Hello, I have a PC that I build back in 2015 and have slowly been upgrading over the years. The only parts that have been left the same are the CPU and Motherboard, and I feel like it's time to upgrade these as well. I upgraded my GPU last year, just before the huge price increase and noticed that in a lot of games I was being limited massively by my CPU. Seeing a CPU usage of over 90% is very normal at almost everything I do nowadays. So I went looking around to see what is available to upgrade to. Of course when I upgrade my CPU I will also have the upgrade my Motherboard and that is what is the most difficult for me to choose and I would like some advice on. I am not looking for anything crazy in a motherboard, but I would like to be able to overclock my CPU, so an Intel Z or AMD X board would be preferred. I also don't need WiFI. For the memory I currently have 32GB of DDR4, which I think is fine for my usecase, so I don't think an upgrade to DDR5 would be worth it yet, as these seem to be fairly expensive still, but if someone can show me otherwise why not . Lastly I have a PCIe 3.0 M.2 NVMe SSD as my boot drive and it would be nice to be able to upgrade this to a PCIe 4/5 later, so a motherboard that supports that would be nice as well. I don't have a preference perse between AMD or Intel, but I've always had Intel and it has been running well for the past 7 years, even overclocked by almost 20% since 2016 or so. As for motherboard manifacturer I have mostly had ASUS and MSI, which have been very good always, I think their BIOS's are very nice to work in. I have had trouble with Gigabyte (both a Motherboard and a GPU were doing weird out of the box) when building a PC for a friend, so I don't know if I want that . As well as AsRock always seemed to be kinda budget, but maybe I'm wrong . This what I've already been looking at: (only intel) - Intel 12700K(F?) = €450 - MSI MPG Z690 EDGE WIFI DDR4 = €330 - MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 = €290 - ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4 = €280 - ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 = €270 All motherboards seem to have WiFI, which I don't really need, so if anyone knows if they are availabe without for cheaper that would be nice . Thanks in advance for the help! Cheers, Iwan
  2. Yeah it's also because the prices here are at least 50 USD more if you compare it to prices in the USA, and pcpartpicker lists the RAM you put on there for way too much, if compared to similar RAM. The RAM I currently have is also the type made for Intel and not the 'Z' type Corsair makes specifically for AMD, so I will probally be going with Intel so I don't have to buy new RAM. Thanks for the tips on the WD SDD's, am probally gonna buy one of those as well when getting the new CPU and motherboard.
  3. Thanks for the response! Some great tips I can definitely work with! The pcpartpicker list looks good, altough I don't think I'll need the RAM as I already have 32Gb of 3200Mhz CL16. Which is good as translating the prices to my region brings it up to €800 with the RAM, but without to €670. The WD SDD looks good value for money indeed, I'll keep that in mind as well! Also thanks for the tip for the retrofit kit, I didn't even think of that.
  4. Hi, I currently have a pc that I upgraded bit by bit since I build it back in 2015, but the only parts I haven't upgraded are the CPU and motherboard. And now I'm looking to upgrade those parts, but am not sure what to go with. Here is my current build: CPU: Intel I7 6700k Cooler: Corsair H115i RGB PRO XT Motherboard: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 4x8Gb (32Gb) 3200Mhz CL16 GPU: ASUS TUF 3080 OC 10Gb PSU: Corsair RM850x Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow Boot SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500Gb NVMe M.2 I want to change out my CPU to get a more fluent gaming experience and PC experience overal. My CPU is capped at 100% usage in almost every game I play, while my GPU is only running at 50% usage. I have already looked around and was thinking about maybe either the Intel I7 12700k or the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, with ofcourse a new motherboard to go with the socket. For motherboard I don't want it to be a cheap model that is very bare-bones, but I don't need an over-the-top crazy motherboard either. Preferably a Z or X board so that I have some future-proofing to maybe overclock later. I don't have a preference for Intel or AMD. At last I would like to upgrade my boot SSD later as well to maybe a PCI-e 4.0 one down the line, so a motherboard with support for that would be nice as well. My budget is around €600 - €700 (€400 CPU + €200 - €300 motherboard) Also I have seen videos and articles about new upcoming 13th gen Intel CPU's and new AMD CPU's with a new AM5 socket, so maybe I should wait for them to come out? I'm not in a rush, my computer still works fine. I hope someone has some tips for me on which direction I should go to get the best performance within my budget! Thanks in advance!
