  1. Hello guys I made a quick video trying to show this issue. It's hard to capture on camera, but terrible to see with my own eyes. When the monitor sees a 1x1 pixel pattern on the screen (happening on adobe illustrator using the shape builder tool) it goes crazy. I see banding all over the place and stuff that looks like the old CRT scanlines. The color temperature also drops and the screen gets warmer. Watch the video on desktop fullscreen Running @ 1440p 144hz over HDMI 2.0 (I own a laptop) Calibrated with displaycal and xrite Happens with gsync on and gsync off Does not happen @ 1080p Using an HQ HDMI cable. Of course it's HDMI 2.0 ready. What can I try? - Software update? (says I am on latest version, where do I download the file?) - Another cable? - ???
  2. Hey thanks for the suggestion! but the problem is that I live in Italy. I don't know gentech PC's warranty
  3. Ohh finally you are a godsent! ? From what i found out the GX701 with a 2070 scored theese numbers: Fire Strike 16535 PT Cinebench R20 2895 PT Overwatch 170 FPS Reaching under max load temps of 87°C max, 79°C mid. What about your 2080MQ beast? Are firestrike and overwatch better or worse? I can't understand if the 2080MQ is actually more or less performing than a 2070 non MQ. Cinebench score sould be the same, i guess. What about Cinebench r15? Thank you again ?
  4. I managed to find this: MSI GE75 9SG 2070 (Stock) (With intel core i7) performed 17093 points on FireStrike. MSI GE75 9SG 2080 (Repasted by HIDevolution ) (With the i9) performed 21502. The results are different, but it could be caused also by the difference in cpu. I can't really find an accurate comparison. Anyone can help?
  5. MSI's 2080 is not MQ, its an actual (underclocked) 2080. ROG's 2080 is MQ, and from what i saw online, a 2080MQ performs worse than a 2070. So... why the hell this: https://www.hidevolution.com/custom-built-asus-rog-zephyrus-s-gx701gw-db76-17-3-fhd-144hz-i7-9750h-rtx-2070.html Costs 800 dollars less than this??? https://www.hidevolution.com/custom-built-asus-rog-zephyrus-s-gx701gx-xb78-17-3-fhd-144hz-i7-9750h-rtx-2080-max-q.html Sorry, wtf?? Instead, the options for the MSI are theese two: MSI 2070 non MQ: https://www.hidevolution.com/custom-built-msi-ge75-9sf-raider-653-17-3-thin-bezel-fhd-144hz-i9-9880h-rtx-2070.html MSI 2080 non MQ (500 dollars more, is it worth it?): https://www.hidevolution.com/custom-built-msi-ge75-9sg-raider-655-17-3-thin-bezel-fhd-144hz-i9-9880h-rtx-2080.html
  6. Thank you man! Ill wait for your answer. To me one of the most important stats is cinebench score, as i use and will be using cinema 4d a lot, but in the future i could also try octane renderer, based on gpu rather than cpu. By the way, this is what i found out so far: ASUS Zephyrus S i7-9750H 2070 3D Mark Fire Strike: 16535 Cinebench R20: 2895 Overwatch: 170 CPU Stress Temps: 87 Max 79 AVG Weight: 2.6Kg PRICE: $2499 ASUS Zephyrus S i7-9750H 2080MQ 3D Mark Fire Strike: ?? Cinebench R20: 2895 Overwatch: ?? CPU Stress Temps: ?? Weight: 2.6Kg PRICE: $3,299 MSI GE75 9SG 3D Mark Fire Strike: 18947 Cinebench R20: 3712 Overwatch: ?? CPU Stress Temps: 95 Max 87 AVG Weight: 2.6Kg PRICE: $3,399 MSI GE75 9SG Repaste (From HIDevolution) 3D Mark Fire Strike: 21502 Cinebench R20: 4000 Overwatch: 200 CPU Stress Temps: 85 Max 75 AVG Weight: 2.6Kg PRICE: $3,399 + 95$ For LM from HIDevolution The cheapest one is the Zephyrus with 2070. Are we sure that it outperforms the 2080MQ?
