This shoud give you what you are looking for. So put in the IP of your nas in tthe dest setting. This way only the smb traffic will be slowed down.

If you have the option to transfer files through sshfs/sftp (or ftp), you could use e.g. FileZilla. It has the option to set a transfer speed limit.

Your CPU will be fine for a while unless you demand uber high frame rates. I'd definitely look into a quality 1080p monitor, a more recent GPU, like a RX 6600XT and at least 16 GB total RAM. For the record, I'm still using a Ryzen 5 2600, RX 5700 and a 1080/60hz monitor. I have yet to hit a wall, as far as new games my system is able to play at 60 fps medium to high settings.

Off hand, no. But I guarantee you if you type “raspberry pi NAS” into YouTube, you will have plenty of great resources.

I have not watched this, but I know this YouTube is pretty solid… I have used his video for a few other homelab things. Looks like raid owl (another YouTuber) has a video on pi NAS’s as well.

Again, the reason I advise looking into it yourself, is because getting into this WILL require research. Continual research. Something will go wrong, and you will need to figure out how to fix it. If trying to find out the basics is to much of a struggle… you may want to just buy a pre-made solution. I am an avid homlaber and help out on this forum a ton with providing people advice and lessons learned, but you have to be able to do some of your own research and come in with questions that are a little further along than “I have no idea how to do any of this, but I want it to work, what do I do”.

Give that video a watch, and if there are things you don’t understand, try and google them to find out answers. Then if your get stuck or just can’t quite understand something, that’s when we as the hive mind of the forum will be more eager to help.

I'm confused. Did this say that the hack was from 2021? Then what does this have to do with Elon? Other than bandwagon on the everything wrong with Twitter is Elons fault. Also not going to lie having my email leaked isn't really all that concerning for me.

Not really a trusted source for much of anything unless you trust them to tell a lie on the daily basis. This has been common knowledge since the early 90's.

steelo got a reaction from kazworks in Is there something similar to samsung deX for Xiaomi smartphone?
I know I'm late to the party here, but I have to disagree. Dex is a full fledged OS that looks very similar to Windows. It even includes many of the Windows shortcuts, such as ctrl+c, alt+tab, etc and splitscreen windows. Yes you are limited to 'ARM' apps unless you use a x86 emulator.  However, dex allows you to use a keyboard, mouse and a full monitor. I've been using it for 2 weeks on my S20 and have had little reason to even turn on my PC. However, I use it mainly for balancing my checkbook, editing photos, checking email and web surfing. I think at one point, I had like 12 tabs open in Samsungs web browser and never noticed a hiccup.

There are also x86 apps that have been ported to run on it. For example, I use openoffice (called Andropen office for Android, I believe) and it does everything the PC version can do. As far as gaming, no you can't run Cyberpunk natively on your phone. However, GeForce Now, Stadia and xcloud run BEAUTIFULLY within dex.

I guess it depends what you need your PC to do. If all you need is a 'light' device to check email, web surf (this also works beautifully within dex) and cloud gaming, you could easily get by with it...and be very happy. If you're doing intense video editing of 4K videos and require many options, then it wouldn't be a good experience.

I'm not faulting you for not liking it, but it's a bit more than running Android apps in windowed mode. There are a lot of features to improve on, but I really think it has a lot of potential once they work out the rough edges.

Hope I didn't sound rude...I didn't mean to. To answer your question, I believe Intel holds the upper hand with the very high end CPU market. However, in my experience, AMD (usually) provides a better value in the low-mid range market. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong...

I installed Win 11 when it was first released (with a TPM 'hack') Noticed a lot of hanging, especially when opening file manager...it would freeze for about 10 seconds. Highly annoying. I've since downgraded to Win 10.

There are a few things to consider when choosing a console, let me list them.
What console do most of your friends play on if they play on console? Which controller do you prefer? Which console does your current hardware (controller and/or headset) work best with? Honestly, since you have a PC already, I would get a PS5 if your hardware works with it. You can play a lot of the gamepass games on PC so really you would have access to the widest range of games across the 3 platforms.

Here are a list of games you can play with keyboard and mouse on both consoles:
    https://www.purexbox.com/guides/all-xbox-games-with-mouse-and-keyboard-support
    https://gamesbustop.com/ps5-games-that-supports-keyboard-and-mouse/

Personally, if you prefer mouse and keyboard, I would just upgrade your processor and keep the rest of your PC the same. Then, use the money you saved by not buying a console to buy whatever games you want to buy during steam summer & winter sales. I really hate controller gaming myself and the only game I use my controller with is Elden Ring. The only reason I would ever consider owning a console is to play Madden. There really is no benefit to switching to console with your current PC specs unless there a specific console exclusives you wish to play or games without crossplatform that you want to play with friends.

w3schools is pretty good. Another alternative is codecademy.com, but they seem to have become very focused on making you pay for them.
If you make an account and only show the free courses, there are some good ones there. Just make sure that the whole course is free and not just parts.
For example the python for programmers course seems fine.

If you already know how to program, you can probably just look up a short explanation of the python syntax.

Another site, that I haven't personally tried would be this one sololearn.com.

Just as a dumb idea. If you really don't want to program in Python, you could always just write some c or c++ code, create a shared library from it and just load it in Python. Technically, Python works the best as an interface for precompiled packages (Tensorflow, Numpy, etc). At least if you want your code to run somewhat fast.

Second this.  I had to learn bits of Python to help a friend with a project (I have more experience with C++, C#, Java, JavaScript).  I just used the Python docs along with docs for the library she was instructed to use.  Another resource is RosettaCode, useful for seeing solutions done in multiple languages.
