  1. I always carry a USB-C Power Delivery charger and a 4-inch USB-C to Micro B adapter (as well as a Type C cable, obviously). That way I can charge basically anything. I like the 30W one from Anker that has both the Type C with PD and a Type A port. I also like having the C to Micro B because I can charge my headset from my phone and that's priceless. Damn, even I don't carry an iFixit-type kit. You go hard.
  2. I'd have to agree with @LFreeman. But if you have a bit of extra cash, I'd recommend looking into building a Raspberry Pi NAS and running Plex on that so you can free up the newer laptop for other tasks.
  3. Exactly. I'd love a great webcam in my laptop as much as the next person, but anyone who's really that concerned about video quality is likely going to invest in a high quality USB webcam like the C920 or go full bore with a DSLR.
  4. It would be interesting to see whether a DIMM slot is capable of holding the additional weight.
  5. Turns out, it's far easier than I thought to completely overload a reasonably powerful computer with six cores and 16GB of RAM. All I had to do was: Two layers of 4K video mixing in Resolume Five instances of GPU texture sharing (Spout) One Art-Net stream Three simultaneous Unity render outputs (building a VR app) Bring the whole thing into OBS Send out two network video streams (NDI rocks) Open one YouTube video in Chrome easy peasy this is sarcasm
  6. I love the Max Headroom profile GIF. I use this exact clip from that video in my VJ sets. It's my running gag to break it out once a show.

  7. Petabyte Project successor should be called Exabyte Endeavor. CHANGE MY MIND.
