    There are a couple of Unraid apps that will do that for you such as disk speed that will tell you which port it is on motherboard/card and disklocation that allows you to record which drive is where. Generally though when I put a new drive in I make a note of its serial number and then a note of where I put it on a piece of paper I keep on the back of a case panel. As for the ports I use some of those small numbers that used to be used for labelling videos to just give each cable a number. 27 drives and haven't had a problem locating them yet.
