GTA V loading Screen do be a thought Simulator…

That reminds me of how much faster GTA San Andreas loaded when I installed a SSD instead of a hard disk. I also noticed it quite a lot with Stronghold 2. I know it positively impacted loading times throughout, but those games where the ones I remember seeing the most improvements.
  2. Well, some drones can be quite complex too, especially the high-tech military ones. If you are refering to civilian planes only, there was I believe an experiment conducted with a Boeing 727 specially set up to be remote-controlled (controlled crash test in the desert), so yes, it has been done before but not really desirable. Would you board a passenger plane knowing that it is completely remote-controlled? Maybe there will be remote-controlled cargo planes (which then should be called cargo drones), but there still remain some safety and security concerns that have to be adressed before any large scale deployment can be planned.
  3. I think that should be from Lidl, at least the brand Parkside is only being sold by Lidl where I live, Aldi also sells some similar sets but under different names.

Good to know, that kind of build quality is not so nice. By the way, this picture lets me wonder how high the temperatures can get inside of that charging brick, those electrolytic capacitors won't like high temperatures for very long.
  6. I hope this new Pfizer drug works well, that would greatly contribute to getting this pandemic under control. Meanwhile, vaccination rates here have stagnated and there are many anti-vaxxers where I live (unfortunately). Lately, the number of vaccines administered has risen quite significantly, with many being due to people getting their third (booster) shot but also because of quite a few people getting their first shot. Our restrictions have been updated so that in most cases being tested (even PCR-tested) is not enough to attend certain events, one now needs to be either fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid19 within the last six months. There are also places where people additionally need to be PCR-tested (on top of being fully vaccinated or having recovered), for example when you want to visit someone at a hospital. Let's see how quickly we can get things under control. Fortunately, the vaccines and the tests (both antigen and PCR ones) are free of charge here.

    Who's Joe ?

Who's Joe? Let's talk again tomorrow, you should know by then.
  8. Maybe you could try getting a discount by the seller telling them that they consistently mislabel the battery capacity as being 5 mAh, which is 1000 times less than the correct value of 5 Ah
  9. I bet all those engineers at Gigabyte are stuck in a constant facepalm motion and that blunder was probably due to some PR people.
  10. During non-pandemic times, I would recommend travelling to a French speaking country (preferably France). Focus on a few useful sentences that you need in your everyday life and expand your knowledge from there. After a while, you might want to start watching some French TV or watch movies you have access to in French with English subtitles or vice versa (just don't be too much disappointed by the French voices of some characters, they can be pretty bad sometimes). Don't focus too much on grammar, French has a lot of complicated rules, you won't need most of them very often to be honest. Try to find French people to talk with, that's a very good way of picking up the language. I learnt how to speak French quite early in my life since my parents decided to put me in a French school (with the French curriculum, French teachers and many French and international students), so I picked the language up quite easily.
  11. I just love the French translation for Gaming mouse pad "tapis de souris de jeu"

my school planner has comic sans for the cover…

There is a professor at my university who uses comic sans for all the lecture slides. I was confused at first but now I think I somehow got used to seering that.
  14. Ginger Beer from FeverTree, but I don't drink it very often because I generally stay away from sodas.

Sounds more like some strange kind of therapy for some teachers than school to me Anyways, sounds like fun, seems to be more entertaining than my school was.
  16. As others have suggested, take the CPU cooler and the GPU cooler out. Also make sure to protect the case itself, especially if parts of it are made out of glass. Remove anything sticking out from the case (cables, Wifi antenna etc). The box the case came in is only made for an empty case, your mileage may vary when using it with a full computer, especially when there are heavy components inside. It is also not a bad idea to contact the airline, they can tell you exactly what kind of restrictions (size, weight) to expect for all types of luggage. If there is any way of getting the package labeled as "fragile", then do that.

Then I would guess it is a good thing I never posted a picture of my PC where I replaced the case's feet with IKEA Besta feet (mainly to ensure that the PSU fan can push air into the PSU more easily)

That teacher could be asked to be epoch appropriate, History teachers should understand that.
  19. I really like this video and in particular all the "left/leftist/socialist" puns. There a few things that could have been added though configure the RAM as single channel (share ressources) make fans share the same header so that the connector's power draw is red-lining. create an ambitious 5 year upgrade plan install a firewall that is renamed "iron curtain" disable updates disable QoS for all network connections (no priority for any traffic)
  20. If you are into DIY you could just buy a RFID blocking wallet and then take an old, non-blocking wallet and then sew the old and new wallets together so that the new wallet is inside the old one. You can remove most of the insides of the old (outer) wallet, so that the combination doesn't become too thick. Then put the cards you want to be readable via RFID in the outer part while the other cards can stay in the inner (protected) part. That will probably look janky, but it might do the trick.
  21. I think the expression "With great power comes great responsibility" is also appropriate in this case. I understand the need for some type of monitoring when the devices are at school and exclusively meant for school related activities. When used at home, where these devices might be the only pc/laptop that student has regular access to, it becomes a much more serious issue. Students AND their parents should be appropriately warned not to store any personal, non-school related stuff on there. In my opinion, it is not enough to rely on the entirety of teachers using these powers responsibly. If I had a child who is a student and has to use such a device, I would at least buy a cheap plastic slider so that the webcam can be covered and I would consider trying to disable the inbuilt mic at a hardware-level (and provide another one that can be controlled by my child). I suppose those devices have protections in place that prevent people from just booting into an OS from a flash drive (which would be a neat solution).

history teacher made his TA change his password…

Reminds me of one of my teachers who had the admin password for the whole school network written down on a paper. A friend of mine one day found that paper lying clearly visible in a garbage can in a classroom. I don't understand how that teacher could be that careless and why our brilliant sys admins thought it was a good idea to give every teacher an admin account.
  24. You could try a compatible USB-C to HDMI/USB adapter to connect an external display and maybe a mouse. Then you should be able to do all kinds of things on the phone, including disabling the alarm.