  7. The only review i found speaking about the Zephyrus GX701 equipped with intel 9th gen is this one: But for some reason it has 2070 and not 2080 MQ
  8. Budget: for me this one is ok: https://www.hidevolution.com/custom-built-msi-ge75-9sg-raider-655-17-3-thin-bezel-fhd-144hz-i9-9880h-rtx-2080.html For sure NOT CHEAP, but i hope it will be enough for some time. It would be the most expensive laptop i ever bought. Let's say 3000€ maximum 3500€, over that is way, way way too pricey. Weight: my xps is 2kg, but my shoulders could take also ~3kg + single (not giant) power adapter.. at least i hope.
  9. Yeah the look is a very big +... A bit of gamery but much much more elegant and industrial compared to the MSI. HIDevolution offers liquid metal for an additional price. I checked around the web and i understood that if done well, it should not give any problems. They give warranty on it. They offer also other options with other thermal interface materials that are not liquid metal tho... what do you suggest, and why? By the way.. i found only this review: https://www.ultrabookreview.com/24805-asus-zephyrus-gx701gx-review/ And it's outdated.. i was interested in the 9th gen model. I found both on HIDevolution at roughly the same price. Budget is pretty high. From notebookcheck i see that weight is around the same, very strange ?? Battery life is important yeah, but not crucial. Honestly i don't care if my laptop has 20 hours of battery life if then it is too underpowered for me (Aka Dell XPS 15...) Just need some hours let's say. Around 3/5 hours. More is appreciated. That's why big desktop replacements such as the alienware area 51m are out of my range. I am from italy. I can buy from HIDevolution tho. Since asus offers global warranty. I asked both hidevolution and asus and they said it was ok. I am not 100% sure about MSI warranty tho.
  10. During the last months i have been thinking and thinking about my next laptop. I currently own a Dell XPS 15 (one of my worst laptop ever.. a LOT of problems here and there, and big thermal issues also after repaste and uv) The laptop will be used for 3D Rendering (Cinema 4D) and adobe applications. I was interested in theese two laptops from HIDevolution (both repasted with liquid metal): ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701GX-XB78 - 17.3" FHD 144Hz - i7-9750H - RTX 2080 Max-Q MSI GE75 9SG Raider-655 - 17.3" Thin Bezel FHD 144Hz - i9-9880H - RTX 2080 Raw performance is higher on the MSI, of course. But i would rely 100% on liquid metal by HIDevolution. Without it, that thing is unusable. ASUS offers better screen, portability, battery life (and recharge options) and IMO also design. But i can't find any test relative to the ASUS ROG equipped in specific with a i7-9750H and RTX 2080 Max-Q... So i can't really compare how much of a difference there is between the two. Is that difference worth it? how much they differ in term of performance? Should i even wait for new 10th gen? Could that be much of a performance increase? Did not even understand when 10th gen laptops will be aviable. Thank you guys.
  11. Uh, thanks! Could I ask you the source of this graph? Maybe I can find more info myself.. and really maximum is 1250? No laptop can reach 2000 points? ? Yeah probably.. but which laptop? ?
  12. I'm searching for the top performing laptop, the one that scores more on Cinebench R15.. and that also has capability to house 2070 or 2080 graphics cards. Please exclude beasts like the Alienware Area 51M or other laptops with desktop cpu and dual power brick. (To be specific they are ok to me if battery life is more than 3 hours and weight is under 5kg including power supply. Dual power supply is good only if i can use only one but with limited performance, when i'm out) Im not expecting to find a thin and light incredibly powerful beast, lets be realistic. I don't want it to throttle. But on the other hand it should still be considered a laptop, not a 50Kg (excluded power bricks) monstruosity.. at that point i can buy a desktop lol Thanks!