  5. Hi thanks for your response! 2 others also came to the conclusion that the current setup is fine so I'm gonna keep it this way, thanks for your help!
  6. Thanks for your reply! The 3 at the front and the one at the back are all Corsair SP120s. They seem to be pretty ok fans, maybe not very quiet but I don't mind that as I always have a headset on. I think I'm gonna keep the fans the way they are now!
  7. Thanks for your response! I think I'm gonna keep it the way they are now then as someone else also said that how they are now is probably fine.
  8. Hi, I have a question about my computer cooling and how I should align my fans for best cooling. Here is a quick drawing of how my pc looks now and how I have it set up: The way I have it right now gives me the idea the AIO is not really doing it's work because it is pulling hot air through the radiator from inside the case, but if I turn them around I feel like the pressure will be to high in the case as then there is only 1 fan blowing outwards at the back. Hopefully anyone can help me and have some tips for me on how to do this! Thanks!
  9. I plugged it in the CPU_FAN header, should be the right one right? I use the CPU_OPT for the fan at the back of my pc, but that was always like that.
  10. Hi, I just bought a new case because my old one was too small for my new 3080 to fit inside. I started by taking everything out of the old case and putting it aside gently, after that I put everything in the new case. After turning it on and happy that it booted I was greeted with the message from my ASUS motherboard: "CPU FAN ERROR". So I looked inside the case and saw the fans spinning on my Corsair H100i V2 AIO so was confused for a second, but when it send me to the BIOS I immediately saw that my CPU temps were rising with 3 degrees Celsius every second, so I came to the conclusion I must be my pump... I checked all cables, which were all fine. I then also took it off and put it on again to see if any thing would change, but no luck. I also took everything out of the case and only had the motherboard, ram, CPU, AIO cooler and of course the PSU to check if maybe it would work then, but also no luck.. Anyone have any ideas what could be the issue? Because I don't have another cooler to use and ordering a new one would mean I have to wait 3 days, and thus cannot check if it might be some other issue... Here are all of my specs: i7 6700k @ 4.0 GHz ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming ASUS TUF Gaming OC 3080 Corsair H100i V2 AIO cooler Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3200Mhz 1x Samsung 970 Evo 500GB 1x Samsung 860 Evo 1TB 1x Seagate Barracuda 2TB Corsair 5000D case I hope someone could help! Would be much appreciated! Thanks, Iwan
  11. So maybe it could work if I bought the 8gb varient of the 2400Hmz C15?
  12. Thanks for your response! Do you think it is worth it to buy 2 new 4gb sticks then, for 20 euros extra so I have quad channel? Or do you think I won't notice a difference without dual channel and I should just save the 20 euros and only buy the one stick?
  13. Hi there, I have been running into memory problems lately trying to play games and was wondering if I could upgrade it without spending too much money. I currently have 2 HyperX Fury 2400Mhz C15 kits in my pc of each 4Gb, for a total of 8Gb. These are ofcourse running in dual channel mode. Now I was wondering if I could buy another 4Gb 2400Mhz C15 stick and add it to the already existing 8Gb and still have the onces in the A2 and B2 slots run in dual channel. I know this is a thing with some motherboards, but couldn't find anything on it for the MSI b250 pc mate. Maybe someone has expierence with this motherboard and could help me out? Would be much appreciated! PC specs: - I5 7400 - MSI B250 PC Mate - 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Fury 2400Mhz - MSI 1050Ti
  14. And in the boot menu it has the third disk on top???
  15. Okay I checked and the weird thing here is that you can see my 3 SATA drives that are connected correctly but not the m.2 (prob. how it should be tho), but at the boot priority there are only 2 disks, the m.2 disk and my shitty 300gb hard drive. Where are the other 2 disks? I know it doesn't really matter as long as the m.2 is there. But im still curious.
