  1. It's really easy. Kind of like doing brakes on a car. Sounds like complicated, but it's actually pretty hard to mess up. Things go where they fit and no where else. If you've seen enough videos you'll know that the paste application is not the heart attack people make it out to be. You can even take a plastic stick and drag it over the entire CPU evenly if you're worried about it. I usually use an X pattern with dots in the blank spaces. Don't crank it down super hard, just enough to feel solid. If you mess it up you can always take it off and do it again.
  2. I've had nothing but bad experiences at Microcenter. Never going back there at this point.
  3. Personally, I build a new system every 4 years. That way my current one still has enough value to take a huge chunk out of the cost of the new one, and I stay reltively current.
  4. 4070 is on par enough with 7800xt, 7900xt CLOSE ENOUGH to not justify spending more IMO but it really depends on what games you play. I had a 7800xt and a 6950xt before returning both because my 3070 gave me the same frames in World of Warcraft as the better ones. I would say unless you want the 4070 ti to just get the cheapish 4070, or maybe wait until the Super models come out in a few weeks and see how prices react. I also agree just get a 2tb PCI 4.0 NVME SSD. The 7800x3d is a very efficient chip for the performance so you don't need to go crazy with the cooler, but I like the one you picked. I don't like using air coolers because it's louder and more to clean inside near the CPU area. It's easier to clean the case fans IMO.
  5. All of your parts will work together. Your CPU will be significantly outpacing your GPU based on the gaming performance of the 7800x3d being off the charts but that's not a big deal, you can upgrade the GPU in the future. The only thing I would do is get an A tier PSU from this list. Your Gigabyte is fine but it's in B tier. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
  6. For context, 30-40c is VERY VERY low compared to other parts that are out there. My 13600k runs at like 48-52c idle and that's with (one of) the best cooler on the market, Corsair h150i Elite Capellix 360AIO. It never cracks over 81c unless I'm doing a stress test though, so it's pretty narrow temp range on mine. Ryzen runs way cooler due to less power draw. Your system is probably fine. Unless you messed up the contact between the cooler and CPU or the paste application, should be ok.
  7. I would price this at 700 and be willing to sell it for 550 or so when everyone low balls you. I sold a very similar system a year ago with an 8700k and most of the same setup except no GPU for 450. The 2070 isn't worth a ton anymore, and the 9700k is really just a different 8700k. Like maybe you get 600 for it but I don't see it higher than that from a buyer standpoint, espcially with no SSD. I'm in the northeast. Whatever you do, list it NOW because people are trying to buy stuff like this for their kids for the holidays.
  8. Nah, they are all straight trash that waste my time and annoy the crap out of me. If I find value in something I'll buy it, like the Gamers Nexus coasters or mouse pad. If I like an album I'll buy a shirt or go to a show which is a lot better than the 3 cents per song that a band gets if I buy the album. The entire world is a scam and money is flying out the door like no other time in history. I don't need to feed into streaming platforms, LTT store, movie companies, etc, where rich people get richer and those of us at the bottom still have next to nothing. Deal with it I guess.
  9. All ads are intrusive to me. I don't buy stuff from ads, I never have and never will. Unless I was buying it anyway and searching for it it's not going to make my interest in the thing any better or worse. For me personally, ALL ADS are just a nuisance. I will block ads everywhere, all the time for as long as possible.
  10. Ads disturb me from enjoying videos. It's a stain on the internet. I don't care about any arguments not in line with me being annoyed by them. I will block everything, everywhere, all the time for as long as possible. There will always be a solution for those who look for it and put in the effort to use it.
  11. I don't know if the Amazon basics one is available in Europe (def not made in Europe though) but I have it and it's pretty good. It was like 18 bucks, works well, good for whatever you need to do from time to time. The only thing I don't like is the handle insert (the drive rod thing) is a little looser than I'd like, but it's not bad. And it's even cheaper now 13 dollars US. I don't generally buy Amazon branded stuff but this was an exception. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-12-in-1-Magnetic-Ratchet-Screwdriver/dp/B07V5WYXP5/ref=sr_1_24?crid=3IBK2SSR9HGYM&keywords=ratcheting+screwdriver&qid=1698850746&sprefix=ratcheting+sc%2Caps%2C186&sr=8-24
  12. IMO threads about people's kids and families should be locked. Who cares what he's doing with his kids, it's none of our business.
  13. Yea, his attitude towards it was pretty stupid IMO. You can't state you're doing all these things in new videos and then basically mock people who praised them inadvertently not knowing that some of them weren't new. All while basically wiping out all of your statements like "LOL they were ok all along...." when you acknowledged they weren't. I know some of them weren't new, but obviously they didn't release them unchecked. A few things: 1) Even though they were filmed and completed doesn't mean that they weren't gone through again (I guarantee they were) to ensure that there were no glaring errors. 2) Not all videos LTT posted had errors. If those 6 didn't, I'm not surprised. 3) The first review video that was posted was functionally useless in that they compared like 9 GPUs where other channels did 40 or 50. And yet LTT has 2-5x the number of people working on it. Also Terren is either quitting/quit or refused to get on camera because although he was in the video to deflect some of the blame from Linus himself, he hasn't made a public comment since. Very weird.
  14. Never owned AMD Ryzen, just speaking in general.
  15. Stuff I usually pay attention to is Fastboot status, igpu disable if you don't need it, moderate memory overclocking (not the sub timings just the frequency). If you aren't worried about power draw, OC the CPU some. In Windows, OC the GPU as much as possible.
