  1. Did you ever end up replacing or removing that inductor on the corsair power supply? Or did it end up getting scrapped?

      I replaced it and it burned it up instantly. Scrapped it, not much point in fixing a budget PSU at this point

I recently decided to upgrade my generic-ish samsung ram (2x4gb + 2x2gb) to two 3x2gb Patriot Sector 7 1600MHz kits for a total of 12gb able to run in triple channel. the original 4 sticks ran in dimm slots 1,2,3, and 4 with no issues. This was with a modest 4.16GHz overclock on the cpu (worked fine even when I was running 4.5GHz). With all 6 sticks installed the system was showing 8gb of ram. AIDA64 was showing 6 dimm slots populated with 2gb each but only showed 8gb of ram, likewise with windows system information showing 8gb. I cleared all bios settings back to stock and voila, 12gb appears. I went back to overclocking and 12gb remained until the stress test errored out (I believe I wasn't running enough Vcore voltage for the OC) and it dropped to 10gb. I cleared all bios changes and back to 12gb. I've tried XMP profile which never worked but i'm not experienced at all with XMPs with overclocking. In fact i'm not that experienced with overclocking. the cpu is cooled with a 240mm AIO and doesn't exceed 64 degrees on any core during stress testing. I have tested all of the ram in multiple runs in slots 1,3, and 5 (triple channel) and all 6 sticks passed every test I could throw at them. (memtest86, AIDA64 extreme stability tests, and benchmarks like cinebench +3d mark). testing was done at stock clocks. I'm thinking that when I increase the BLCK and it subsequently bumps the DRAM frequency that it's messing with it somehow. Even setting DRAM freq to auto doesn't seem to help though. Auto throws it into 1066MHz which they all show up and run fine at.
  3. No, just throw an ssd in there and you'll be good. The i5 2400 is enough for light gaming and the 750 should go fine with that. I'm running a 780 in one right now and that seems to be just over the bottlenecking threshold.