  13. Yeah, saying just 2080 i wanted to include even 2080MQ. They are all around that range, but looks like that the zephyrus is the only one so thin
  14. Internet is a small place ? Tried to ask you some info about HIDevolution even on other forums.. What do you think about it? Can i trust the shipping? However: You opened me a new world with that search ? Never thought that there could be so many resellers. But i was thinking about a customized ASUS Zephyrus, not a clevo. I contacted syspack, they were the only one to have a GX701 in the shop. Yeah i know! I've seen a lot of good feedback about them, but mainly from usa Just wanted to know if someone here has tried it out from europe, and how the shipping was..
  15. @MNet so i'm still wandering around the internet just to find out which RTX 2080 laptop is actually the coolest. We figured out that the zephyrus is one of the coolest, but is it actually THE coolest? I rely on tour knowledge ?
  16. Hi people! I'm new here, and i don't really know if i can freely talk about shops and sellers. If not, please tell me and remove the thread! :) I just wanted to know if HIDevolution is actually reliable for people who buy from europe (in my case, Italy). Is the shipping safe? Has anyone tried it outside america? Actually worth it? I have to thank @GeneXiS_X for recommending it to me! Here in italy it is not so popular and i did not know that it even existed. And, just in case, are there any european resellers like HIDevolution?
  17. Just checked it and it is really incredible. I was worried by the fact that for rendering 16gb would not have been enough, then i see that they claim that they can upgrade the ram up to 40gb (8+32). That would solve any issue! Moreover for 90 bucks they even repaste with thermal grizzly and premium cooling pads.. nice! So you say that i can trust them? Here in italy i've never seen people speaking of them.
  18. Do they repaste laptops? Warranty? Is there a shop like this for Italy/Europe? Thanks again for the informations! I checked the software on notebookckeck.net and i have seen that it has a manual mode where you can adjust fan speed and clock speed, so i can achieve what i want! The only problem here for me are the ram slots, why the heck didn't they make a 32gb model.. moreover here in europe/italy on the eshop they sell only the 16gb one, to get to 24 you need some DIY, as you already said. By the way i will be waiting some more time before buying, so i will check again later. I will be getting into 3d animation and rendering next year, so for photoshop and other lighter things i can still struggle with my heat-generating xps 15 for a while. And just to say: i am happy that asus did not use a 4k panel, windows is a disaster if you use it over full hd, i have tested it on my skin with my xps ? So when i will buy it i will be happy with my 1080p, but still high quality, panel. (Just to make an example: illustrator's and photoshop's effect gallery panel interface does not scale up at all to 4k, you need a magnifying lens to use it). However thanks for now! In the meantime i hope they will release a newer version with upgraded ram capability.
  19. Actually interested more in performance rather than price value ? so no problem, until the laptop does not throttle as hell like my xps 15 (actually I don't know even if it is normal or if it has a factory problem, I even undervolted and repasted it, and it is still hot, I just reduced a little bit of throttling) I did not expect an answer like this one ? Thank you really much, you are really helping me! So good news for me, the thermal design is actually worth it. Personally I would avoid repasting, I did it on my xps but just for necessity. I'm interested in cooling because I will use it for rendering works (cinema 4d) and heavy creative usage (massive photoshop and illustrator files, with lots of layer effects and textures and layers). So I need something that can be carried around, powerfully enough and cool enough to not Melt down like other thin and light laptops do ? Can I ask you a question about the software included to manage performance and thermals? Is there a mode to make it perform just cooler? Or a manual mode to lower the tdp and increase fan speed? I'm interested more in cooling than in top performance. I need this laptop to last at least two/three years and I will use it heavily. I don't want to make it Melt down.. Maybe when warranty will end I can try even a repasting, who knows Thank you again!
  20. Yeah, in comparison to the other 2080 Max Q Laptops did not manage to find any graph.. if it keeps the same temps of all the others, then all the strange layout is pointless. Battery life is not the worst, but for sure not better than my actual xps 15 ?
  21. Hi people, i'm new here! I can't find an answer to this question: is the Asus GX701 actually worth it? Does that strange layout actually make it perform cooler in comparison to the other same-specced RTX2080 laptops that came out in 2019? I can't find any comparison graph that points out temps while under the same load, at the same room temperature, for the same amount of time. Can you help me to answer this question?
