Oof im not so sure about that, i checked my Windows Update logs and three months ago a "Lenovo Firmware 1.0.0.17" was installed, maybe that was the root cause and it took this long for me to notice it since i didnt have any reason to change the settings :S. Nevertheless ive contacted Argotronic support about this and hopefully they can ID a fix on their end if its really caused by that. Thanks for your help in narrowing it down

Wow we posted at the same time . Yeah i guess your right. but i havent upgraded the board or bios at all manually. Do you know if OEM manufacturers can sneak stuff like that via Win Update?

Ah dammit i just realized that I CAN control GPU fan speeds with Argus... it seems to point that something is wrong with Argus interfacing with the motherboard chipset.. maybe Lenovo sneaked in something nasty via Windows update...

This is a prebuilt Lenovo Pc... so i guess some Foxconn cheapo stuff However the fans should be controllable since they were fully a year ago.

currently i literarily have the stock controls, all on bios controlled, but i can fiddle with them as much as i want and nothing happens theres two images here kinda sandwitched, the botttom one shows them all at default and the long one shows what happens when i max one of them... which is nothing

Hi! First off, im terribly sorry if i put this in the wrong category, im hoping as this is a fan control program it counts as a cooling topic. So, ive been using Argus monitor to control my PC fans for the last year, and all has been fine and good. However, after recently trying to change the fan curves ive realized that all the settings on the program do nothing. It seems to still remember my old fan curves but they appear to be locked in place permanently. Ive done the usual, restart pc, uninstall reinstall etc. I wiped the entire registery key folder and it did the trick in removing the old fan curves, however now theres NO fan control ability whatsoever. Im just wondering has anyone experienced this? Thanks so much for any answers :)

I was afraid it was going to be that Would it cause the fan to die early or is it just a noise hazard?

This is a new Lenovo prebuilt with a RTX 2060. You can hear its the fans doing that on the recording as i change the fan speed on Afterburner. It wasn't like this when i bought it a month ago, it started about 7 days ago. Is this something that i should go complain about or does it fall in the "normal" range? thanks in advance for any help GPUNOISE.mp3

I raised the fan curve somewhat but it didnt really have that much of a difference. About the throttling IF it happens its minimal and doesnt affect the performance noticeably. I was just worried that is it supposed to do that and dance around the temp limit or is it dangerous

It says that its hitting the temp limit so i assume so. The reason why im kinda squeamish about the temps is that it says that the max operating temp is 89c and it feels abit close for comfort.

Hello guys/gals I recently bought a prebuilt Lenovo tower with a rtx 2060 and as the title says, if i max the card (Real load, not synthetic) it climbs to 83c very quickly and starts throttling i assume. Are the newer gpus supposed to hit that when maxed or is it just bad cooling on Lenovos part? If so, do i run a risk of damaging the card at that temp? edit: The idle temps are around 35 ish max if that helps

Sadly i don't have any direct measurements from the pins but i'm sure its just a normal 12v header. Its just the fact that the HP bios is absolute crap and probably feeds just enough voltage to the fans that the original Foxconn fan required. I tried using a 12v Noctua fan that i had lying around and it refused to spin at start, but i could ramp it up very high with Speedfan when booted so that's also another reason why i think its a normal 12v one. I cant really connect it directly to the psu since the bios requires a confirmation prompt if it does not detect a case fan from the header, and as a headless server its something that isn't really optimal. edit: also being a HP bios you cant change any fan settings or auto override the warning from the bios setup.

Thanks for the recommendation, but i'm like 99% sure the original Foxconn fan was also a 12v one and i'm afraid the mobo might break that one if it ramps the volts too high If the Noctua warning about that is realistic i mean

Hello guys/gals As the title says i'm in search of a low starting voltage 92mm fan to replace a broken one on a prebuilt machine from HP. There is a 3pin fan header on the motherboard and its apparently voltage controlled for speed. Low starting voltage is required since the motherboard gives out very low power on boot and if the fan does not spin the bios freaks out as it decides there is no fan connected at all. Also thermal performance isn't that super important here since it is running as a headless server with low load, but quietness is very much appreciated. My thanks beforehand for any suggestions :)

So my admittedly quite old GTX 770 started ramping up its fans to max during the last two days or so. The temps seem fine, hovering around 30c when idle and reaching a maximum of 70c when gaming. Weirdly enough the problem is very sporadic, and i haven't been able to nail down the trigger that causes it to switch to "turbo" mode. Its also acts very weirdly when its having the issue, returning to normal fanspeed for a couple of seconds and then back again to full, sometimes it does for upwards of 20 times. Anyway, i have tried: Reseating the card, multiple times, no effect Trying to control the fans via Afterburner, but it has no effect when the "turbo" starts, it seems to override Afterburner. Reinstall drivers, removed them with DDU, no effect. Did the most thorough cleaning of a GPU i have ever done. (didn't take it as far as taking it apart though) Sometimes i can get it to quiet down by really stressing the card with Furmark or something similar, but not always, honestly it might just be a placebo. Id rather not want to buy a new card or at this point a new PC, since i can live with the performance of a GTX 770, but i fear that it might be ahead of me :S Any ideas for some solutions i can try?

I have tried with CBR and VBR settings, neither helped that much, with CBR the bitrate is as expected and with VBR its variable as its probably supposed to be. Thats actually a good idea, i might even have some adapters stashed somewhere in the house. That sadly might be true :S, if i cant get it to work does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement? I live in a PAL region if that matters (Considering the DVR fails to display the cameras if i change it to NTSC)

Hello Guys/Gals I need some troubleshooting help with my parents DVR occasionally skipping minutes in saved recordings. The DVR in question sadly is not a very high quality one, being a cheap Xiongmai DVR that came with a combo package of 4 cameras. What i have tried/Info I have tried 2 hard drives, a WD Purple 1TB specifically bought for it, and an old WD Blue 1TB, both of them still exhibited MAJOR responsiveness issues, although as expected the Blue was absolutely horrible to use. Reboot/reset/restart Checked connections (The cameras themselves appear to work fine, since in the TV preview they work completely smoothly.) Lowered the quality to its absolute minimum (helped with responsiveness, though still not ideal, and still sadly skipping) Streamed the cameras through RTSP via the DVR to my computer while stopping all recording on the DVR. (They work perfectly, and considering the DVR has to encode to send it over via RTSP it further seems like an Hard drive issue) So, my question is that could it be possible that an SSD might fix it? As it seems that the HDD is getting overwhelmed somehow and stops responding.
