That watermark is there because you're using an Insider Build of Windows. The only way to remove it is to go back to a main release, not a beta version.

Alright I'll just google how to do that rq. Thanks man!

Hey so I'm thinking Abt buliding a new pc and I'm not quite sure what parts would be the best for mey budget is 1,500 and some change my friend bulit a PC on PC part picker and I wanted see if y'all could check it out and give me some feed back thank you Soo much

To me, everything looks good Can't comment on the case though. Only reccomendation would be if you could try and fit in an Nvme drive in, because it would be faster than the crucial you are using right now.

Could be the format of the drive, or etcher I have had issues with in the past. Have you tried another USB / another flashing software? I would recommend Rufus or YUMI.

Currently I am on Linux and Rufus doesn't work on Solus for me, even with Wine. I'll try Yumi. How would I change the format of the driive?

Edit: I tried turning off secure boot and turned on legacy support. Now it's detected, but when I boot into it, it just shows some text, then the lenovo logo, and then boots into Linux again.

Edit 2: I am reflashing it onto the same drive using WoeUSB. I will boot up again and report back with results.

    1. Make backup.

    2. Shrink partition

    3. Install windows and hope the bootloads are happy, if not, setup grub.

I don't really care about saving data on Linux, I am just doing this for my dad, since he is going to use this computer and he doesn't really like linux. So after I shrink the partition, would I go back into BIOS and load into my hard drive again? And if the bootloads aren't happy, how would I setup GRUB?

  5. So, I returned my surface pro 7 due to bugs. I got $850 US dollars back. What laptop would you recommend that doesn't pass $850? I will use mainly for school. I will rate what is most important for me to what is least important:

    1. Keyboard
    2. Specs (must be 10th gen i5 or higher, at least 8gb ram and 128gb SSD)
    3. Trackpad
    4. Weight
    5. Touchpad
    6. Thinness
    7. Ports
    8. OS

What are your suggestions? I can use Costco and Amazon.

    Let's try this then

Close any application that you may be running, and then do the following:

    1. Open CMD as administrator

    2. Type the following command to navigate to the icon cache database location and press Enter:

    cd %homepath%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

    3. Type the following command to verify the icon cache database files are at the location and press Enter:

     dir iconcache*

    4. The output of the dir command should list these database files:

      Hide contents

    iconcache_1280.db
    iconcache_16.db
    iconcache_1920.db
    iconcache_256.db
    iconcache_2560.db
    iconcache_32.db
    iconcache_48.db
    iconcache_768.db
    iconcache_96.db
    iconcache_custom_stream.db
    iconcache_exif.db
    iconcache_idx.db
    iconcache_sr.db
    iconcache_wide.db
    iconcache_wide_alternate.db

    iconcache.PNG.e69f9018e0d3b5393f5bcacf6a34a8fd.PNG

    5. Type the following command to stop File Explorer and press Enter:

    taskkill /f /im explorer.exe

Note: Once you terminate File Explorer, your desktop background and taskbar will disappear, leaving a black screen — but it's OK, it's only temporarily. You need to close File Explorer to be able to delete the icon cache files. Otherwise, you won't be able to do it.

    6. Type the following command to delete the iconcache files and press Enter:

    del iconcache*

Note: If you get access denied trying to remove the files, you're probably not running Command Prompt with as an administrator. Repeat these steps, but making sure Command Prompt starts with administrative privileges.

    7. Type the following command to verify that you successfully deleted the icon cache files and press Enter:

    dir iconcache*

If you still see some iconcache files, then it's likely that some apps are still running, which will prevent you from deleting the database files. Make sure to close them all, and repeat the steps.

    8. Type the following command to start File Explorer and press Enter:

    explorer.exe

And that's it! Close CMD, and check the incons. You might need to restart your PC if the icons are still blank.

    I'll try it tomorrow!