  16. Hi there, I just bought a Samsung 970 Evo plus 500gb NVMe m.2 SSD for my pc. I wanted to replace this with my old SATA m.2 so I had to reinstall windows. While at it I also clean wiped all of my other disks. I have a Asus z170-pro gaming motherboard with only 1 m.2 slot. Now I know that when you have a SATA m.2 connected the SATA 1 port gets disabled, so in my old config i wasn't using either of the SATA express slots (slot 1 and 2) an it worked fine. Now that I connected my new NVMe m.2 I put my other disks in order in the SATA slots, also using 1 and 2. This is working fine because an NVMe m.2 goes through PCIE and not SATA. Now the problem I'm having is that when all disks are disconnected, except for the m.2 it shows up as disk 0 if I look in disk management. But when all my disks are connected it shows up as disk 3?? (see screenshot) (Disk 3 here is my 500 GB m.2, the disk 0 is my other Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB SATA SSD, here connected to slot 1) Is this a problem? Or is it working fine? I also had to manually set the other partitions for the other disks as I couldn't right-click and click 'New Simple Volume'. I would really appreciate the help! Maybe I have to change some BIOS settings? Or some cmd magic? I hope to see a response! Thanks, Iwan
  17. Thanks for the help! I've ordered the Seasonic Focus GX-650 in the end. It's also 140mm in depth and offers more cable management options for me because it's full-modular!
  18. Thanks! This one looks good, i'll save this one while I look a bit further!
  19. I'm afraid this is not possible as I have a triple fan ROG STRIX GPU which is the entire length of the case.. So there is no room for a hdd bay anywhere.
  20. Hi, I've recently bought the new Corsair 220T case and absolutely love it! There is just one major problem. My PSU is a Tacens Valeo V 700W which is to my knowledge a standard sized ATX PSU (Height: 86mm Width: 150mm Depth: 158mm). The 220T is an ATX case, but a very compact one, all of my components fit in there perfectly. Underneath the PSU shroud is ofcourse room for a PSU but also a hdd mounting rack (which i'm using). In between the 2 there is very little space left for cables, forcing me to really push and squeeze the cables in just to fit them, to the point I had to route my 24pin connector through the front of the case because I just couldtn't get is past the mess of SATA-power cables. I've also already found out I could move the hdd rack forward a bit but that didn't help much. Now I was hoping that someone might have an idea for a power supply that is ATX sized, so same height and width. But has less depth to it. I've been looking around and only found PSU that are ITX format and would require adapters to work.. Which i'm not really looking forward to use. So if anyone can tell me an ATX PSU thats is smaller in depth that would be much appreciated! Regards, - Iwan
  21. I needed to reinstall the Display Drivers entirely because after the BSOD i couldnt right click on my desktop anymore. It froze for a second and then reloaded my desktop. Now it looks like it's fixed. But I still see very low values being used by the GPu although Im running GPU heavy games. Maybe this is supposed to be like this idk?
  22. I Totally Agree With You. This Is Very Annoying.
  23. I got a bluescreen when installing the latest Nvidia Geforce Drivers... Any ideas on that? seems like they did install but it just bluescreened once it was done..
  24. yes I have. And saw there was another one just released. Will try to download and install that one. Maybe it will fix it.
  25. Hi i've a question about my GPU usage. I was playing some games and realized some stutters that I've naver had before. Frames would drop to 40fps while last week and before I got 100+ and almost never any drops, certainly not as low as 40. Now then I looked at my task manager and saw this: Only 1.7Gb of dedicated GPU memory is being used from the 6gb I have. While it is running on 90%+ usage. Is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong here. I have quite a bit of knowledge about computers, but have never really looked into GPU's and such. Only the recommended OC that I can select from GPU Tweak-II the gpu drivers from ASUS. I hope someone can help me with this. Would be much appriciated! - IJuan
