So that's both scheduled maintenance and live tile updates in your start menu causing the wake states. Easiest thing to do would be to disable wake from sleep in advanced power plan settings. You can also disable automatic maintenance (though you shouldn't) or fiddle around in task scheduler to individually kill scheduled tasks that wake the computer.

As far as why your peripherals aren't receiving power, I have no idea... I'd reset your power plan settings back to default and CMOS reset your BIOS.

I would say linux is not for the closed mind people. As you have to be very open to changes if you are deciding to switch to linux, since in Linux you cannot be like: "Why doesn't linux to this thing that Windows has, this is stupid". Instead you have to be willing to change if you switch to Linux. Also Linux is not for those who rely on Windows applications that don't run on Linux, maybe your job requires the app, then Linux is great for like a second device, but for your first it might not be so great.

How could the MacBook be the far worst thing I can recommend. I truly disagree with that opinion. It might not be the best at gaming, but for battery life, it would stand out. A used MacBook is in OP budget.

Make sure you are not on a residential connection, many ISP's block hosting websites from residential connections.

Ah! Maybe usb to ethernet dongle, and connect to a switch. Since your phone is technically the router. Both iPhone and Android allow USB hotspot, but not sure with router.

Why not connect your computer to your hotspot, then get a switch and let the computer do it.

I used to do something like that, I think it was called bridge?

When you boot into recovery mode on Ubuntu, you get the option to boot into a Live CD mode without installing the OS onto your system!

This is like an extra extra private mode.

Most likely, there is an internal clock built into the SMC or a clock chip that knows what time it is just like there is one in BIOS. Just like there are wake up timers on Windows (Had an annoying issue that I had to re-install Windows), there probably is some sort of system in macOS.

You could maybe get an external drive enclosure and turn it into a external drive. Maybe backup your important data on to it, and leave it at a friends house or something so you can have a backup of your data

First, you cannot currently install macOS on an iPad.

Second, strategies such as virtualization should continue working since mac virtualization shouldn't go away. And, Apple said that they would continue supporting their intel based macs for many years, and many people have intel based Mac Pro's, and I don't see them changing them in a few years since a investment into 30+ core mac's is a big investment.

So, in my opinion, that many years of support could surpass 10+ years.

and with the endless upgrade options, people might just swap out the CPU for another Intel one in a few years. (Maybe motherboard, not sure)
