being able to have multiple buttons register at once. Running, strafing, shooting, jumping, etc. Some keyboards will not handle more than a few simultaneous keystrokes and will stop registering. So there are keyboards that would be fantastic to type on, but horrible for gaming. Durability also comes into play when gaming. Sitting there mashing keys as fast as I can as part of a game mechanic. Not thinking about how hard the keys are being pressed, but rapid and hard presses can cause damage to keyboards not designed for it. Then obviously for typing, I need something that is comfortable to type on for long periods of time. Whether that's key spacing, firmness/resistance when pressing the keys, actuating at a comfortable level and returning to position quickly enough so you can type the next word. Really important for fast typists. So really, I just need a multi-purpose keyboard. Though, I do understand where you're coming from in regards to some marketing terms that are baseless around keyboard functionality. Really, any marketing with any product though. I did end up going with the K70 from Corsair. The key presses are taking a little to get used to. There's a lot of travel and I tend to bottom out the keys when typing out of habit, so its a little more work than some others. It is comfortable though and feels great to type/game on.
  19. I bought the EVGA Z20 when it came out originally. Since buying it, I've had nothing but issues even after doing an RMA. The keyboard works great for a few months, then the keyboard will freeze while typing and shut itself off. The only way to get it to work again is to reach behind my computer to unplug the USB cables and plug them back in. I've used different USB ports to see if it was an issue with the ports, but it still does the same thing. After doing my last RMA I received what I "think" is a refurbished version, except this one has squeaky keys and keys that get stuck when pressing them. It is also having the same issues as the original one. TLDR: This keyboard has sadly been junk. Does anyone have good recommendations for mechanical keyboards used for gaming and typing? I'm going through videos from LTT but there's a lot to go through. There aren't any reviews that take place after months of use either, so I'm looking for first hand recommendations from keyboards that have weathered use and still perform great.
  20. If you smell burning ANYTHING shut the whole thing down and unplug the power supply. Start inspecting everything. Every cable, every component, everything. A burning smell is a major sign that something is going wrong. This could very possibly lead to a fire that at its best will destroy everything in your PC and at worst burn your home down with people inside of it. A burning smell is serious, do not ignore that.
  21. I'm running a 5900X and 3080ti. I have issues with framerates if I don't set it to full screen. My framerate for whatever reason just tanks if its set to bordered or windowed. Drop the 32 chunks as well. Drop it to 16 chunks and see what happens.
  22. The EVGA power supply shouldn't have any trouble handling those power requirements. While you were running with the Gigabyte PSU did you ever have any crashes, or other unexpected shut downs? Knowing their track record there could possibly be some hardware issues caused by it. ***Edit*** Saw you said you had issues with the Gigabyte PSU. So it could be the culprit, but not the guaranteed issue. The second thing I'd look at, I'd reseat the GPU and double check power connections. I say this because I had similar issues after cleaning my PC years ago and reseating the GPU fixed it. While swapping the PSU something may have been slightly offset. You said temps look good, but I know when I'm gaming I'm not always keeping an eye on the temps as close as I could. Grab some benchmarking software and keep an eye on the temps, power spikes/drops, etc and see if anything pops up. As a follow up, what's your cooler, case, and fan setup? Temps could be stead until hit with a load and overwhelm your cooling for the 5600X. Not a hot CPU, but could always be the culprit. If all that looks good, give reformatting a shot. System might just need a fresh start.
  23. Same with what BiotechBen was saying. Potentially between the 3800X and the 3080 OC version you're tripping the OCP/OPP. If you have a second monitor pull up HWinfo64 and watch whats going on between power and heat. Depending on your case you might have temps going too high as well. So just keep an eye on both.
  24. First, the parts I'm using that I think could potentially be the cause: EVGA Z20 Keyboard Gigabyte X570 AORUS Master Motherboard Ryzen 5900X Windows 10 Keyboard is hard wired in. Occasionally while typing the RGB will shut off and the keyboard will stop responding. 9/10 times the keyboard will turn back on after 10 seconds and start working again. 1/10 times it will stay off until I unplug the USB cables from the motherboard and plug them back in. Occasionally while the PC is shut down I'll see my keyboard light up and flash once then turn back off. This has happened a few times while the PC was powered down. Usually in the middle of the night. I contacted EVGA and they told me to plug it into a known good USB port. The thing is all the USB ports work, its just the keyboard will occasionally disconnect. I added more RAM about a month before this issue started happening, but no other parts have been moved/changed/removed/added/etc. It can go days, or even a week without an issue, then it happens out of the blue. I'm at a loss as to what the cause could be or how to track it down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  25. More than likely they did a refresh of the product and kept the name. In the specs listed there it still states 28.8 pounds. And having it right here I can tell you its much more than 12 pounds.
